but wont the symbol be on the underside of his chest...and sorta upside down, like the RID decepticons?
Robogeek28:
Very nice, consider my membership renewed in February Pete.

That looks nothing like the one I made, lol.

Now it looks like I may have to change my original character's name.

Yeah, real cheap asses here. First, it's a deluxe (previous years were basics). Second, it has a remolded combiner head. Third, it ties into the other club fiction - unless you really think they did all of BotCon 2008 just to keep from molding a different faction symbol for the club freebie.
Don't forget fourth and fifth-- the mold itself doesn't have a allegiance symbol molded on it, and they only have so much they can allot to remolding-- compared to new heads, a remolded faction symbol for '06 Rhinox seems pretty inconsequential.

He's a heroic Shattered Glass Decepticon turned heroic regular universe Autobot.

you know, i'm not going to complain much because i don't collect much anymore, and i'm not a club member, but this has to be a rather annoying thing for the club members. remember when they first pitched the club to everyone; saying how the figures were going to be remolds and one brand new mold by the end of the 5 figure series?

I do recall that, but I don't really mind, given that this is the selection of molds I wished were used for bruticus. I was much more annoyed in energon that they used limbs twice.

This guy has the best of superion and bruticus, all military molds, and no silverbolt to wreck it, so for that I am happy.

Translucent Plastic also makes me happy. The alleged remolded head for the combiner mode also makes me happy, provided it doesn't suck.

Actually there are only 2 things that bother me about this, the 5 year wait in general, and the fact that Breakaway comes with Hand/Foot parts that do not match the other three limbs. That actually really annoys me.

Skyfall, Lanquake, and Topspin also come with translucent Red limb parts, while Breakaway has smoke grey limb parts.
Silent_Magnus:
I guess I'm a bit lucky in that I only joined last February, and that I never owned any of these molds before.
Takara_destron:
Thats a sweet looking figure, love the two faction symbols.

You knew there was no chance for a brand new mold ever.

There was never a promise of a brand new mold.
Bryan:
I'll believe the new head when I see it...
SmokescreenGT:
Nice figure! I especially like the colors. Too bad I'm not a member anymore.
G1Wheeljack:
Looks cool, I wish it was transparent though. I'll probably be getting this.

Well, they never said new mold (as others have pointed out).

But the remold thing - everyone knew that wasn't going to happen after the first year. If anyone was annoyed about it, they had the right to be the first year, but after that, we've known what we were getting here. If every year some club member has been saying to themselves "DAMMIT! NO REMOLD AGAIN? ARRGGH!!!", then they're kinda just idiots.

And yes - I'm sure FP wishes they had a time portal so they could go back retract that statement hehe. It's been pointed out to them time and time again, and it's a dead horse at this point. Noone cares.

I'm guessing you missed Pete's post. The blue in translucent.

So this will complete the combiner. What's FP's plans after this? If they keep doing combiners...well, I'm a sucker for combiners.

No more combiners please.

I think it pretty much has to be a combiner, from a business perspective. A nice looking combiner set pretty much guarantees a decent chunk of multi-year subscribers.

yeah, thats a good point...but maybe they'll do something like energon deluxes to have at least a two year run by combining...i think that's what i'm really curious to see, is the 2010 figure...my subscription is up in april, which means i'm getting Heatwave, and most likely i'll renew without seeing a new toy, because i enjoy the comic, and really think FP has done a great job, and want to keep supporting the club...

I'd be cool with some old combiners - G1 Devastator in white/red as SG Devastator (2 toys a year since they're small), or G2 Stunticons.

But please not another Energon combiner.

Combiners are a good idea from a business perspective, but look, the GI Joe club's membership figures obviously are not combiners, so it's not a necessary condition of FP's business practices.

I love combiners too, but what is there left to use? Another Energon 5-piece gestalt would be repetitive since between the 2, limb molds would have to be doubled up. (There are certainly repaints *I'd* go for, but I know I love those molds more than the average fan does) So excluding them, there's not much left for future combiners.

Options:
1.) The Energon Autobots are only 2-piece combiners, so just a 2-year thing, not really a multi-year thing. Could do some kind of team theme[matching color schemes on all the deluxe Energon autobot molds] to stretch it for more years but would the repeated colors and unnecessary nature of members beyond 2 keep interest up? Plus, like the Energon 5-piecers, there's a vocal part of the fanbase that's not too crazy about these molds.

2.) Magnaboss or Tripredacus, but are those molds available and useable? Also, are they gang-molded? (Seems like some parts are between Sea Clamp & Ramhorn at least) If so FP would have to pay for 3 years worth of membership figures right at the outset.

3.) G1 combiners? Seacons would be double-dipping on that, I think Tiger Ruination ended Bruticus's mold useability and I thought all the others were also unavailable/not useable.

