UltraPrimal:
The Official Transformers Collectors Club has updated with a preview of the new head sculpt for their upcoming club exclusive Punch/Counterpunch, a retool of the Universe Sunstreaker/Sideswipe mold.
Right now it's only a sketch of Punch's side on the head. But if you are a member you can see the whole turnaround. If not, you'll have to wait till next week.
Link here:
http://www.transformersclub.com/ PoweredConvoy:
The head is extremely impessive with the head lid that moves to cover up the other side of the face just like the old one.
Randy
Gort:
I can't wait. This was one of my favorite G1 toys and I've been very excited ever since I heard about this.
DoubleClouder:
That looks really good. Glad they took the time to make the mask pivot like the original
Jarodimus:
Woo. If the sculpt comes anywhere near pulling off what's shown in the sketch, it'll be a thing of beauty.
ghowildseven:
It's insteresting to see the final product.
tony77tony77:
i can't wait!!!
ORIO:
That looks amazing! I love Counterpunches face! So sweet
Sol Fury:
That, is totally awesome. He's getting bought either way, but this just makes it oh so much cooler.
GogDog:
Wow, I just logged in and looked, it looks great.
lotussouljah:
YES love the gimmicks! If I don't already own a custom one, I would totally be all over this! Makes me wonder if Hasbro was tuning into all these Punch/Counterpunch customs and decided to make theirs official................
Slimaximus:
Instant buy hands down, may buy 2 don't know, but looks freaking SWEET
TheBigMachine:
I'm guessing he can be transformed like Sideswipe or Sunstreaker (with the different chests)? I may need two or three of this. One for Punch mode, one for Counterpunch mode and one for alt. mode.
SmokescreenGT:
Looks good to me. This mold will serve Punch/Counterpunch very well. Can't wait to see the finished product!
Bgrngod:
I'd love to be able to access the member's only section, but apparently if your activation key fails once they can't send it to you again and you'll never get access beyond that page.
Fantastic! At least I still get the toys each year.
EDIT: Wow, so on a lark I punched in 123456 after having been locked out of for 8 months and it appears to have worked...
The head art looks fantastic! I'm pretty excited for this figure because it seems to damn obvious for a P/CP.
EDIT2: Ok, was STILL locked out after trying to get the member's only store, but THAT page actually has an "email me my reg code" link, so now I am in for good I think. Off-topic rant /end.
ryan.j:
is there a limit on the number of these members of the CC can buy?
i'm not a member of the TFCC (i honestly can't justify the huge expense for international membership) and untill i've seen the toy i don't want to commit to buying anything, but if - hypothetically - there was a UK based member of the club on here who would throw an extra order in for me what sort of cost would i be looking at?
edit. or andy from Kapow if he reads this, will you guys be stocking punch/counterpunch?
Beastbot X:
Hooray for the cover-up visor! Hooray, I say!

That's the same combination on my luggage!
Creaky:
I really hope this thing hits ebay at some point... I love punch/counterpunch.
MrFX:
How do us non-members get a hold of him?

You can still buy it from the store but with no discount that members get which is I think $40 cause that's the cost of the membership? P/CP is the exclusive, not the free toy so non members can still purchase it.
ams:
Time for my yearly login to the CC... lol
Looks great!
BScorpinok75:
I am drooling in anticipation. One of my favs from G1 brought to life in the Classic-Universe.

you find a club member you trust, possibly via a transformers forum, and ask them very nicely if they'll buy you one if you give them the cash first.
(i don't mean me - i'm not a TFCC member).
Angelwave:
Hmm...interesting. Normally I don't want anything to do with FunPub, but this might be the first exclusive I get from them.
Lucs:
Wow super nice. I wonder if they'll do some thing about the thumb on the hand like make a new mold with the thumb more in the center so it's easily used either way. Probably gonna get me 2 or more of these guys. They will without a doubt sell out really fast
ryan.j:
i assumed they were just going to make the head+misc fittings rotate 360 rather than make him properly double sided.
Ratchet2007:
I wish I could see the 360 views of the faces. I want 4 lol. Chances are I won't get one, however I really want a Punch/Counterpunch

