  • Steve Blum, voice of Heatwave and Transformers Prime Starscream.
  • Parvesh Cheena, voice of Blades.
  • D.C. Douglas, voice of Chase.
  • Imari Williams, voice of Boulder.
  • Elan Garfias, voice of Cody Burns.
  • Jason Marsden, voice of Kade Burns and Duke on G.I. Joe Renegades.
  • Shannon McKain, voice of Graham Burns.
  • Diamond White, voice of Frankie Green.
  • Brian Hohlfeld, supervising producer and co-creator of Rescue Bots.
  • Nicole Dubuc, story editor and co-creator of Rescue Bots, who has also written for Transformers Prime!
  • Greg Johnson, story editor for Rescue Bots, who has also written for Beast Wars and G.I. Joe Renegades!

You can meet all eleven of these guests at Botcon 2013 on the Saturday of the convention weekend, 29 June. To find out what else is in store and pre-register to attend this year's convention head over to the Botcon homepage!

BRIAN HOHLFELD is the Supervising producer/co-creator of Rescue Bots. He also wrote the movie "He said, She said" and has worked extensively on the Winnie the Pooh franchise.

NICOLE DUBUC is the Story editor/co-creator of Rescue Bots. Having started out as a child actor, Nicole began a career writing for children's television with credits on Kim Possible, Transformers Prime and of course, Rescue Bots!

GREG JOHNSON is a Story editor for Rescue Bots. Long time Transformers fans will note that before Rescue Bots, Greg wrote four episodes of BEAST WARS. Since then his writing has included Ultimate Avengers, G.I. Joe Renegades and Rescue Bots.

STEVE BLUM has voiced hundreds of amazing characters and is most well known to Transformers fans as Starscream from Transformers Prime and Heatwave from Rescue Bots.

PARVESH CHEENA recently starred in NBC's Outsourced as the lovable Gupta and is currently the voice of the aerial bot Blades on Rescue Bots.

D.C. DOUGLAS has a long list of TV and Video Game credits to his name but to Transformers fans, Chase the Rescue Bot is at the top of that list!

IMARI WILLIAMS had provided voices for several Video Game's before landing his first animation role as the muscle behind the Rescue Bots, Boulder!

ELAN GARFIAS provides the voice for the youngest of the Burns siblings, Cody Burns, a young but already skilled Rescue worker!

JASON MARSDEN has done a variety of voice over work, including voicing Duke from G.I. Joe Renegades, and currently can be heard on Rescue Bots as the ill-tempered Kade Burns, older brother to Cody.

DIAMOND WHITE has provided voices for Phineas and Ferb, was a final 5 contestant on "The X Factor" and can currently be heard as the voice of Doc Greene's daughter, the strong willed Frankie Greene, on Rescue Bots

SHANNON McKAIN has appeared on CSI, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and to Transformers fans, the voice of the Rescue worker Graham Burns!

First MLP and now Rescue Bots.

I'll bring the kiddie pool. Who's bringing the shark?

I don't watch Rescue Bots, but I will be attending this just for Steve Blum.

No disrespect intended to the talent behind RescueBots, but this is underwhelming for me. I'd love to meet Steve Blum for sure, but this feels like it's a miss towards the core Transformers Fan.

I know some people who watch RescueBots with their kids. Maybe I'm wrong ... I could just be a Debbie Downer.

This is super cool! I hope this means a second season is forthcoming.

There's nothing wrong with this news in and of itself. There SHOULD be things for the kids.

The only problem is that there's been so little for the rest of us announced yet. If this is the extent of the guest list, then there's a problem. If they really do have more for the rest of us, I see no reason to pooh-pooh this news.

I'm just nervous that so little non-artist news has been announced at this point (barely more than a month left before the convention).

I thought that was already confirmed.

EDIT: Yes, it was.

You know, Lever Burton is also on the Rescue Bots cast. And I'd love to meet him purely because I went through school watching TNG. Maybe reading too much into it, but I suspect he might be one of the others coming.

Steve Blum is awesome too but I'll catch him at Auto Assembly.

Yup, you are right. I fully admitted I was being a Debbie Downer and jumping the gun ... but to your point, it just seems like the news for the older audience hasn't been there for BotCon 2013. Time will tell.

I'm going to hold my tongue and continue to hope this will be a fun trip.

Awesome, I only wish my son was joining me for the convention, he loves Rescue Bots.

IMO I think this is a great move by FunPub only because it brings in another generation/target of fans to the convention. Yes, I'd like more G1 VA's to be there mostly because time is not on their side (unfortunately the cold, hard truth). As a TF fan I'm happy for the other members of the fandom who are really excited about meeting these VA's.

