With only 25 days until Botcon 2008, more great news is just around the corner and we will keep you posted!

UPDATE: The preview pages have been found on the Botcon website. View them by clicking the preview image. Thanks to Munkeefist for the Nightbeat-esque detective work!

Icespark:
Hello everyone,

The Transformers Collector's Club has announced on their front page that on the third of April they will put up a 3-page preview of the Botcon comic!

They've also stated that another guest will be announced this week as well!

Their announcement is located here:

http://transformersclub.com/

They also have a picture up too, but I'm not certain if it is from the comic or not.
Fosterlager:
My guess is that's Evil Optimus Prime, with the built-in brass knuckles on his hand.
Hiro Prime:
Interesting, the comic panel looks as if it could have been lifted right out of a G2 comic. Not my favorite style of TF art, but it does look good as it is.

It could be, but when I think about it, it could also be Jazz or Riccochet, each of whom also have black painted hands. I'm not sure whether it could be Goldbug or not though, seeing as he has the rocket-launchers next to his hands. Either way, I can't wait to see the preview!
The Spider:
When is the direct market edition of the comic going to be in shops again?
Dinobot Nuva:
OH SHIT ITS THE 80's ALL OVER AGAIN!
DN
Railguard:
It really does look like the 80's again, doen't it?
Munkeefist:
I was poking around the old comic images on their site from last year...I changed a few numbers and bam, look what I found!

Yeah, Hiro totally called it. Nice!

Mayhem Suppression Squad!

Jazz channeling Mr. T?

I love the tone so far.
Victorysabre:
Dudes... is that a Classics Seeker painted like Actionmaster Thundercracker? Score.

*waits for everyone to start calling out for an exclusive of EVERY recolor on that page*
ssg4life:
I, SSG4LIFE, LOVE THIS GRIMLOCK!!!! oh man, i can't wait for this. and interesting way to incorporate all the different exclusives
Peaugh:
Interesting. Do we know who's on art? They've definitely aped the style of Derek Yaniger/Manny Galan during the G2 run quite well.

Also, not to sound like a tool, but do we have to steal the club's thunder like this all the time? They've worked really hard getting all this ready for us, and we don't even let them surprise us with it. Would three days for that preview have killed anyone?

I wouldn't be surprised if the art was indeed done by Galan or Yaniger. Pretty neat.

Too bad the pages are sorta leaked now in a weird way.
Cyberwolf1980:
Wow, the 'Benevolent' Decepticons sure are dorks. Tally-ho?
Whipdash:
Ugh, G2 style? Gag me. :/
RedWolf:
Quintesson Federation?!

The five faced eggheads are good guys?!

Wait does this mean they're the equivalent of the council of ancient/elders in this universe?

I'd love it if it actually WAS one of them on art duties. I'm guessing Galan, if it is on of the two. He was always just a little more curvy and cartoony than Yaniger, while Derek kept his figures a little bulkier and much more squared off.

Once I get it, my Grimlock is going everywhere with me going "Wot!"
Peaugh:
Also, remember when someone mentioned that the main boxset characters happened to be the five figures featured in the old Powermaster Optimus/Classic Pretenders commercial?

Do those figures in the stasis tubes look familiar to anyone else? Even the one in shadow in the background?
Velcrohead:
You'll have to pardon me, as I think reading those preview pages just gave me a stiffy....

Anybody who doesn't want to keep the comic can certainly feel free to send it my way!
Deceptigtar:
ugh no thanks. why did goldbug call SS and his mini Predacons? Thought the were Autobots or good Cons?

Wot The Hell?!?

I guess we're going to get a lot of off the wall cameos in this issue. And the repaints... the kit bashers are gonna have a field day with all of these. (tho the Action Master colored Thundercracker is oddly cool looking as I find myself wishing they'd actually make one out of a Classic Starscream)

I wonder if characters are gonna get as trashed in this book as much as in the G2 days.

