Hello Everyone!
The Botcon comic preview is up! botcon.com
Edit--The pictures are working! HotRod has a beard! We also finally know where Cliffjumper went! Optimus747:
First look at Rodimus, looks a lot like the SDCC Titanium Menasor.
With a goatee.
TriBlurr:
Figured it would be old Cliffjumper who ends up in bizzaro land. Given the preview we got awhile ago about the Transtech comic which said he was with the three club combiner limbs when they dimension hopped, but missing in the transtech universe. Digging evil Hot Rod/Rodimus.
shibamura_prime:
Damn, that Hot Roddy's pretty sexy.
...wot?
Storm:
looks good, Hotrod looks awesome like that, i predictthe price of the Menasor going up now. It'll be interesting to see where Cliffjumper will decide to belong.
but a part of me is still disapointed the one they posted for April fools day wasn't real. I really dug the G2 comic art style.
for those that didn't see it, it's in the link below http://tformers.com/transformers-bot...9223/news.html
i really liked Dezaras in Starsabre colours and Thundercracker in his actionmaster duds
Peaugh:
Yeah, definitely digging that Rodimus. And here I was thinking I'd likely sell him.
Fosterlager:
DON + Classics molds = Epic Win! I am going to LOVE that Rodimus!!
And Cliffjumper, you fail at rocket pack operation! netkid:
MUCH cooler than I expected.
Primus:
Lol, nice Fu Manchu.
Turnip:
Rodimus looks BAD ASS!
Deadend:
Oh thank god. That other comic while having interesting art, was just so horridly written I was afraid to even comment.
This shows some promise though. I wonder if Cliffy with new head will be available. And really gives that entryway into this world better than the other.
Nevermore:
This really pales in comparison to the April Fool's comic preview.
Also note the heavy emphasis on exposition.
Let's compare:
Real BotCon comic: "Cliffjumper, you were dead! I last saw you three dozen stellar cycles ago when you got pulverized by Heroatron! There's no way you could have survived that!"
April Fool's comic: "Shrink-ray."
Trent Troop and M Sipher FTW.
Brodimus Prime:
Nice art. Interesting that Hot Rod knows Cliffjumper and doesn't suspect anything different about him. I guess that era's Jumper looks the same. I wish we had the other comic, too, but Don's art is beautiful, as always. I have a feeling the story is going to be extremely dark.
WhiteMocha:
For as big a role as Classics Cliffjumper has been playing in these Club comics, I sure wish they're make one of their exclusives an accurate replacement head for him. Every time I see these comics I think, "boy, Cliffjumper would be great if he actually looked like that..."
But yeah, I kinda preferred the art style and campiness of the joke comic. Ah well. The Rodimus mold should look nice in black and purple.

I like the way Cliffjumper and Hotrod reacted, I found the comments about their paintjobs and Hotrod's beard rather amusing. I do wonder though, is Hotrod going to be named Hotrod, or Rodimus?
Bloodcat:
I liked the April Fools' Day one better.
This whole club storyline alternate universe fetish is REALLY kinda dumb to begin with.
EEEVIIILLL versions of good guys is twice as dumb and overdone.
Giving them goatees?
MADE OF FAIL, as the kiddies would say.
The AFD one gloried in the pure stupid and created a beautiful flower of fun.
Can we have that one instead?

Deceptigtar:
so........will someone get my a rodimus from the con? please? seriously?

I'm looking forward to the comic more that the figures(which I won't be getting)
Dark_T_Zeratul:
I just had a thought... You know what would be awesome?
They take the same basic premise, that Cliffjumper's been ported to the alternate universe. Then they take the style of the April Fool's one - the over-the-top cheesiness and ridiculousness of it all - and have Cliffjumper be the eternal straight man.
Rod:
Is going to botcon the only way to get this comic? Or will it be availible for download somewhere?

MADE OF FAIL, as the kiddies would say. | Goatees isn't the problem.
Devoting dialogue to EXPLAINING the goatee is the problem. It's a stupid concept that's only there for laughs, trying to rationalize it makes it WORSE. Explaining in great detail how exactly mirrorverse Cliffjumper supposedly died, even though the only thing that will likely matter to the actual plot is that he is supposed to be dead, is pointless infodump. The writing on these pages is waaaay too much by-the-numbers.
This is particularly bad after we got a glimpse of what could have been a few days ago.
Brunkion76:
I for one am extremely intrigued by what is to come in the botcon comic, and i think it is interesting that all this is happening to Cliffjumper(i.e. transported to the shattered-glass verse),because he seems to have such a hard time looking past faction symbols to the bot beneath, might actually teach him to "grow up" a little.........if he can survive that is.I wonder if the decepticon that got fragged was that universe's version of Backstreet, although i know he was originally an autobot to begin with.

This is particularly bad after we got a glimpse of what could have been a few days ago. | And everyone keeps telling you that the April Fools joke could not work in a 24 page comic. We pulled out all the stops for 3 pages. 24 pages would have worn thin and would have not been as widely accepted as a good ole' romp.
It is not a matter of explaining the goatee, it is CJ just being utterly confused when he gets there. There is a realism we need to bring to the concept while also having a little fun here and there, which you will see...

And that was Ruckus.

And that was Ruckus. | Hello Pete@Botcon,
I have a question for you. If possible, could you tell us whether Hotrod will be named Hotrod or Rodimus? For me, it would make it easier to discuss the comic with friends if I knew his proper name. Thank you! Storm: Quote:

i will get the diamond version during summer for sure but i really dug that retro artwork, took me right back.
i just hope Grimlock talks how he did in that false one.

| Whoah, woah, woah... hang on there a minute.
I give Bug Bite an Errol Flynn mustache and an eyepatch, and that's cool, but Hot Rod getting a goatee and a Vinnie Barbarino inflection and that's lame? Those concepts are cousins, if not brothers.
Instead? No. Both? Yeah, probably. Quote: |

| I gotta disagree on this. There's no rationalization here. Cliffjumper's confused because everything is different and he's going to ask questions. "What's up with your face" is a legit question.
And "Yeah, my new beard is totally awesome" is an appropriate response.

THAT is a great insight, and one I hadn't thought about.
Optimus Scourge:
Very cool. Can't wait for the show!

wow....nice comic!
Kenucme:
I'd have to say I'm intrigued. I better make sure the set that's spoken for me has the comic!
SarahMobius: OMG sexy evil Hot Rod!!! For the first time, I'm glad I bought that titanium Menasor. And Cliffjumper being cool..? I didn't know that was possible. .::insert!!!fangirling::. Icespark: Quote:

I so wish we could get an update of Ruckus that looks like that (well, maybe not in Backstreet colors). Would be nice to get version of the triggercons (and Triggerbots) that don't, well, suck beyond all belief Obvious Prime:
Rodimus looks like he belongs in Metallica.
CJ! Yay! *runs off to order classics CJ, who's on sale now BTW)
And Grimmy and Jazz better talk like they did in the fake one, wot?