I just hope there are going to be more VA's announced. Who knows maybe they'll make Aaron Archer a guest considering he's no longer with Hasbro.

i for one am happy they FINALLY announced more VA's but they will only be there on Sat. and these are RB VA where are the G1 VA love at.....oh that's right TFCon & TF Expo

Sol Fury
Don't forget Auto Assembly, along with Steve Blum they have Neil Kaplan and Dan Gilvezan.
UltraAlanMagnus
Does this Mean Maurice LaMarche will be joining?

Somebody BETTER ask these VA's to say funny lines in the voices of the characters that are decidedly more adult in humor. Like Blades trying to make friends with Albert Wesker.
Swoop Dogg
Resuce Bots? MLP? Is this BotCon Jr.? Color me VERY disappointed in this years edition of Botcon (aka BotCon Jr.). I can finally make a Botcon for once and these are the type of guests and exclusives I get.

Great news if you are a Rescue Bots fan. If you are, congrats. I guess.

As a Trek alum, he probably costs too much.

What kind of precedent do we have for top tier Trek folks at BotCon in the past? (Sorry Jeff Combs fans. He's not top tier.)

Please, please, don't. We get that every year, anyway.

None.

I've only watched the first few Rescue Bots episodes, but thought they were pretty decently scripted and acted so I have no issue with the hunior show having a presence.

My own view on voice actors is that once you get past that moment of "oh my god that voice I loved as a kid is coming out if that dudes mouth" it doesnt really matter what they have been in, it's all about how interesting a guest they are. Of course its even better if they do a voice you like, but Scott McNeil or David Kaye or Gregg Burger would still be entertaining guests at any convention even if you have never seen a show they have been in.

My favourite VA appearance wasnt even in person. The guy who voiced Jetfire in ROTF Mark Ryan did a skype Q&A at Auto Assembly a few years ago. When it started I thought I was going to have no interest, but he told some good stories, gave some interesting information on the filming process and managed the always difficult trick of answer some terrible, stupid, moronic questions with genuinely interesting answers.

Having said that I personally am more interested in script reading than Q&A so with so many of the cast in attendance I hope thats what we get. The two we got in 2011 and the one in 2008 where all excellent.

I have no idea, but possibly it's one of those areas that Hasbro has some input.

And no offence to Levar Burton is he even considered top tier? That is a question rather than an opinion. It's a long time since I did the conventions in the UK but I would have but most of the TNG cast (patrick Stewart aside) in the mid range of guests, above reoccurring characters, but not the headliners, at least at larger events anyway.

It's opinion, perhaps, but I'm thinking anyone who appears in the main credits of a Trek series (in every season of that series, no less) qualifies.

(There may be a few others who don't fit that criteria I'd include, too, especially for TOS, but that's a good baseline, it seems to me)

I need a kid to watch Rescue Bots?!?!? Damn! At least nine months without fun

Seriously, Rescue Bots is a funny series and, to me, is better than Transformersrime.

And, is good to remember, we need young fans if we want to have Transformers in the future.
Foster
I'd consider "top tier" consistent with "regular cast", with guest stars like John DeLancie kinda being the mid tier.
Autovolt 127
Awesome.

I hope Sumalee Montano and Daran Norris become guests here as well. They didn't attend in BotCon 2011...it would be nice if they were here as well. maybe Michael Ironside as well but that'd be a stretch and he is probably busy.
MaxxieOD
Man, a Botcon I wish I could go to! That would be so cool, I love RB so much more than Prime!

I think my statements are being taken out of context here.

I'm not saying you need a kid to watch this series ... nor do I disagree that we need young fans to carry on the franchise.

My point: at this point in time (meaning, BotCon still has time to reveal more guests, although it's late) it feels like this convention is out of touch with the core of the Transformers Fandom.

EDIT: I suppose I should add in my opinion to that statement ... IMO.

Rescue Bots is one of two major TF series which Hasbro have going at the moment. I'd be surprised if the main TF convention completely ignored a huge chunk of the brand. It would be like if they ignored Animated at BotCon 2007 and focused completely on the movie.
Foster
It's a bigger chunk of the brand than Machine Wars. I'm for a set of Rescue Bots redecoes for the next box set!
moreprimeland
Well good news for Rescue Bots fans...like me, maybe they will finally announce the starting air dates for Season 2.

Also, when do we get a DVD for Season 1??? Inquiring minds want to know--I need to clean up my DVR.

