Key points:
2011 Freebie:
Sideburn – blue recolor of Classics Rodimus in Robots in Disguise Sideburn colors
2011 Club Exclusives:
Generation 2 Ramjet – recolor of Classics Ramjet based on Generation 2 Ramjet
Animated Transtech Cheetor – remold of Animated Blurr with a new head. Not necessarily an Animated universe character
– Action Master Thundercracker from the Classics Seeker mold was planned alongside G2 Ramjet for this years set, but Hasbro told them no based on the fact the molds were in use. Action Master Thundercracker would have been the free attendee figure. Ramjet as noted above will be a Club Exclusive, Thundercracker probably will not happen. Ramjet will probably be Fun Publication’s final use of the Classics Seekers.
– No plans to do anything involving the Animated universe.
– Nexus Prime is now owned by Hasbro so he will probably not turn up in the Club Comics again; Hasbro may have their own plans for him, nothing confirmed.
–THERE WILL BE A LIMITED RUN OF 300 MORE PUNCH COUNTERPUNCH EXCLUSIVES. LIMITED TO 1 PER CUSTOMER, IF YOU ORDERED ONE PREVIOUSLY YOU CANNOT ORDER ANOTHER.

Props for the eventual G2 Ramjet, loved the original as a kid so that would be a definite pickup for me. Same with a second run of P/CP as that's one of the few upcoming figures I'm also looking forward too.

Yes I am, took me a while to find it but I'll certainly add my two cents to it, thanks
Very true, thats certainly a possibility, it'd be nice if fan suggestions were actually taken into consideration by the club though. I'm curious as to the process of how that goes.

The idea that Dion and the next two freebies would, in some way, be connected actually came up at BotCon 2009, well before Dion was actually revealed.
I haven't heard anything to confirm or deny that the "connection" is still in the plan. It's worth asking Pete.

If you're a club member, there's a thread entitled "Action Master Thundercracker" that you can leave a comment in. If you're not, and this kind of thing would make the difference toward your becoming a member, send a polite e-mail to the club (they have contact information on their page) and tell them so.
Obviously, this is a question for Pete or someone in the know to answer. But at a guess, I'm thinking they need to start the planning process so early, and it takes so long to get final confirmations from Hasbro, that to start the entire theme from scratch may well have been seen as too difficult to manage. It's one thing to go to "Plan B" for a toy or two, but for the entire theme? That's another question.

nevermind, found waht i was looking for.

I apologize for drudging up what is probably a non-issue.
Last year when Dion was revealed, wasn't there some mention by the club that Dion and the two club freebies to follow would all be related somehow or share a common theme? Is this still a thing? Was there any mention of what Dion and Sideburn have to do with each other?
unicron’s blues
I'm all for that idea. I don't have twitter though
Makes me wonder, if they couldn't get approval this year for that mold, why didn't they wait a year to do the G2 redux set, I mean this year was a bit of a hodge podge at best, and its not like it was some special anniversary or something, just seems like it would have made more sense to do a diffrent theme this year and hold off until next years. I guess they might have something special for next years set already though, who knows. I do know I want to see a Sunstorm, Runamuck and Runabout at some point, could care less about Cheetor or Sideburn.

If you join the club now, you'll get Sideburn (the announced incentive figure for 2011). That will be the case for all members who join after March 16, 2010, but before March 16, 2011 (give or take on the 2011 date).
To get Dion, you would have had to have joined before March 16, 2010. So you needn't worry about getting that figure (which you already say you have no interest in).

question
Ive never been a TFCC member but i like the idea of a classics G2 ramjet and the redone classics rodimus so thinking about joining for them.
so if i joined the club now i would get them next year or how exactly does it work? doesnt seem to explain or i just dont understand how it works exactly. I want to make sure i get it right. i have no interest in dion.
thanks for the help.

I couldn't disagree more. I think AMTC would "hold his own" better than G2 Ramjet.
That said, why choose? Let's push FP to make a 2-pack of Ramjet AND AMTC!
videriant
^Talked to Pete.
Hasbro gave them the choice of both AMTC or G2RJ, just not this year. They felt that Thundercracker would have been great as a part of the boxset but wouldn't be able to hold his own as a solo figure so that's why they chose Ramjet. Gotta agree with them.
We now know Thunderwing's getting a Hasbro release so there's that. . .

