nice

1st post!!!
MegaMoonMan:
$120 + shipping - I'll have to pass.
Ruination04:
PASS for me also. Even if I were to spend $120 on, it would have to be original G1 colors.
Robogeek28:
The price for Nightbeat is a surprise, but not the Seacons, I knew they'd be over $100 easy.

As for Nightbeat, I lost interest in him long ago, the delay killed any interest I had in him, especially now when I'm selling all but my favorite Classics figs.

I can't believe I actually thought Nightbeat would cost around what Airrazor did.

edit: Just noticed you hafta preorder them seperately as well since they won't be shipped together, tsk tsk.
shibamura_prime:
I'll bite on the Seacons. Nightbeat I'm gonna have to noodle over.
omega ranger:
Nightbeat is awesomesauce, but I thought they were going to release the Seacons in 3 2-packs. I really can't afford anything over $100.

I can't wait. Nightbeat...is MINE. *Subtle evil music, followed by DUN DUN DUNNNNN*
Tenebrouser:
Seacons: That price killed it for me. If they would have done it in the G1 colors, I'd be all over it.

Nightbeat: Pass.
Thundershot:
Ouch.

I'm trying to figure out how a $30 toy (Armada Jetfire as Astrotrain) and a set of Minicons ($7) could go for $95 WITH A NEW HEAD FOR ASTROTRAIN, yet the Seacons, which were going to be $30-$35 at Wal-Mart, and there's no remolding at all (that I saw on the one at Botcon), and it's selling for $120. Unless there's a lot of paint apps we don't know about, or there's a significantly smaller production run than Astrotrain, then this is a bit odd.... I was planning on getting multiples, but now I can't justify it at that price. I was honestly expecting $85 for some reason.

Also.... why CAN'T you ship them together? Just hold the order on the one until the other's ready. FP way overcharges for shipping as it is, and I'd much rather wait (I've already waited this long) than pay two shipping charges...

I'm not usually one to complain, but this is something I've been waiting for...

Wasn't Astrotrain $87?

Bumble Prime:
Ya know thundershot has a point, especially if these really are old stock produced years ago and shelved as the legend goes.....
SmokescreenGT:
I still have my original G1 Seacons and they're in pretty good shape, so I'm not spending another $120 plus s/h. Pass.

Nightbeat I'll have to mull over a bit.
Vector Sigma:
I bought some originals a while back, and I'm not a member of the club, so pass for me. But I'm pleased that the Club has gone to all the effort to actually offer these at all...

No, they're not old stock. There were some test shots, but no actual production run. Hence why we're seeing new test shots on ebay.

Chris (now wonders if Takomy is going to do an Encore King Poseidon set...)
xZAOx:
I like the art there with it. Pretty snazzy.

$50 for Nightbeat and a comic isn't too bad, I don't guess. Wish he had some ears, but nothing can be done about that, I understand it's not FP's fault.

But $120 on the Seacons? Definitely the high side of things. I'll probably still get them, but I'm going to have to think it over. If they'd been $99, I wouldn't have hesitated.

Very upset that they won't combine shipping. I'm liable to wait till they're both released so I can have them shipped together. Or until they go on discount making one basically free =P. (Too bad they won't give those of us that bought Airazor already a discount on Astrotrain, but that's not really on topic.)

Man, if they did that, and include all 6 members and all the extra guns, that'd be so bought. All said and done, I still think he had the best colors of the 3 we've seen for this mold.

Well... King Poseidon is the same as the G1 Seacons. God Neptune is the white repaint that doesn't include the guns and stuff...

I have God Neptune, and I'm afraid to do much with them, since the white plastic is so frelling fragile...

But if Takara-Tomy did an Encore reissue in the original colors, and then had an E-hobby set as God Neptune with an extra member and all of the weapons, I'd be in heaven. I wouldn't bitch so much about spending 120 on the Club one.

Chris
Liege Prime:
That does seem pretty pricey but not really surprising. Nightbeats price seems a little more hard to believe actually then the Seacons. I expected the seacons to be about $100. If they remolded Nightbeat to actually be a headmaster, then it would be more attractive.

I really do want there to be something too good for me to keep passing on joining the TFCC, but I don't think this is going to.
UTK007:
Can't wait. Will be getting at least one of each.

(Edit: Just read the other posts and now worried about a TakaraTomy Encore Seacon set. Maybe I will just get Nightbeat.)
Autovolt 127:
I can't get either. i don't have enough. Maybe later on.
Locustreign:
Nightbeat = mine.
Seacons - I'll have to think about, since a) price and b) can't ship together (which is REALLY irritating because the club's international shipping prices are rather high from what I can tell)

Whoops - for some reason when I read your comment, I thought of God Neptune. I guess I just have God Neptune on the brain ;-)
Runamuck:
I'm going to have to pass on these for now. Nightbeat I don't care enough about to want to get him when preorders go up, and Seacons are too expensive for me right now.
Lumpy:
nightbeats price isnt bad, considering the rising cost of EVERYTHING...and he comes with a comic...thats cool

seacons i definitely gotta wait for...i just can't afford that much right now...though even if they were 99, i'd probably still have to wait for awhile...

pete, a few questions...
1. when we place a preorder, are we required to pay immediately? or do we pay when the figures are ready to ship?