4.) RID combiners: Landfill's had a lot of uses and while Railracer is too expensive for Hasbro's taste to repaint, the club could maybe do it, but to do them as membership figures I imagine the subscription price hike would probably do more damage than the multi-year incentive would do good. (Likewise with such large scale combiners as Omega Prime, Jetpants Prime, Tidalwave/Megatron, Energon Voyagers, etc.)

5.) Movie Devastator: the toy itself may not be feasible to break up, but almost assuredly off-limits to the club anyway.

6.) Micromaster or Minicon combiners: What, get 1 minicon or 2 micromasters each year for 3 years? I'd guess that'd be viewed as a huge step down, probably even if the subscription price were lowered along with it.

So how could they do another combiner?
Kupp:
They could start something like, Energon Devestator in G2 colors, or hell, Heroic Decepticon Combiner, or even an Autobot version of that.

I would like to see them get out of energon after 5 years though.

I wouldn't mind a Micromaster combiner, provided is done like nightbeat or seacons, that is an exclusive, but not the yearly exclusive.

I would argue with the idea that Combiners make business sense. As we can now see, just join on the 5 year and pay member prices for the previous ones then. That circumvents the whole idea of combiners being a business gimmick, and would save those overseas bundles of money.
Fosterlager:
I think the club is going to have problems finding good redecoes to make that Hasbro isn't already doing as line filler or store exclusives. They'll have to start claiming Animated molds before they are repainted to death too.
shocky the spy:
Awesome!
autobotx25:
i was suprised when i found him in the background of this picture on megatrons wing.
Omegatron1:
I would be all for Shattered Glass Devastator, but waiting 6 years for it...I dunno. Two a year would be good. I don't think the BW combiners would be enough to lure new club members in. I think Classics Sunstorm would make a good filler piece, if needed.

While we're on the subject of exclusives, would FP be able to team up with Hyperspace and do the SWTF Millenium Falcon with Lando and Nien Nunb?
Hiro Prime:
Shattered Glass Micro Team combiners could be a good fill. They could do the White/Red Constructicons to test the waters and then follow up with An Evil Areialbot set the following year and an Evil Protectobot set the year after that.

Hell, If they wanted to keep the subscriptions up, they could even change their mailing on the issues with the club magazine to include one free Micromaster combiner part per issue. You'd have to get all six mags to complete you combiner.

Please don't post content taken from the TFCC members only area.

Though I think that scene was in the comic, I remember spotting him at the time which was a bit of a surprise.

Though it means more tales from the Shattered-verse, so I'm down with that.
Silent_Magnus:
I do think they should do another "set" of figures, but not combiners.
As there doesn't really seem to be many options in terms of modern molds.

I think some sub-group type deal would be cool.

yeah like we'll ever get an impactor figure! ask your dad's kids

The TFCC is the perfect outlet for guys like Impactor, Flame or Emirate Xaaron. Obscure characters only fans could know. Personally, I'd love a Xaaron.

I couldn't agree more! Alpha Trion is probably my favorite TFCC exclusive made to date.

Silent_Magnus:
I doubt they could fulfill my dream of a Spanner figure.
Lord Gravestorm:
A mold for Scrounge, Straxus, Xaaron or just any character that didn't get much focus on themselves in the old Marvel comics. What say you?
Silent_Magnus:
Scrounge transforms into a wheel.
Only two transforming toys that I know of that do that are both made by bandai.
xZAOx:
I've been yammering for that for a while (Marvel set that is). I even made a set of quick and crappy photoshops for Xaaron, Straxus, Scrounge, Impactor, and Jhiaxus. I like most of the mold choices, but Xaaron I'd probably find something different, or at least mod the cannons off.
Lord Gravestorm:

If they made a larger mold, resembling that rolling tank from Star Wars 2, that shot all the missiles, with the big rolling wheels. A vehicle with two big wheels of some sort, resembling Scrounge in some way. That'd be sweet. Scrounge needs at least a toy.
Lucs:
No matter who the next exclusives are they should at least choose very popular molds(mostly classics if I had my way). I think that coupled with obscure characters with awesome color schemes would be a good way to go.

I'd like to see all new characters from -
Sunstreaker mold in blue, black, white or even green
Prowl mold in black, burgandy, gold, or purple
Bumblebee mold in tapout or glyph colors
Cyclonus mold in red, black, or blue
Hound mold in desert colors are arctic colors
Lord Gravestorm:
Like a redecoed Cyclonus, with head remold, as Strafe or Scattershot.
Yellow redeco of Hound as Swindle.
Red and white redeco of Sideswipe as Red Alert.

Something like that. I'd really like those to happen one time.