Here's the most important thing you need to know: in 1991 (or late 1990), The UK/Euro. market got a few great new Action Master molds (Bombshell, Tracks, Sideswipe) alongside repaints of the 1990 AMs so garish, the Crown Jewels probably de-atomized at the sight of them. (Poor Star of India!) The Ravens probably left the Tower in disgust! AM Thundercracker is the most infamous of these. Wheeljack's ill-advised conversion into Slicer and Axer's changeover into Circuit are also among this number.
AM Thundercracker sounded great when I first heard about him from a friend. Then I saw the sucker. It's like Rainbow Raider and the Flamingo (DC Comics villains) got together and had a 3.75-4" metal baby! Classics "AM" T'Cracker would have been the first exclusive to go for $25 on the secondary market.
If I'm going to spend $100 on a con/club exclusive, make something that has more … "more than just me" appeal. (As much as I'd like to see it, Big Daddy/Downshift in General Lee colors probably won't make it to BotCon, nor will Railspike in Southern Railway (U.S.) green. Rapid Run in Union Pacific gray and UP Armour Yellow might. I'm just sayin'.) Sharkticon (who already was in Sky-Byte's colors) as Sky-Byte was so in demand that I'm still fighting people on eBay. Same goes for the Sharkticons. I liked the idea of Cindersaur, but never cared for his translucent UK colors, which is why they packed him with Rapido (who U.S. G2 fans might want). If you want to see Trans-fans physically fight one another, take my advice and make a Repainted retooling of Ramjet as Thunderwing. I know the perfect color scheme to use (so they're guaranteed to swap them around), and I say retooling because Thunderwing would use Starscream/Acid Storm's longer nosecone and head. Give him a gray version of Energon Insecticon's 4-barreled gatling gun and he's perfect. When you're done, make 1,000 or fewer and it's clobberin' time!
Cybertronian
Transtech Cheetor based on animated Blurr? For my needs, perfect. I always wanted to do a "Cybertronian mode" of a fanfic/custom Maximal I thought up using that mold. Since the Maximal version comes from Fox Kids Transmetal Cheetor, all it needs is the right head. The finished custom would likely have a Santa Fe "Super Chief" color scheme for its car mode racing stripes.

I laughed out loud when I read that they'd based the whole G2 Redux theme around AM Thundercracker and then they weren't actually able to MAKE AM Thundercracker. Poor FunPub.
I'll be a dissenting voice and say I'm not overjoyed at our 2011 freebie. They've already used the Classics Rodimus mold. Clearly this was going to happen based on their asking if we would mind if they reused molds, but… I just hope this isn't a slippery slope that leads to them reusing the 30 or so "best molds" over and over. I'm hoping against hope that he at least gets a head remold.
Excited to hear about Transtech Cheetor from Animated Blurr just because I'd had the same thought myself. I'd been nursing the hope that we might see a Transtech Botcon set from Animated molds in the future. I think the Bulkhead mold would make a pretty good Optimus Prime…
Rather sorry to hear about Hasbro's appropriation of Nexus Prime. He was kinda like FunPub's point-of-view character. What happens to Aquarius? A little confused about this, too: the club comic is full of characters owned by Hasbro. Why is Nexus Prime different?
Very glad to hear there'll be more Punch/Counterpunch. Not missing him this time. As for G2 Ramjet… I might buy him… if he's cheap. Again, it's a case of them re-using molds, and if I owned the Games of Deception set, I feel like there's no way I'd pay that kind of money to buy the same mold over again.
Scaleface
I'd buy a 2 pack of G2 Ramjet and AM Thundercracker.
BTW – This is the black/purple G2 Ramjet right? Or the unreleased Desert cammo version right? Not that I would hate that either.

Same issue as the movie toy. Probably too not worth their time getting permission from Cartoon Network.
Autovolt 127
Cool were getting Sideburn, G2 Ramjet and transtech Cheetor.
But i wonder why they won't go into animated at all. Most are great figures that have yet to get a repaint. I hope they someday do a Unicron trilogy inspired Botcon set with Animated.
videriant
Some of what is being said makes zero sense. If the club originally wanted to build an entire theme around AMTC with G2RJ as part of the set and were denied both why would they choose G2RJ later if Hasbro gave them the chance to do both. I would like more information but it sounds more like Hasbro only gave them the one seeker choice.
Nerdicon
My divorce means I can join the club now. Good to know It'll be well worth it.

A G2 Classics Ramjet ay? Hmmmmm… Not a bad idea. Not a bad idea at all…