2. is there a limit to the number of figures someone can buy?

3. lastly, what's the production numbers on these?

thanks...
NIDARAM12:
$60 for an Energon Deluxe. Awesome.

I miss the day of 5 UPC mail-away offers
DeathStorm:
So are the Seacons only offerred to members? I have to assume, based on past products, that the quoted price is only for club members? If they are offerred to non-members, any speculation on what would the price be?

I would't mind paying a bit for them, but within some reason.

They're only offered to club members. Usually what they do, is if a non-member wants to buy something, it's $40 more - basically they charge you the cheapest yearly member fee, make you a member, then sell you the toy.

Just get someone from the club to order one for you. The only thing is that they'll hafta ship to whoever places the order, you'd hafta pay to have it shipped to the one that bought it for you and have them send it to ya.
ckhtiger:
I'm not trying to flamebait or anything but wait--people will spend $150-200 aftermarket on a single classics seeker jet repaint, but are saying that the seacon set is too pricey at $120? I've go the original set and if I was a member, I'd STILL be all over this one. I dun get it...

We'll see if it's made available to non-members. If not, then I'll go this route.

Airazor was/is $42. I'd say a $6 difference is "around".

Yeah. I find that particularly annoying. Airazor and Astrotrain shipped together for... $8, IIRC.

Why can't this year's toys be co-shipped?

No need to hyperbole up the price another 25%.

i think people were just expecting something closer to the price of astrotrain...and the seacons in these colors arent nearly as important as a blue jet may be to some people....
Mirage232:
So if I'm not a member of this club, the Seacons are going to be even more than $119.00? Pass. Sorry, as much as I love the Seacons, I already have a complete G1 Piranacon, and I just can't spend that amount because a) I already spent $125.00 pre-ordering the Henkei Thundercracker and Skywarp set and b) knowing that at one point these were going to originally be around 35-40 dollars at retail makes it even harder to justify spending that amount. Yes, it is better than not releasing them at all, but it still doesn't doesn't console my wallet.

But people DO bitch about the aftermarket on it. That's why so many threads fell into ruin.

There's almost ALWAYS someone who'll buy something, regardless of the price. But the majority of people won't pay that much, therefore "can't" get the toy they want, and hence the complaints. This is the same thing.

1. yes, you pay when you place the order

2. no, within reason of couse

3. 1,500 on the Seacons / 1,200 on Nightbeat

Also, I am starting a poll on the club boards in the club news and updates section. If people want we can push these out another month or so if people want to pre-order and have them shipped at the same time.

Note that once they are in stock there is only one shipping charge (if there are any left). It is only when you pre-order that we have 2 separate shipping charges.
Blitzwing256:
I let my club membership slip, but for repainted g1 goodness i'm definatly renewing my membership.

after all the fan crying for these i'm exstatic we'll finally get em, yes the price is expensive but much better then never being able to get them at all.

and just try to get a complete g1 set for under 120$ ;-)
nkelsch:
The same people with the artificial expectations of retail comparative prices yet again are confused and befuddled and can't understand why they cost so much. Or they understand and want companies to operate a to a loss so they can get items at what they determine the worth to be.

It is (MOLD + Mats for production run) / Production Run = Cost. Lower the run, higher the cost. They are not simply sitting on 500% profit on these.

How many times do they have to do limited production runs and have it all explicitly explained before people will stop with "This is a 9.99$ I don't understand"

I said a year ago it would be 100$+ and people called me crazy and other names.
SPLIT LIP:
Just a quick question: Is it possible to order stuff from the TF club without being a member? I understand it may cost more, but do they do that?
keebs:
Are club exclusives normally sealed in a box or just in a box with no tape?

They're done like the BotCon box. Bottom half with foam inside, and the top piece with artwork that slips on and off the bottom half. No tape or anything.

Wondering that myself, it hasn't really been stated yet in this thread.

Are you talking about the recently revealed Henkei Skywarp and Thundercracker? Because if you, they aren't $120 for one figure. That's for both figures, plus the shipping. But that's only for one particular member who is pretty awesome for doing this for us in the first place.
UTK007:
Pete,
Since this Seacon set is in new colors and there is concern for an Encore reissue set in traditional colors, is this a set of new characters? The only way I could justify buying it would be if it were all new characters that TakaraTomy wouldn't be making.
Deceptigtar:
i want these guys, might have to have a memeber grab me one. price is high as it is, plus ebay will be dumb as hell prices with this guy.

Except for where I said it right above a few posts ago ;-)

For non-member items, I don't think they charge any extra.

Basically if you are *NOT* a member... They force the membership into your order.

So it will be 120$ + 40$. But you will get the Seacons, the 2008 exlusive club figure and a year's worth of magazines.

By time you have someone else order it for you and they re-re-ship it you probably are going to spend close to 20$.