I would love a Rescue Bots box set, but I think there is probably a better chance of an all Bumblebee box set.
Omegatron
I'm very glad I'm not going to this Botcon. I'm really not sure which part of the fandom they're catering to, but Machine Wars, Rescue Bots, and MLP are probably not where the majority of fan interest lie.

I've been a supporter of FunPub and company in the past, but I'm not sure where the decision making process failed for this convention. Perhaps all the cool guests and souvenirs Botcon was supposed to have were delayed by overseas forces beyond their control.
griffin-of-oz
FunPub have GOT to get more than one Transformers Fan on staff.... as we are a different demographic to GIJoe fans. (I actually went around last year's BotCon, asking a number of the staff if they were Transformers fans YET after 8 years doing BotCon... Nup, not one. Which means they don't understand us enough to cater for us, while most of their resources are focused on creating & selling heaps of toys like MIB did in 1996... and we saw how that ended their support by the fandom.)

The line-up this year is so underwhelming, and FunPub probably wonder why they can't sell the boxsets. The major announcements so far from/for BotCon - kiddie Rescue Bots, girly My Little Pony, two recent Voice Actors that have done back-up roles, a massive over-exposure of artists that mostly have past or no official capacity with Transformers... and are we going to get any Gen1 voice Actors this year?
I feel bad for those who are going to this one as their first BotCon.
cobra zartan
Griffin, you said exactly what I was thinking. Everything about this year is looking very bleh.

Of course they don't care they get paid for this and all the other G1 VA are going to other shows maybe they see FB blows now. But wht do I know they got my $$$$
SwineTrekkie
I'm excited to see actors who are currently working on a Transformers show at the convention. G1 actors are great and all, but when they have not thought about those characters in over 20 years (and possibly have a hard time remembering the characters), its not an exciting panel. I'd rather have people who are excited about what they are currently doing. Who knows, maybe some feedback/questions from the panel will help shape the next season of Rescue Bots.
G.B. Blackrock
I'm surprised to see folks blaming FunPub for the MLP crossover cover. I'm pretty sure they had absolutely nothing to do with that. BotCon's just the place that's happening. I don't think FunPub actually asked IDW to it.
griffin-of-oz
I agree, unless we have someone officially stating that FunPub asked for it, it's not something they can be blamed for. They have enough baggage already... which was why I was careful in saying "announcements" not "created by", when referring to EVERYTHING that has been announced as news pertaining to BotCon.
I clicked on the "Convention News" filter here, and aside from having trouble finding news topics to hype up the (once) premiere Transformers Convention, all I saw that wasn't toy-related, was what I mentioned above.

And I do agree with SwineTrekkie, about having current Voice Actors. Most Gen1 Voice Actors have been pretty lively and remembered their parts, but we have had a couple that didn't really remember anything, and that's where the Organisers should prep their guests with some episodes or even the TFWiki bio, so that the VA can at least fake it for us oldies, even if it is is just doing lines in their character's voice (after having the refresher of what they sounded like).
I support exposure to current stuff, as it is great for the newer generations of fans (and I'm one of the few who is watching and collecting Rescue Bots, so will look forward to their panel), but we do need to balance it out with at least one "veteran" guest each year... just to throw us oldies a bone.
(If FunPub targets the oldies with its pre-registration packages, it would seem out of place to then target the kiddies with the convention itself.)
worldsgreatest
Do you dudes REALLY want to see the same G1 voice actors year after year after year after year? Aren't you tired of Scott McNeil by this point? No offense to Scott McNeil, or G1 voice actors.

You REALLY want the same boring stuff handed to you on a silver platter? Rescue Bots is great, its fun and caters to all ages. I guess I understand the POINT of this is con is to be all fan wanky but...man. Lighten up. Try to have fun and be positive.
Garou
Steve Blum is also a Prime voice actor... It's kind of a two-fer!
Autovolt 127
I love how people complain because the Rescue Bots cast is going there...

Because they think that if Rescue Bots cast isn't there than their dream guest would be there like Frank Welker.

I for one am looking forward to a new panel devoted to Rescue Bots. I have found that there is a lack of originality coming from the panels lately, it's the same stuff year after year.

Not all of us have had the privilege of seeing Scott McNeil, or most G1 VAs. Last year was my first Botcon, so yes...yes, I'd love to see Scott, and many others.

If Funpub asked for it than I would shake the hand of who ever had the idea. It's better than having the same old voice actors that have been to several Botcon's.

I believe the statement you're quoting was talking about the MLP cover (my comment about that was immediately before it), not the inclusion of the Rescue Bots Cast.

Yeah, that's true, but he's gone on to complain about the "kiddie" Rescue Bots, so clearly he's bothered by the inclusion of voice actors he doesn't approve of.
