HEADS UP! An e-mail has been sent out from Transformers Collectors Club giving an update on BotCon 2012! Location and dates for the convention will be announced in the next few days. At the time the location will be announced, you will be able to make your hotel reservations. Convention registration will not start for several weeks after this.
To further speculation about where the location will be, Botcon has said this over Twitter: It will NOT be in 95% of all your backyards. Odds are you will need to drive or fly
Keep checking back on TFW2005 and we’ll keep you udpated on all the upcoming Botcon news!

Location's announced:

As the location's out, this thread's done. Let's go revel in the glory of the Dallas Texas Botcon 2012!

Well in my scenario I wouldn't tell people I had the go ahead already. I'd tell a small lie, say the final confirmation is on its way and will arrive tomorrow or the just say the info is being finalised ie email is being typed. No one has to know. Theres 24 hours for news to get around, give everyone a heads up, news is announced on time as close as possible with the fandom can get, everyones happy.

A logically handled pre-announcement is good, continual vague teasing spam is not. If Botcon were not one of, if not the most expensive transformers conventions it would probably be a lot less.. frustrating to the hopeful attendees. It is one of those kinda delicate boundaries kinda deals, where if you don't cross the line it's fine, but once you trigger the rage it multiplies rapidly.
Edgewise
No, not everyone's happy. Because in that scenario they have everything in place to announce it but are "OMG! Holding back information! If they know announce it right now so I can make my arrangements, don't drag it out longer than you need to! I need to start saving money now and ask for time off at work!"
I think the pre-announcement is really more about giving people a heads up than about building hype, because there are plenty of complaints when some actual news is just dumped and people weren't "ready for it"/"didn't know it was coming".

That Twitter feud was somewhat ridiculous IMO. I can't agree fully with either side of this. I love going to BotCon that's all I know.
Jigga
I don't see anything wrong with a little tease to build a buzz for the announcement. And that's exactly what they accomplish. Now we are all anticipating and people won't be, oh man….. why didn't they give notice of an announcement. You have been told by them via twitter and various board posting. So now people won't complain about the short notice. Now everyone complaining about it take so long to announce it? There's no winning with you guys.
Bogatan
Yup I get wanting to build up buzz just before announcing, but announcing that they dont know exactly when they will be able to announce is not news. They should have got everything confirmed then said we will announce tomorrow or in a few few days. That way they get their build up while knowing exactly when they will announce.
Everyones happy.

Yeah, WOWW… They just confirmed they are one of the most unorganized and underprepared companies in the world today..
Making all that noise about telling people when/where it will be "soon" and "maybe soon", getting people buzzing… all the while THEY dont even know yet! What if this final piece of the puzzle falls through and they dont get this magical green light.. what the hell could they possibly twit then..
What a bunch of tards.. I so seriously hate that they have the license to this. Biggest event for one of the biggest fandoms in the world, and hasbro continually uses funpub..
I dont get it.
In times where a company strings people along, they are usually supplementing with advertising and cramming other stuff down peoples throats in the mean time. How is anyone making money off of telling people they will announce when/where this event takes place soon ? To me, it seems only detremental to the cause.. but Im just a layman, not sayin much
Vexxet
you know how much money there is to be made by stringing along transfans?
Hollywood Hoist
They said that the final piece of the puzzle was in place… now they have to wait for the green light. They shouldn't have made any announcement untill they were given the green light and then tell us that location and date will be made on what ever day to allow enough people to be aware of the info.

Well shit….
Jacob Javits FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mykticon
Yea, but that bet is already lost as JOECON is that exact weekend in New Orleans, Louisiana. So that ain't gonna happen

If I was a gambling man (and I am), June 20th to the 24th at the Pasadena Convention Center.
You saw it here first folks!
Keroshino
as long as he isn't saying "gimme 20 Dollars"
Wyvern
Well yeah… Can't deny that the tactic works. Sucks but here I am checking in multiple times a day. DAMN YOU FUNPUB!! lol.
Lumpy
that's the trend of every news outlet for years… look at the commercials that air about local news… it's all "hey, something weird/crazy/scary/exciting is going on, check us out at 10pm to find out what" so the twitter announcements of new comics arent a big deal, to me.
and, if nothing else, it's got people buzzing about Botcon all week…
xZAOx
YOU gave him a dolla!
Karhukjnsi
Let me tell the damn story now! It said "treefiddy" And so I realized I that it wasn't no BotCon, it was that god-damn Loch Ness monster again trying to trick me into giving him treefiddy by dressing up like a BotCon. Don't that just beat all?!
ronin0510
Tree-fiddy, you dat damn lockness monsta!?
Matty
What's the general consensus: do we want FunPub to have one announcement on Twitter saying "Okay, Botcon is at [insert city] on these [insert dates]! Go book your room at [insert hotel]!"
As far as the timing of the announcement, I don't know how FunPub could improve that.