I'm wondering about that too

Good point about the thumbs. I'm now curious about that too. Maybe a generic "middle" thumb that looks kind of like a thumb from both sides? It'd be kind of stupid to have one side with upside-down hands.
I hope they make a lot more of this figure than previous releases. This guy is going to vanish super fast if it's a small run. Much quicker than the combiner figs, that's for sure. The Superion Upgrade kit seemed to have caused a run on 2 of those figs.

Rotating 360 wouldn't really change a whole lot...

You don't need to sign up to get it

I don't think it's the free figure that they offer with the membership. I think it's just an item they sell to members only. I'm guessing it's gonna be like $20-$30 for members and what they do is tack on $40 for non-members which is the price for membership. Essentially buying the figure as a non-member causes you to become a member

.
Scantron:
Looks very interesting and I'm looking forward to picking it up. Much as I'd prefer not to join the Club again, given how much of a complete waste it's been, this figure should be good enough to justify joining the Club for the discount on it.

haha, i just spotted my mistake there :F
ANYWAY! what i was drunkenly trying to say is that i assumed his head and some of the arm kibble was going to flip around but his body was going to remain pretty much the same.

I dont expect it will be any cheaper than Nightbeat was. If the head does have a moving cover piece that means two new pieces, a new set of hands would make 4 pieces. Even if the toy doesn't come packaged with a comic I think this will cost at least $50 and wouldn't be the least bit shocked if it went over $60.
And I will probably sign up for this once I can order it, but not before. I'm sure there were people who signed up when the Seacons were sort of annouced by there appearance on the cover of master collector or some other rumour back in 2007 who would have had to renew before the pre orders finally went up last year.
Actually, unless I attend Botcon or I also like the second exclusive figure and the bonus figure for next year rejoining still wont be worth the money. I 'll just find a member who will add my order to thiers.
Hopefully they will make plenty, I can see plenty wanting at least 2.

Thanks for the responses, guys.
How much do these exclusives usually cost?
ryan, I think I'm going to find a TFCC member to help me out. I've got references, so I'd be good for it.
Galaxy Convoy:
Very nice. Should be interesting to see if the final product looks as good as the sketch. FunPub's track record with making new heads has been hit or miss. Hit for the most part, but there have been a few duds, Nexus Prime and Nightbeat come to mind.
Should also be interesting to see how good the QA will be on this. I can't imagine people will be happy when their Counterpunch visor's suddenly snap off...

Dang I forgot how much Nightbeat was. I never bought or wanted him myself so I kind of glazed over it

Really? I thought Nexus Prime's head was pretty sweet and very clean. I know some people had a problem with a part breaking on him but mine was fine until I sold it. I only sold it because the character doesn't really hit any notes for me

Nexus Prime's head really lacked details. It was pretty basic and at first it was really hard to tell what was his face and what wasn't.
And as for Nightbeat, they screwed up and forgot to take into account how much head space the mold's transformation allowed when they designed the head. So they had to neuter his head antennas. And IMO, that really hurt the overall look of the head.

Regarding remolded headsculpts, I own Airazor & Nightbeat and IMO, I'd say their heads are pretty good likenesses

. About Quality Control, I've seen some sloppy paintjobs on some prior TFCC figures so I really hope they don't screw up the detailed paintjob that
Punch/Counterpunch requires.

Is that why? I thought I had some other reason at the time. Can't remember what though
Railguard:
I can not wait to get this freaking toy!!!!
guard convoy:
but didn't we already see both sides of the head in the first drawing of this figure?
Mechafire:
He's definitely being bought, though this head makes it all the more sweeter.

The pic available for members shows how the head gimmick will work
