What's your source for this information? I don't think Hasbro releases sales data.
There was one or two shelfwarming figures and packs (Mirage, Ultimate Battle, etc.), but many of the figures seemed to sell quite well.

That or Road Ranger.
So the others would be....
Crosswise=Crasher
Hot Shot=Stinger
Grimlock=Creepy/Bladez
Starscream=Skyjack
Ramrider:
Mostly like your thinking, lad. But Road Ranger would surely be an Armorhide redeco, not a Prime?
(Heh. Just noticed you're from my former twin town! )

However, if it's a dark color Prime, it'll be the same effect toy-wise, even if the character is something different. | Maybe the Optimus Prime mold is Megatron. Maybe the Autobots got Decepticon sparks and vice versa.

Lots of people think those unused protos for Titaniums mean we will get loads of classics. If we get more than 6-8 molds in the next 2 years I would be surprised. We will get Wave 1, and then a wave 2 which is a repaint of half the wave 1 molds. By that time TF Movie 2 will be back and animated will be all over the shelves.
So this OH NOES! We could get springer and Jazz and like 20 other G1 transformers is not realistic. | You have anything to back this up, or is it opinion? What I see is a line that wasn't slated to continue, but was popular enough and sold well enough to be revived. I wasn't aware that Hasbro revived cancelled lines that did nothing more than 'clog shelves.'
Basketball Jones:
I've never heard of sales figures for any Transformers figure being released in recent times, so any statement we make is speculation. Saying that the line "clogged shelves" seems suspect unless you have access to statistics that the rest of the board does not.
However, the following statements are facts:
Hasbro is reviving the Classics brand in this new series.
Hasbro's goal is to make money.
From this, we can conclude that something about Classics resulted in Hasbro treating the line as more than just shelfwarming trash.

Also, you live about 2 hours away from where I used to live when I was younger (Newmarket). Dad was stationed at Lakenheath, for 4 years in the mid '80s. Good times. Jarodimus: Quote:

For every person who says they saw tons of Mirages, Ramjets, and Starscreams on clearance, there's probably a person who only saw them once each.

And the toys are looking to be significantly differently styled than Classics. As stated by Hasbro, and reiterated here by Kicky and nkelsch, they're going for the realistic vehicle look with Universe, and carrying on, to some extent, the Movie toy stylings. Quote: |

I'm guessing that something is that it was popular with the adult fans, and they're hoping to cash in on that. By continuing the G1 homage characters while furthering the Movie aesthetic, I'd bet they're hoping to get the attention of both the kiddos and us old farts. As a line with (AFAIK) no supporting fiction, it couldn't hurt.
Or, maybe I'm talking out my arse, and Classics V1 was a HUGE success. But I haven't seen Hasbro say that, and they sure haven't been shy about how wildly successful the Movie toyline has been.

A LOT better. | Heh *quietly chuckles to himself*
Optimus747:
The information is now up at Botcon.com.
The theme is a universe where the maniacal tyrant Optimus Prime and the evil Autobots seek to take over Earth's resources, while the heroic Decepticons try to stop them.
"Shattered Glass" set includes Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Autobot Jazz, and Goldbug, as well as Starscream and Razorclaw (a Minicon).
Guess the original poster had his info right.
Now, to choose between this set or the Club exclusives...

That's a lower-case attempt to claim HE TELL ME. And the official site makes it seem like it's exactly what it sounds like: a Mirrorverse.
EDIT: Oops, got beaten to it. Serves me right for wandering off with an open window...
EDIT EDIT: Pete's changed his avatar to none other than Mirrorverse Spock.

Gears:
This set sounds very lame to me.
Hoolagrin:
I had hesitation about last years set, and I now love it. The only problem I have with this set is that I really HATE the cybertron crosswise/smokescreen mold. Honestly I'd rather have another bot than give Jazz such a poor mold. I wonder which minicon is razorclaw? Maybe snarl from the predator attack team?

The other molds are fine, I guess, but the only one I'm kinda interested in is good-guy Starscream. Maybe Goldbug.
Cincy is sooo close too... I might actually go to this BC, but I don't really want any of the exclusives, from the sounds of things
Oh well.
hotspot17:
Wow, they really couldn't think of something better? It's like Transformers and Doctor Who crashed together and gone bad. Another universe where autobots are bad and decepticons are good? Guess I will be staying home this year.