I think he was only referring to Razorclaw as a Predacon.
Jarodimus:
Dear FP,

Marry me.

Love,
Jarodimus

P.S.: It's OK. My wife's cool like that.

Jazz was reffering to Razorclaw. Sounds like in this version of the TF universe Perceptor's miniturizer was used as a weapon.

Behind Starscream? What are those?

Yeah, those two.

Unproduced Pretender shells. They were shown at BC'96, as revealed by Monzo a coupla years ago:

BRILLIANT. This is so schmaltzy, but in a good way. LOVE British Bugbite.

And darnit, they just sold me on evil Grimlock. "I, GRIMLOCK, am SCANDALIZED!"
atomicthumbs:
Freakin' fantastic! Anyone know if an extra copy can be purchased at the convention?

There should be a retail version, of course.

And, yes, they MUST make an Action Master-colored Classics Thundercracker. If we said so BEFORE they revealed it in the comics, we certainly say it now!
Peaugh:
Someone pointed it out over on the club boards, but the Universe Seacons are popping out of Astrotrain in the background on Page 3. Well, You can at least see Overbite, Snaptrap, and Seawing.
Tomiku:
I am loving the British Bugbite. I'm totally giving him a British accent in my funnies now. XD[/color]

And Tentakil.

I don't know what I like better, "genius" Grimlock, british Bugbyte, Colonel Deathsaurus, or Action Master Thundercracker.
Feralstorm:
It is a bit of a (slang term for male anatomy) move to swipe FP's thunder like that, but what's done is done, I suppose.

I loved the G2 comics back in the day. This is a pretty good approximation of the style, to the point that I can't tell if it's someone emulating Derek Yaniger's style, or Yaniger himself (IMO Manny Galan was trying to emulate Yaniger as well during his G2 work.). I know exactly what's missing though from the G2 comics, and that's the inking style. I could believe that Mr. Yaniger drew this but I'd bet quite a bit that he didn't ink it, like he did his own work in G2. They tried to include the heavy use of black, but heavier line weights are missing, along with the 'grit', the random sprays of ink dots around explosions and the like, probably done in the nineties by flicking a ink-soaked toothbrush at the page. I do applaud the effort that was done, however.

The writing, as seen so far, for lack of a better word, is CAMPY as hell, which kinda works for me, as it adds an element of fun to the 'standard' mirror universe story, with heroic cliche Starscream and "should have a monocle and handlebar mustache" Grimlock.

I do find it interesting/funny that nearly everyone in the "and what army?" shot is a tweak of a previous Botcon/FP exclusive. If nothing else, it's a good way to say "you probably shouldn't expect toys of these."
Laser_Optimus:
Wow. That's really all I have to say... wow. This is definitely some camp right here... and that's not necessarily bad either.
Ed Bailey:
I didn't care about these exclusives at all -- until I saw this comic.

Semi-G2 goodness? Extremely campy writing? British Bugbit? Now I think I need to cry

Waaaay too much I'm missing out on
Vangelus:
This is such awesome crackheaded wacky.
Lord Of Tetris:
How do we get ahold of this book if we can't make it to Bot Con? My interest in this was very low, but it skyrocketed when I saw the Yaniger-like art. I had a lot of problems with G2's art, but Yaniger's art was very impressive in it. Could that really BE Yaniger? Looks too similar to his art to be an imitation.
Josh:

LSB:
ugh, I feel dirty reading it, it was too campy (if possible).

Art was G2 - so in other words it is terrible if not done properly. (Some of it is nice, other pages not so much). I wouldn't buy this at half price.

Now wouldn't THAT be a little bit epic? - 'specially if the FP web guys knew someone would raid the site files ahead of time.

Doubt that's actually the case, but it'd be damn funny if it was, since it basically would've meant we pranked ourselves. Of course if it actually WAS a joke, everyone would want the G2 camp-fest anyway, because it's just a tiny bit too awesome.
