holee crap O.o
now i want the comic AND the toys BGAAAWWWW
Optimus8404:
The only good thing about G2 was Geoff Senoirs short stint. Galan was horrible, and I doubt thats Yaniger's work. He's better than that.
Peaugh:
The more I think of it, what are the odds that these pages are an April Fool's joke that got sprung too early?
Anti Spark:
Art work is uhhhh!? Bad!

enjoy it while it last!
g2 4 evar mother bitchez!
Chris McFeely:
Good Lord. This *can't* be an April Fool's, because if it is, I will cry like a little baby. This is glorious. It is... genius. It's the BEST possible way to do the silly "evil universe" story that seems to have prompted such a "meh" response on the boards... to just let go and have some damned *FUN* with the concept. G2 art, everyone being exactly the polar opposite of their G1 self in a hilarious campy way... it's the realization that Transformers doesn't always have to be Serious Business, and that you can have FUUUUN with it.

In regards to the comic, I definately want to get my hands on it. Ive always loved altiverse concepts. Also, you gotta love how Altiverse Grimlock speaks like he did in "Grimlock's New Brain."

i dunno
i didnt have fun readin it
no harp on the artwork. cuz im a G2 art lover to the core but man..that writing
it hurt to put it bluntly
i got no enjoyment out of it
*shrug*
but ah well.. glad some people get some kind of entertainment out of it
"turn your headlights on sucka" ??
ugh..come on x__o
i dunno..just not into that sorta stuff i guess
Backscatter:
Never laughed so hard in a single thread ovr some of the responses I was never much a fan of G2 with all of Simon's killing but I do like the artwork. Funny too that some think this might be an April Fool's joke. Speaking of that, glad TFW 2005 didn't do something silly like last year's Transmorphers. Can't wait for Botcon 2008 and happy I have a color laser at work. RedWolf:
So wait does this mean British Bugbite is from the Gobot mirrorverse?
ZacWilliam:
I really fear the date.
Combine the date with the fact that there hasn't been any other big, obvious Aprill Fools joke today and this is looking REALLY suspicious.
And that sucks, cause frankly these pages look COOLER, and MORE FUN. than almost anything else we've gotten from the club. Seriously, these three pages have done more to make me want the exclusives than any Club material ever has before.
The G2 style is inspired. The easter-egg references are great, and the campyness is just the perfect level-note of crazy FUN.
-ZacWilliam, if this does turn out to be a joke I doubt any "reality" they replace it with would be nearly as awesome. Sigh.
ZacWilliam:
Looking it over again, closer.
The art on the final splash pannel really screams "Walky" to me. There's just something about the line work that reminds me very, very much of when he draws in someone elses style in Shortpacked. Though it's clearly someone apeing G2, Hmm..
Would that make it more or less likely to just be an April Fools. Probably more. Darn it.
-ZacWilliam, But maybe I'm just being paranoid, I really, really want this to be real. Soo much cooler than most Club/Botcon fiction
Baccala1976:
What the Wot????
Chosen:
I think being able to find these pages early, date notwithstanding, is just saying more about FP's lack of familiarity with online content than anything else. Nobody suspected the images of the exclusives were fake, and the pictures actually being on the website but not linked on it two days in advance isn't much of a shocker.
Also, I was getting a G2 vibe from these figures for a while, particularly from Prime and the written motto on his vehicle mode. It also makes some sense if you consider that Classics is an alternate continuation of the Marvel G1 comics, in place of G2. Here you have G2, but in a mirrorverse.
Op_Prime:
As a G2 fanboy, I approve of this art! Though some of the panels do seem a tad too familiar.
Liokaiser:
Wow....this convention comic for sure has me hyped. Very nice job FP. nkelsch:
Holy Hand grenade this is awesome...
Pretenders... AWESOME
G2 Comic Style in the Era of Chubby-leeformers, AWESOME!
All around silly Shenanigas, AWESOME!
And Jazz's dialog, LOL!
Good job, this really is sweet! I would have loved to see action-figure shells for the pretenders.
Edit: And if this is a April Fools Joke... It is a good effort and would have been a cool story.
SKowl:
Ha! I like the idea of alternate-universe Grimlock being an eloquent intellectual. I'm glad they're swapping around more than just the faction symbols and paint schemes.
Nevermore:
Count me in the "please don't be an April Fool's joke" camp. There's no other way to do a comic about "mirrorverse" Transformers that could even be REMOTELY as awesome as this.

