Hah, Blaster lives as a repaint, gutted! That Cybertron Quickmix repaint is awful though. I'll be buying all of Wave 1 bar repaints and Powerglide! Octane continues to be kickass. Sunstreaker looks sleek and sporty, as he should. Prowl looks like win and badassery captured in plastic Onslaught rocks my f*****g world. Oh and, Hasbro people keep up their excellent track record of Mistransforming their stuff. Way to go guys. B-Fox:
Heavy Duty looks like Hoist and is a Decepticon. This makes my brain hurt, but I might buy it since I disgarded Quickmix. Blaster is a repainted Soundwave from Cybertron. Poor Blaster will never shake his image as an Autobot 'pale imitation' of Soundwave...  omega ranger:
Heavy Duty would look ten times better if not for the funky posing, IMO. And Cybertron Soundwave as Blaster!? Quite random...

Ah so the Voyagers are repaints, I thought as much. Blaster's pretty good but I have that mould already as Soundwave and Quickmix is a rubbish toy that felt like a waste of money the first time around so there's no way I'm getting that con. microclone:
nice except.....the repaints, repaints are annoying for 1 reason, it means that the character they are repainted to is not going to get a new toy, thats unfortunate for us. i really like tankor, the velicle modes have a gen 1 feel where there is some compromise (or is that optimise!) to the design, i like that funnily enough. I love onslaugts vehicle mode, like GI joe toy! Gryph: Quote:

Blaster & Heavy Duty = MASSIVE FAIL. They look like something that BotCon would think up, and just like "Classics" Devastator, are nothing that should be apart of this line. I'm now entirely freaked out about what they will do with Universe. Save for Sunstreaker & Prowl, Wave 1 is essentially a grab-bag of random characters, and now with the confirmation that they'll be rehashing shitty molds from previous lines to inject, I don't foresee any sort of consistant character theme happening here. Heavy Duty? What the **** ever. The new molds look great though - except for Powerglide - who doesn't suck but is definitely gonna take some time to get used to. Tman978:

Blaster looks alright, but to be honest I'd have picked a different Transformer to redeco as him. Cybertron Soundwave is a very "evil" mold, I can't see it as a "good guy" though it is mighty tempting. Heavy Duty is something or nothing, I liked Quickmix but not enough to get another version. Onslaught - Already seen him in the club magazine but still, gonna grab up on him so fast his packaging will catch fire Sunstreaker and Prowl - complete love but already have far too many incarnations of them already. Octane - hate the name change but love the toy Powerglide - pure awesome Then the bottom drops out with Blaster and Heavy Duty  Jeez, what a lame pair. I'm suprised no one here has questioned whether or not Blaster will have a newly molded minion since Lazerbeak wouldn't work for him. Steeljaw would probably most easiest to do with that hexagonal prism shape.

The voyagers are a letdown. A new head would have gone a long way with Blaster. At this point I would rather see him as a Titaniums Soundwave repaint with the unreleased Ravage repainted as Steeljaw (yes I know that is just wrong since that mold wasn't that good but at least it would fit the character). Blaster should at least have Lazerbeak repainted also. If not then what was the point in this figure? I will probably buy him but I don't know about Heavy Duty. G.I. Joe has been doing some great things lately so if money is tight it will be Joes over Universe Heavy Duty. Other than that the Classics look great, although I saw the Deluxe and Ultra figures in the Club magazine.

The classics look nice, except for Sunstreaker. Not impressed with that toy at all. Blaster is ok, will probably get him. Heavy Duty will probably be an impulse buy. Prowl, powerglide, and Octane are pure love. Onslaught is pretty nice too. Deathx360: Quote:

Yeah, they could at least slap some blaster lips on that cyber soundwave mold. Anyway how freaking sweet do those classics look properly transformed and all the paint apps applied? I'm loov'n it like fat folks love McDonald's!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, classics prowl and it's subsequent repaints can have my children. also loving the rest of the classics, except maybe powerglide just because I always saw him as a small figure. I may be tempted to get that blaster as well, if a new head can be procured.

ugh those cybertron repaints are bad. the only thing with tankor-octane is that blue-gray is off to me and does he even hands? all i see is the gun as part of his arms and those huge blades as his other arm, not that big of a fan when both arms are a weapon. onslaught looks cool, just hate when their official images are photoshop and then the toys end up looking dull, color wise. oh well.

Blaster just needs a new head. Why couldn't they just tool a new head for him? Geez 'Heavy Duty' looks ok, but is boring. Not any better/worse than the original release of the toy. Oh well - the main five are nice to see in color. Definitely getting them all. |
