RUMOR - BotCon 2014 Back In Pasadena?

Posted on 09-03-2013 at 06:46 PM by StayingInTheBox under Conventions
BotCon_2014
Some interesting news has emerged regarding the possible location of BotCon 2014 thanks to some detective work by TFW2005 members. According to a recent phone inquiry and conversation with a Pasadena Convention Center employee, the Pasadena Convention Center, home to many past BotCons, has the possible dates of June 18-22 2014 scheduled for yet another BotCon convention, according to the employee.

Furthermore, the Sheraton Pasadena Hotel appears to also have a block of rooms scheduled for the same time frame with a discounted rate similar to prior BotCon years.

Although we've heard many rumors regarding a return to Pasadena, please treat this as a RUMOR and take with a grain of salt. The location and time of BotCon 2014 has NOT been confirmed by any representatives of BotCon or the Transformers Collector's Club. If/when official confirmation is confirmed we will report it here. Additionally, as more information crosses the wire regarding BotCon 2014, refer back here for any updates.

Sound off on the potential of this rumor after the jump.

At this rate they might as well make Pasadena a permament residance for Botcon.

Even though this gives me yet another shot at going to Botcon, it must suck big time for you people in the east.

though i see nothing to prove this to be true yet, it wouldn't suprise me if they did pasadena again, botcon is pretty much stay in california it seems, even if they say it won't, the facts prove otherwise

It has had its time in the east long enough. West is where it needs to be. Makes things easier for Hasbro to have it in the west, right next to SDCC
allew
It's a movie year so it makes sense for it to be in Pasadena, hopefully we can get a movie screening (more likely a preview). The good thing about being near LA is that there should be plenty of voice actor guests!

There goes the fun of waiting for the Pre announcement announcements. I'll try to make it though. I've got enough miles saved up for free flights.

But what about the people in the East Coast who wanted to go but can't afford it? That's something to consider. I understand why Hasbro's doing it but at this rate I wish the East coast would at least have one year.

Gee I wonder why the official Transformers convention is in California every year there is a new movie. Almost like there is a pattern.
Dinobot Nuva

Can someone confirm the data as I cannot find it on the event calendar?

sadly this seems to be coming true. I have been considering join the fan club but when they pull this crap and keep it in the same state two ( or is it three ?) years running if this proves accurate it makes me not want to.

It makes me feel the fans in the midwest and east don't matter to them, and as such why should i give them any money?

Figured with the 30th Anniversary and a new Movie, Hasbro would do it back at home, Providence for the full anniversary celebration, like they did in 07 with the first movie

But what about people on the West who couldn't afford to go to the east...

It is what it is. Many people will have to travel no mater where they put it. A flight in the states is a flight in the states. It pretty much is going to cost around the same price give or take a couple of hundred. That is the only real issue right?

It's all about planning.

IIRC, it's been in the west since 2011. Last time I remember it being in the East was 2010.

I get that but it does seem like the west is getting too much attention for Botcon while at the east most people can't really afford to go even if they wanted to. I just wish we could find a way to have the convention for one side one year then for another year the next.

I want one in R.I....
grimlock1972
Seriously if Botcon is going to be a moving convention then move it, have it in a different state every year and no state that has it can have it again for five years to give as many folks as possible a chance to go as not everyone can afford to book a flight and a hotel room half way or further across the country.

Seriously every State in the union has a hotel/convention center that could handle Botcon, I can understand not going to Alaska or Hawaii as they would add significant hurdles and expense in planning it.
bradforj
They seriously need to consider doing two cons a year. Call one of them Botcon East and the other one Botcon West. Having the damned thing in California year after year is unfair douchebaggery. California already gets SDCC, and now it gets Botcon permanently too? Hello?! There is more to this country than the State of California.

Yes, I am aware that it has been held outside California on multiple occasions. The fact remains that it keeps finding its way back to a state that is as far as possible from the Eastern (more populated) part of the country. Either have two of them or alternate regions by thirds. For example, have it in the Eastern 1/3rd of the country, then the Central 1/3rd, then the Western 1/3rd, then start the rotation over again.

I have always been curious why nobody complains about TFCON not moving around.. seems like a smart thing so people can plan better.

Just announce it's always going to be in California if you're going to pull this "twice-in-a-row-bullshit" and drop the pretenses. I hate getting my hopes up only to have them dashed :/

This Is Horrible News. How Pathetic. This Makes Me Sick! California Gets EVERYTHING! If I Ever Want To Go To Any Good Convention, I'll Have To MOVE To California.
Chris McFeely
If anyone expected it WASN'T going to be in California in a MOVIE YEAR, line up, 'cause I've got a slap for you.