M3Gr1ml0ck:
I agree, it really smells like an april's fool joke.
And I never liked Galan's art, in 1992; I would have liked to see more Yaniger, instead.
But now... this preview has a powerful "nostalgia" effect and I just love every single frame.
And, however, this is a big effort just for a fake. Whoever did this, he's a genius!
Brodimus Prime:
While I think the figures this year are meh, and the whole concept of a mirrorverse is contrived, I really like this comic. I think G2 is arguably the best TF comic series, so it's nice to see that style get some dap. Agreed on the point about their personalities being swapped. You really can get a sense for who these characters are in these pages; much more than mere repaints. Points I loved:
--Evil Grimlock as a genius=pure gold
--Evil Jazz's jibba jabba dialogue
--A shrunken Razorclaw (and aparantly other Predacons) as a means to explain the Maximal upgrade
--The art style on the final page, which is a near mirror image to G2 # 4 when the Mayhem Attack Squad descended to Eath (here it is the Mayhem Suppression Squad, genius!)
--Starscream's dialogue reminds me of BW Silverbolt (perhaps that's just me), which made me smile
I wonder who the red RiD Megatron repaint is. Could that possibly be BotCon Megatron? I doubt it since that mold was used for Deathsaurus in 2005, but perhaps. And the one above him looks like Waspinator. Any ideas who that might be?
And yeah, if it IS a joke, it's a cruel one because this art is amazing. I might try picking up the comic, just not the toys.
ssg4life:
the rid megatron is deathsaurus with some modified colors from when he was released as part of the descent into evil set
Crobot91:
Man, the comic is as bad as the exclusive set, lol...

It'd be hilarious if in the future the Club advertised a Classics Thundercracker as an upcoming exclusive... and that AM-color scheme is what we'd get. Valkysas:
This really, really looks like Walky's art.
Sso02V:
I've gotta say, it's good to see the alternate, evil universe treated as campy as the subject itself is. And the G2 style only serves to make me wish I were attending.

It looks FUN.

Trek:
ow! I really enjoyed those three pages.
Good work FP!
xZAOx:
I find the fact that it's an April Fools joke to be a big disappointment Lumpy:
i too am kinda dissappointed, but i think the club will still do it right...would love to see this finished at some point....
and DON being back for botcon is the shit. i totally called this awhile ago and am so bloody stoked. i love don's art, and think this comic will be badass, and i still want the toys, hopefully they arent insanely priced on the aftermarket...
Nevermore:
So basically the joke is "Hey look! Here's by far the BEST comic we've ever done, FUN and loads of humor! - HA HA, fooled ya! The REAL comic will be same old, same 'Serous Business' dull as every year"?
That's like the lamest joke ever.
It's like announcing 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime as an April Fool's joke, and then the real toy looks like Ultimate Battle Prime.
Super_Megatron:
hehe, I was wondering when they were going to say something.
I too enjoyed the G2 theme.

April Fool's jokes should not occur on March 31st. That's just not fair.

Chris McFeely:
MotherFUCK.
BB Shockwave:
Gotta love the cancelled 'Ultra pretenders' behind Starscream on Page 2. (the gorilla and the weird four-armed bug)
Really funny comic, done totally in Geoff Senior's G2 style... Kickback: Quote:

It's like announcing 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime as an April Fool's joke, and then the real toy looks like Ultimate Battle Prime. | Usually April Fool jokes are released, you know, on April Fools. The fact it was "released" or better yet, "leaked" the day before? Cheap. I agree with Nevermore!
nkelsch:
I thought there was room in this world for artist styles other than Pat Lee and IDW. I guess I was wrong.
