i thought there was not going to be any third party stuff at botcon..is it display or for sale??? either way cool to see some new stuff.

Man, they keep pushing that TFP Prowl design so much. He better show up in the show soon.

So the ban on 3rd party items was lifted or what? Unless they are sketchy dealers trying to sell whatever 3rd party items they can before hasbro catches them. With these images out I am sure that won't be long.

Pretty sure that $69 is the price tag on that Elite Guard Prowl and the PCC limbs are just there for display.

They did not put a ban on all things non-Transformers. They put a ban on things that are IP infringing. There are plenty of 3rd party products that don't infringe.

Having said that, I did feel the urge to be quick about putting the Shadow Bat figure into my backpack when I bought it.

3rd Party Stuff, someone is testing Hasbro/FP

Shadowbat/Kingbat's sword looks really nice - it's a shame he isn't Ratbat colour though I don't really see the point of making another black one - unless it's just supposed to match Nemesis Prime specifically. They might have been better of just selling the sword.

I wonder if they are using a stronger material for the shaft now as I often her that it cracks at the joints (mine sure did). It was probably a bad idea to design the shaft the way the did it would have been better off as a single piece probably.

And jeez, that Bumblebee just looks awful. I hoped that their articulated figures would be better then their godawful Optimus statue, but that was too much to hope for I guess. They really should just convince ThreeA to do high end figures already, they're pretty much the only ones who can do it justice. Especially after seeing their amazing Portal 2 and Real Steel robots.

I mean, seriously, just look at these, remember that they are fully articulated, and imagine what ThreeA could do with movie Transformers:

I think it'd be interesting to see what would happen if Botcon did try to confiscate all that third-party stuff. I imagine it'd be close to a riot.

It's the dealers own fault. They should have been paying attention and I am sure Hasbro gave them plenty of warnings. I hate the thought of a few good hercs getting destroyed.

Well, good news is the booth wasn't actually selling them from what I could see. They just had that one on display.

I am pretty sure it was the Robotkingdom booth. NOTHING they were selling would be easy to argue as IP infringing. Perhaps some of the stuff they were displaying would though. I am not sure how official the statues were.

I'm sure dealers are only 'displaying' them outwardly.

They're only displaying figures that have no official cannon (WWII vehicles), and that requires you to buy an official HasTak product in order to fully enjoy. Or am I missing something? (edit: oups, didn't notice the PE stuff)

pretty "meh" on the full transforming PCC limbs, its just a new tank and new jet mold each molded in 2 different colors. Kinda harkens back to the flaw of the energon combiners....

They missed the boat a bit on that I'd say. especially if bee is substantially redesigned for the 4th Movie that is going to look horribly dated real quick _ prefer the ROTF Bee's Robot mode anyway.

The Dark of the Moon one looks bit to fussy lookin' They probably should Tampograph his groinal numberplate too. It's all right I suppose but since it's going to be way over $100.00 I'd never buy it. I don't have a need for a giant resin Actionmaster of a character i'm not that excited about.
I'd guess the Optimus one would sell a bit better. and there might be a gap in the market for a substantial ROTF Megatron since Hasbro's attempts were pretty pathetic.


Will the man in the street want these still though - and is there anyone who want Bumblebees that badly still in numbers enough to make this statue viable ?

Someone obviously does not know that Japanese plane had a pusher prop.
It's not 2 mould painted twice it's a Russian Tank, a German Tank, a Japanese Pusher prop fighter and an American Mustang Fighter.

None of which are jet powered. Not to mention they might well work with the Not-Fallen in some way too.

But it's World War II Transforming robots and that is the cool part for me the Powercore Combiner compatibility is just a nice bonus. Though the Mustang shown as an arm look much darker than the Mustang in plane mode to me - which is a little odd - maybe one of them is a painted sample, but it's probably just an over saturated photo on the vehicle modes I think.

Hercules would most definitely land in the IP infringing territory, and I am pretty sure the new "rule" was a blanket policy against IP infringing items.

So Prowl and Barricade are being shown with the TFP crew and not the MMO. Hope they both appear. The writers know we want good cop v bad cop and it really could introduce a great dynamic to the show.

I'm more confused than a Newbie wondering why people buy G1 toys - when I consider what reason people might have to buy Busts and statues.

I wonder if Hasbro's big, bold claim of no Third Party was purely a statement they had to make for legal reasons, along the lines of "Now listen up kids, we don't want any Third Party unofficial business here. *wink* Oh look, our shoes are untied, don't you go bringing any unoffcial stuff in while we tackle this issue. *wink wink*"?

Shadowbat is a giant staff weapon that turns into a bat with a mostly black color scheme. That doesn't sound like any Transformers characters I know of.

The Scouting Force set they had was the "Convention Exclusive" deco. So the only similarity there is that three bots turn into a camera. Everything else is not like any Transformers character (color, engineering, design, name etc).

Herc's similarities to Devastator are a LOT more numerous.
