BotCon 2010 Rumor - Classics Prowl Repainted as G2 Rapido

Checking out Twitter this morning I saw this by the very reliable S250! https://twitter.com/s250/status/10724447934
In it he says: Ｃlassics Prowl repaint as G2 Rapido....BotCon. I'm pretty excited by the news! This will be my first Botcon and some if the toys I remember were my weirdo G2 toys! Mods close this if it is a duplicate.

Note that S250 has already responded to a follow-up question stating that it's only a rumor to him as well. So, at this time it's still a second-hand rumor.

G2 is always a win, but I guess I'll have to commission Diaclone-repaint classics from one of our Radicons.

Interesting. This G2 theme has me really interested in the botcon set. This will be my first year too.

Huh. I can see this working very, very well as a straight repaint since Rapido has a bit of the headcrest that Prowl has.

Nah. It'll be Classics Megatron in green with huge purple camo patterns.

If these rumors hold any truth, Botcon or otherwise, I'll be so happy that I'll slap Foster.

I thought I read something about the G2 possibility for Botcon figures a few months back. Anyone else remember reading something similar to this?

That's been the forerunner of rumors for a good while now. This is different in that it seems to focus on a particular figure concept.

Generation 2 as our theme for this year? Eh, I was kind of hoping for Machine Wars. But whatever, still a rumor for now, taking this with a grain of salt.

I was hoping for a Hotrod minus spoiler as Rapido and the Prowl/Silverstreak/etc mode as Windbreaker and/or Skram.

When the first hint at what the Botcon set might be came, people assumed G2, and figured it'd be stuff like Black Sideswipe... but man oh man, if it's actual original characters from G2, I will love it so so much

im surprised we have not seen anything leaked yet from second hand distributors. you know we will before the botcon peeps say anything.

Botcon exclusives? As far as I'm concerned, Botcon registration is a rumor right now, lol.

I know absolutely nothing about G2, other than the blue Grimlock and green Slag figures, so this will all be new to me.

Actually, although we often do see figures before FP shows them to us, I don't know that we often see figures before we're even given the official theme and names of the figures in the box set....

Rumor or not, anything in G2 colors goes on the Blacklight Shelf. Takara's X-Dimension doesn't hold a candle to Hasbro's G2 figures garish colors.

A G2 BotCon set might just induce very girly squealing on my part.

Here's hoping for G2 Ramjet, and not for the added BotCon Seeker angst it'll cause. Well, not just for that.

If we get G2, I demand at least 1 G1 repaint (black Sideswipe, blue Grimlock, weird purply Ramjet). I totally missed the whole G2 period, and I know nothing about it.

That being said, I'm sure I'd learn to love it once I had it in my hands.

i'm not excited about this possible repint but I'm excited about the forth coming info on Botcon. I'm still hoping for Ultra Magnus, Rodimus, Arcee & Springer because its 2010. I really want a Six Shot but I'm not sure want mold we would use.

Just looked through the TFW Resources for G2... There was a G1-esque Jazz in G2. Guess there's still hope for a Classic's Jazz.

Alright, Botcon has been heavily hinted as a G2 theme this year. If that is the case I think they can make a pretty darn good set of toys for us. My Hopes:

Classics Galvatron as G2 'Big Stick' Megatron or unreleased Hero Megs colors
Classics Sideswipe as Skram
CLassics Sideswipe as G2 Botcon Breakdown (why not they made an AM)

Classics SS as either AFterburner, Windrazor, or Eagle Eye
Classics Onslaught as Clench
Classics Onslaught as G2 Onslaught
Classics Prowl as Leadfoot
Classics Hound as G2 Swindle......'ouch my eyes'

Based on the hint we were given a few months back of "A Generation lost" the Botcon set being G2 sounds very plausible now. Granted I understand this is just a rumor and a second hand rumor at that. But now this second hand rumor begs the question of "What other molds, or even specifically Classics molds (that have not been re-used to death), can make for other G2 original characters? I'm not sure I can even answer my own question since I'm not an expert on G2, just vaguely familar with it. If the set is a G2 Classics character set that would be very interesting considering the mass retail release of Classics Skyjack . . . I mean Universe Skyfall. Let the speculation begin.

See, what I'm thinking here is that we're NOT looking at a G2 theme, but rather, a theme based around the European 1993 "G1.5" transitional period that gave us Rapido and his fellow Axelerators, the Skyscorchers, Pyro and Clench, the color-changers and the Lightformers and Trakkons (like Ironfist, who - hey! - is also in this year's club comic!), only a small number of whom made the jump to the US G2 line. This seems to fit best with the whole "lost generation" theme... yeah, this is my bet, all right.

Rapido was awesome, but I kinda feel like Skram would be a better fit for that particular mold. Either way, I'd love to see this stuff happen.

I thought Hero Megs was released, unless you're talking about another color scheme that was planned for the mold? If I'm wrong, then well, sorry to bother.

On topic, well, if this is most likely the theme, I would hope for a Sideswipe repaint into his G2 color scheme since G2 Sideswipe was my first transformer.

I could get on board with a Pyro and/or Clench. And hey, Fun Pub is doing a set for the GI Joe Convention based off of European figures, maybe they are thinking the same for BotCon?

yeah there was a second Hero Megs, it was more of a camo-green color scheme with black tiger strips. I am sure GB Blackrock will have a link for us in a few mins , he is quick!

Ohhhh man that would be cool. I really hope it's a G2 set! If this is true and G2 Ramjet, Sideswipe and Starscream are included I will definitely drop the cash for the box set.

Gonna link to the pics from Whitemochas digibash thread. Pyro, Clench, Jhiaxus, Skram... WM did a great job here. so I hope FP uses a couple of these ideas. They're just to good not to!

Agreed, and I prefer Skram's deco as well. Skram as attendee exclusive?
