BotCon 2011 Location Revealed

Great news!! It makes things a lot easier for those of us who want to travel from Australia
I might be going to my first Botcon next year!! Hooray!

Man BotCon '07 was so much fun, I was hoping for them to return back to RI for RoTF, and then hoping again for TF3. Now there won't be a TF4 as far as I'm concerned.

Wow, I am shocked. Pasadena again? I may be in CA, but I still think that's unfair to the other fans. I feel so spoiled now. Looks like I can start making plans (and saving money) for BotCon 2011.

Wonderful! Another BotCon I get to miss out on! I am stoked that Hasbro would rather have it THREE THOUSAND MILES AWAY from their HQ! That's AWESOME! Philadelphia and New York are right here, but they choose California - Again. Spfft... for those of you who are going, by all means enjoy it. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll choose somewhere on the East Coast in 2012.

Sure it's on the opposite side of the country from me, but I think I'll try to make this my first attended Botcon. Should be a blast with all the new movie stuff going on.

Like I mentioned before, I am shocked. Sure, it makes some sense with TF3, but still. I thought we were due for a midwest BotCon. I feel for those in the midwest and east coast. I used to live in South Dakota, so I am accustomed to being shafted when it comes to BotCon locations.

why feel for the east coast? they always get botcon, the only ones getting the shaft is the middle of the country, it is always east or west coast that gets botcon.....it is bullshit, hell they got botcon THIS TIME, i swear, i appreciate them telling us now so i am going to save and if i get lucky i can get money to go (doubt it though), but this is basically saying "f you fans in the middle of the country, you get jack shit"

Hasbro, I am disappoint. Really, would it kill you to come to Philadelphia, Atlantic City, or ANYWHERE ELSE that I wouldn't have to get on a plane to go to?!?!?! Somewhere within driving distance, that's all I ask.

Hell yeah. I can drive down for this one again... woo hoo... Makes sense since it is the third movie. Seems like Hasbro is ponying up some money for the cons as part of the promotion for their brand. The dinner party tonight was quite nice. Don't know how previous ones has been, but this one was sit down dinner with a very nice presentation for the hall of fame induction. Next year would be my third botcon...good times.

Yet again Botcon failsin their choice of location. It's called "Michigan" Botconners. You com here, and you willmakemoremoney than you have in every year youve had a Botcon combined.

Since they have announced the Location and dates this early, I might just finally have a chance to go to Botcon.

i say for the next two years at least that east and west coast botcons get banned, let someone else get a chance, i ain't saying a texas botcon, but how bout somewhere in the middle of the country where everyone has an equal chance to get to

this makes me regret moving from there.who knows maybe i'll go anyway its only a 5hr drive and maybe $1000 with gas money, hotel, and if im gonna buy anything there.

Dang it! I was set to go this year and couldn't because of summer priorities. I was so hoping to make it next year since my summer is free, and now come to find out it's 3000 miles away again. I was fortunate to go to BotCon 04 in Pasadena and loved the convention center, so those that get to go will enjoy it. But I'm pretty bummed I won't get to go and enjoy the festivities for TF 3.

...yeah I seriously doubt that. The walk in lines for Botcon 09 were hundreds and hundreds of people long... on Sunday afternoon. The lines on Saturday were just as long if not longer. No other botcon I have been to has had that many walk ins and I've been to everyone since 2004 (except this year).

2011 is the last movie year (for a while) and I would seriously speculate that there's going to be another paramount party or something of that caliber.

As for a convention location Pasadena is an AWESOME spot. Lots of hotels in the area, tons of local spots to eat and shop at, most with very reasonable prices. Not to mention there is a post office about 3 blocks away, so you can tell the over priced packing service in the dealer's room to go screw... or ship out botcon exclusives sold on Ebay right from the convention. The only downside is the geographic location, which will mean higher air fare. For me the pros far out way the cons.

and BTW I live in New England.

Sure the flight may cost a bit more (start saving your frequent flyer points), but arn't a majority of people going to have to fly in no matter where it is, unless it is within a couple states of your home? Sure Cali is only a couple states away for me, but I sure as hell am not driving that far to go to a convention. May as well put it somewhere like Florida or Cali where there is something to do, and chances are weather is going to be nice. I know I want to go to a place with cool stuff in addition to the convention, and Im sure Fanpub wants to be in a place where there will be a significant about of walk-ups as well. I could see Texas in the near future, but (as much as I like midwest ladies and their accents), I don't see them going way off the map for a convention with the popularity of the brand right now.

This is really lame. Like many say, that's where it was last year. I at least hope it's in a different hotel.

Air fare and traveling expenses aren't necessarily going to be cheaper just because the convention is in the middle of the country.

When they had a con in Cincinnati, it was more expensive to fly there then it was to fly to Pasadena, Lexington or Dallas.

It also depends on what convention centers will agree to having the convention. My wife talked to Brian last year about having Botcon in South eastern Virginia. Brian stated that he tried talking to several convention centers in the area, but no one would talk to him.

Why would they, the Sheraton is attached to the convention center and it is a nice hotel.

Am I disappointed that it's not in driving distance? Yes. Is there any point in complaining about it? No. I've talked to Brian about this before. Unless Hasbro dictates the location (ie, RI, CA), they send out "quotes" to many locations. They then weigh who is willing to do the prices they need and the needs for the convention. He told me they don't seek out any particular area over another. I'm sure if Brian had his way, they'd all be in Tx. It would sure make it easier on them.

I'm sure Hasbro and Paramount had a lot to do with the location. I'm sure it will be a great Botcon. I"m saddened that I can't go.

I went to 2 of the 3 BotCons that were held in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I always thought that was a good choice. Long drive for me from Virginia, but it was about as close to Middle America as you could get. I know BotCon was in St. Paul, Minnesota one year. Other than those locales, it's pretty much been the east coast and southern Cal.

I agree, I think the fact that it's a movie year has everything to do with why it's in Pasadena again. The fact that they're announcing it this early probably means they are planning for a pretty big celebration.
