Pete Sinclair (aka Pete@BotCon) has swung by to let us know that he'll be making an appearance on the upcoming Travel Channel program "Toy Hunter", where the crew of the show visit Pete's personal office to talk about not only the Transformers Collector's Club, but the Transformers fandom.

I will be appearing on the Season Premiere of "Toy Hunters", Wednesday Aug 15th, 10pm on the Travel Channel. The episode premieres right after the "Best Sandwich in America" Finale.

Though the company I work for, Fun Publications, is not associated with Toy Hunters, the segment did take place in my office so viewers will get a look at where I work and we do spend some time talking about the Transformers Collectors' Club and the amazing Transformers fandom.

Toy Hunter is a show where "Jordan Hembrough, a renowned toy dealer and ultimate toy hunter, takes toy picking to a new level as he takes on collections from some of the most popular cities on the East and West Coasts. His reputation for having the most sought-after, rarest finds has labeled him the "in-demand dealer" that everyone wants to have evaluate their stash."

Check out the teaser shots from the episode by either taking the jump/clicking the story title, or by visiting the Travel Channel's website over here.

That's neat, thanks for sharing.
Secretcode
I think this'll be pretty neat.

Also, I had no idea thread titles had a character limit. Great work, Lord Shockwave.
LamboTwinLove
Awesome!! I'm going to have to DVR this!

What's the channel number for Travel Channel on Time Warner Cable? Is it even available in Time Warner?
Motor_Master
I was already going to tune in when I saw the guy holding up a G1 Bumblejumper in the commercial. Now I'll have to tune in.
Omegatron
But I thought FunPub and everyone associated with them hated TFs and the fans. :-). Looking forward to watching this.
Composite Ghost
Don't let it go to your head, Pete.
WhiteMocha
That's awesome, Pete! Can't wait to see it!
Trailbreaker77
I'll have to set my DVR I will be out of town that day.

Is this the debut of a new show? Watch Travel Channel pretty frequently but I've never heard of this show.

It had a pilot and it was recently picked up for 12 episodes.
MegaMoonMan
I'm sure it will be a legendary display of spin and club/magazine pimping.

Amazingly the first set of toys that caught my eye from the promo picture was the TFCC Seacons set, TFCC Nightbeat and I believe that's SG Cyclonus box all towards the left side of the picture.
KING KONVOY
Nice...I will tune in or at least DVR

Hopefully another channel picks this up in Canada.

Great news!!! I loved the Toy Hunters one hour pilot show, still have it on my dvr and still watch it now and then. There was only a passing reference to Transformers in the pilot, and I wonder if the host knows TF very well. It's nice to see that they will acknowledge TF in the season premiere and bring in a TF expert. Looking forward to this!
Alucard77
Man, I hope this show fails horribly. I hate to see how expensive G1 gets after this shit!

Anyone catch that quote by Pete:

"All the money I saved in skimping on the TFCC website allowed me to do this"

Thought I was hearing things.
YoungPrime
Fun Pub ay...

So will he be the show's villain or hero?

No worries, Travel Channel is known for having programs with low ratings, much lower than Discovery. Travel literally charges pennies for carriage fees.
Omega Supreme-1
As expected of Travel Channel, they couldn't possibly get a good representative of our fandom like Vangelus; probably too cheap to film in Canada.

THIS! THIS! THIS!

I'd watch this but something tells me I'd need to buy a new TV afterwards.
Moonscream
Looks like it should be called American Toy Pickers.

Wow, what did you have to sell him Pete I was interviewed for the show along with a buddy but when he didn't want to sell his Mego figures and I didn't want to part with my Micronauts the guy threw a temper tantrum because "I'ts just not a good show unless we can see him leave with the rarest things we own so he can sell them"

The guy is a douche...

WOW!.. yeah the guy seems REALLY pushy, I can imagine him, taken advantage of a lot of these folks off camera & low balling the shit out of em. But guess that's his living... should be a entertaining cpl of shows.

Bearded dude, is the Host's good friend and one of his personal Toy Hunters. Dude has Toy Hunters all over the Nation, that gives him leads on where to find rare collectibles for cheap!

I stopped watching when he said M.A.S.K. was the precursor to transformers. This guy is supposed to be an expert, has TF's in his premiere episode, and doesn't know the brand launched in 84 when mask was 85? What a genius.

If you want to be on one of these shows you are basically giving up monetary value for the privilege to be on TV shows like Pawnstars. I guess whether its a privilege is questionable.....

I stopped watching when he offered $100 for the 4 mask toys. What an insult. Of course, a lot of shows do this.

Good to see a POSITIVE collecting show on T.V. and not more negative shows about collectors being insane and needing an intervention.

Wait... maybe not, this show looks fucked too, lol!

Yeah, this guy seems like an extreme douche. You can see him temper tantruming with the guy who put together that toy book.

hmm, sounds like a man with a plan, that dude.

Yeah, my buddy has an insane mego 8" figure collection...he's got pretty much everything and buys extras for customs (which he's done hundreds of!) It's like my gallery pics...an entire room of toys, but all Mego with a few other 70's era figures sprinked in.

They had the producers and everybody at their house and he decided he'd part with his 6 Million Dollar Man figures (since the Mego style ones were coming out and the scale would be better) the guy started freaking out that the legs on Bionic Bigfoot "must be fakes taken from a Chewbacca" and went "extreme lowball" on my friend. Finally my buddy got fed up and offered to bring him to my shop since I have (well...had at the time) both a vintage Chewbacca AND a Bionic Bigfoot to check against (My store is literally 2 blocks from my friend's house...and for the record, Bigfoot's legs are actually shorter than Chewbacca's and they look like they don't fit the body well despite being the correct pieces....it's not a very well made toy )
SantaClaus
They are the coolest shelves.

After watching that guy offer 100 bucks for all of those MASK toys mint in those boxes, and then saying "Is that a no?", as well as saying MASK was a precursor to Transformers, I won't be watching the Transformers episode. He had so many of his facts wrong in the first 5 minutes that I cringed. I don't expect him to know everything, but if he's a toy hunter he should know information and prices that you can find with a simple Google search.

I think I'd watch it just to see how badly uninformed he was. It would be cringeworthy, yes, but also very entertainingly funny to see a so-called 'expert' make such a public fool of himself when displaying his 'knowledge'. Then we can have a thread here making the episode a drinking game where you have a chug for every single thing he gets wrong and every dick lowball offer he makes. I bet we'd all be dead from alcohol poisoning within five minutes.

There's nothing quite so sad as a drunken nerd screaming at the TV about toy facts.