Oh well. | I would go, as I live in Ohio and the location is pretty much perfect for me, but, the timing isn't, as I have finals that week. If I can, I'm going to try and save up enough money to buy Goldbug and Starscream off of someone who doesn't want them (I'm thinking that's going to be a little tough though, lol). I'm thinking that Jazz will be the one most don't want.
I'm really curious as to who the other exclusives will be. One will, imo, probably be Classics Megs done up in good guy colors (Prime colors maybe?). A good guy Soundwave would be cool too, but, I'm not sure what mold would work for it.
cobra zartan:
man the crosswise mold sucks and a minicon...the bonus figure better be freaking amazing cause im not so impressed

Agreed on the fact that last year's set was so awesome, kinda feel like this year is a let down, unless this Good Guy Megatron is something neat. I wonder if they are following DC's multiple universe comic Countdown.
Galaxy Convoy:
No disresepct, but if you guys were really expecting this year's set to be as good as last year's, you were only fooling yourselves. I don't think anything could live up to that.
Optimus747:
Well, good thing people don't like this one that much, means it'll be easier to get 'em off eBay!
hXcpunk23:
Sounds cool.
The funniest thing about this thread is the fact that quite a few people didn't believe and were quick to judge. Next time, be patient, wait, and see. You never know who is spouting truth or lies and instead of assuming there's "not a chance in hell", give 'em the benefit of the doubt.
Incepticon:
Last year's set was definitely an anomaly, but only because of a certain 3 figures that were essentials as far as many collectors were concerned.
I have never regretted missing prior convention sets since the figures & character choices always seemed like (no offence to anyone) exagerated fanwank wishes simply turned into a reality for the sole sake of having something available at the convention. This year seems no different, so in a way is right back on par with how things normally go, subsequently meaning I'm not disappointed in the least. Hell, I was more disappointed that I *did* have to get last year's set, hehe. But truth be told, save for the 3 Seekers, last year was still actually quite similar to years prior, what with the Alpha Trion, Huffer, Springer, clear Mirage, Dreadwind & Bugbite aka repainted figures and/or character choices that I could care less about, let alone want.
I'll start to get worried when BotCon or SDCC start actively releasing figures that I actually want/need for collection completion. But in the meantime if they continue to just release what I consider to be take-it-or-leave-its, I'll be more than happy. And relieved.

And relieved. | If BotCon (and SDCC, probably, although they're more diverse, to be sure) starts making a habit of releasing figures that are "take-it-or-leave-its", they'll go out of buisness, and then NONE of us will get these figures!

ahaha. i bet those naysayers early in the thread feel like douches now.

Someone makes an account that...seems to have been created JUST to post this, and their source is, "friend told me", we have every reason to be skeptical.

While I personally think that's exactly what the convention exclusives are (save for 3 figures last year), I also know that my opinion is beyond a vast minority in that regard. What I might consider take-it-or-leave-its, 500 other people will consider must-haves, as evidenced by all the previous years as well as this upcoming set.
As long as there are BotCon's, they'll be just fine where their exclusives are concerned, and FP will continue to release figures that people clammer for. I'm just happy that I don't necessarily have the desire to get figures of this nature. It's a positive all the way around - certain convention attendees & collectors get something they want while people like me get to breathe a sigh of relief that 99% of the time it's nothing we'll lose sleep over by not getting.
I know that kind of sounds like a backhanded compliment, but that's not the way I intend it.
DecepticusPrime:
evil autobots? Lame. Heroic Megatrom that likely turns into a pistol? real heroic...Unless the use that crappy tank mold and they better not. since the theme seems mostly to be classics charecters
Feralstorm:
Welcome to the Rakshaverse!
Razorclaw:
I'd lazzy right now, so I don't wanna go through 14 pages, but did people apologize to darthconvoy, since he was right all along?? Can we ever doubt the man? He joined the boards just to share such an important information with us all.
DecepticusPrime:
I hardly find an apology to be neccessary. He was vague with his source and we have EVERY right to be a naysayer.
Nightrain:
It's still hilarious how much crow had to be eaten.

| Except where it isn't, since Starscream, Goldbug and Jazz would all be pre-classics molds. We have no shortage of viable Megatron designs.
That seems like a large conclusion to leap to, is all.
