Botcon 2009 Convention Toys Teaser Information 180px-Botcon08logo
Posting on the Transformers Collectors Club forums, Brain Savage has released a few small hints about what the Botcon 2009 Exclusive toy set might contain:

"For one young Autobot..." is all we have revealed so far. While we tend to guard the convention sets and souvenirs closely, I want to let you know that we are very excited about what we have waiting in the wings!

The set we have planned features a select team of Autobots never before featured in G1 in this way. The timeline we are spotlighting is new, yet very familiar...

Let the games begin!

From Pete on the club boards:

Far be it from me to wreck your all's ideas. I just know that this year's set is going to rule!

Now THATS the type of obvious teaser hints I like . Sounds like my first guess was right hehe.
General Tekno:
Interesting. I'm VERY intrigued at what they're planning.

EDIT: I note it says "Let the games begin!" Could this be Transformers Olympics, or a Games of Decepticon continuation or something?
xZAOx:
I'm thinking it has to be the Wreckers, possibly in SG or Animated (since both of those are newer timelines, but both familiar in different ways)
General Tekno:
Except, it's a NEW timeline.
mineraljane:
Hm, interesting.

Though "never before featured in G1" has me very unexcited.

EDIT: Ah, I see that they've clarified the original statement regarding G1 with "in this way" at the end. That makes it completely different. Prior to that, it sounded as if these wouldn't be G1 characters at all which would have certainly limited things with the 25th anniversary this year.
Kickback:
"Let the games begin!" is probably Brian just saying "let the rumor mill start!". We'll see.

I read that as "recently created", instead of "never existed before". But now that you point it out, that seems more like what he meant.
SKowl:
I bet it's the cast of TF:Animated, only done in Non-Animated molds. Like they could repaint Cybertron Ransack in Prowl's colours and give him a new head...
Ravenxl7:
Interesting, very interesting. I have absolutely no idea what that means yet. Maybe something Movie related? (like the story and characters, not the toy molds).

Now I'm thinking I was wrong - they were featured in the Marvel G1 comics, but when I originally read it I was thinking cartoon. If it's a team that was never in G1 cartoon or comics, then I have no idea hehe.
General Tekno:
The Elite Guard?

Cybertron Defense Team?

Ultracons?
Anti Spark:
Animated with new heads.

I was hoping for Animated Beast Wars.
Fosterlager:
Transforming versions of Action Master characters?

I'm kidding, by the way. They'll use popular characters people actually know but in a new context, as usual.
aprim:
I really hope its animated OR movie related so I can skip botcon this year all together!

I think you may be right... either that or its TFA molds repainted into characters from another series (none of them namesakes og G1 guys)... Maybe BW characters??? The Rdicons have already started exploring that ...

Prime = Primal
Grimlock = Dinobot
Bulkhead = Rhinox
Bumblebee = Cheetor
Prowl = Rattrap

Easterling Capt:

Oh well then it's the Wreckers, starring Universe Onslaught as Roadbuster and pals. Maybe they are the Ark crew in an alt timeline or summat.

This reads to me G1 characters done before the famous incarnations, perhaps cybertronian versions (great war). As far as I know it's not a timeline that has been done, but yet it's familiar to a lot of us.

Pete on the TFCC boards have said it won't be movie molds nor the new Universe molds.
0R10N P4X:
I can already tell you the set will include a redeco of Cybertron Thunderblast.
General Tekno:
I wonder what they are. My money is now on the Wreckers, but I could be wrong.

What makes you so sure?
Draven:
Definitely sounds like The Wreckers to me. Which would be DAMN cool
However....

Shattered Glass Wreckers would be F***ING cool...

If that's so, that's a shame. That mold is horrible. I'm guessing it'd be for the Elita One character.

Ya know, we had that rumor not long ago (although I can't find the post anymore, and don't even remember which board it was) that said this set would wrap up some "loose ends" from previous sets. Elita One from Thunderblast would definitely fit in with that.
General Tekno:
Maybe it's a version of the Wreckers that travels the multiverse.

And the plot revolves around patching up that Gobots universe impending doom.
Torque:
where and when is BotCon anyways?
ponn01:
I'm going with the gobot theory.

or Rock Lords. Rockimus Prime. Oh wait, hell yea, it will be like JEM. They are a rock band and can be playing off how cool Guitar Hero is now and there are a band of rockin' Autobots who have a hit song called "The Touch"

I want to say thank you so much to both you and Yizhi for this! I've been wanting to see the 2007 set completed for so long. I was very disapointed when Elita One was never made, and ever since I've been hoping to finish the set! This news has really made my day! This figure will be a definate purchase for me!

Also, do you know if this will be normal, or part of Shattered Glass? Because I still want to this to be a standard, normal Autobot version of the character.

As for the information on the box-set, I'll be looking forward to seeing what it is. If it indeed wraps up the loose ends of the others sets, maybe the other exclusives will be a mix and match from the different year sets? I'd like to see the Pre-Beast Wars Depth Charge I keep suggesting get made, or maybe even a few of the older canceled designs like Botcon Defensor!

Let me place my bet here ...hehehe... sounds like the set will be some cybertron mode of some Autobots ?
Fosterlager:
I'm not exactly clamoring for more Shattered Glass stuff. Shave the goatees please.
Dinotron:
my bets are a shattered glass continuation! i betting on the box set being mainly decepticons, and add on being the autobots. another thing that make me think is the lightening on the botcon website, we saw it last year. maybe, just maybe. plus i did hear a rumour that this set would bump last years up in value. who knows.
General Tekno:
HOLY COW... wait a minute.

Suppose they're all former GOBOTS???

Then I'd be buying the hell out of it ;-)

Although I don't know if what was once a competing brand makes a great 25th anniversary set.

I'd love that. Perhaps, its the femmebots? Firestar, Moonracer, Elita, etc?

That'd be cool.
protostar8:
So this will be another over priced exclusive set that sounds good but will limit what Hasbro can do for the large majority of fans...great...

I just hope they don't do anything with Classics figures b/c it will ruin things for me (being a normal fan who doesn't/can't pay $100 per figure). They already screwed the larger fan base by making Thundercracker, so I'm hoping they pick a whole bunch of stuff from Cybertron or stuff like that.

Well, it would bring club fiction full circle. There's already several Gobots who exist in the Transtech universe, including Bugbite and Crasher.
Destron23:
It's probably an alternate time line in animated with G1 characters done in the animated style. I hope not. I don't have the money to go to Botcon, and I want to collect as many animated toys as I can. sigh.

I wonder who the focused autobot will be?
Icespark:
I woundn't mind a few Gobots from the text stories we got, like Treads for example, but for the 25th anniversary I'd rather see them finish figures that could be considered missing. I like the idea of them wrapping up the loose ends from before. While I did wind up liking Shattered Glass, I'd prefer to see normal universe Autobots and Decepticons this year.
Joe Moore:
I doubt it will be shattered glass again. You can only go to that well once. Once it's done, it's done and you move on to something completely different.

I'm holding onto this idea until proven wrong... there are lots of great candidates from current molds (blue Bluestreak, black Ironhide, red Mirage, police Sunstreaker, etc...).

This is the only thing I can think of that would really pay a unique tribute to the 25th Ann. "Shattered Glass Part II" seems a bit boring by comparison.

Pete has apparently confirmed that there will be no new Universe or movie molds used.
UTK007:
Young Optimus Prime and his first group of G1 allies and troops at the beginning of his role in the great war? Oh.... with Elita-1 by his side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

now that is something i could get behind ~ police streaker/"blue" bluestreak/etc... only downside is ending up with 4 new Lambo characters ~ i guess Tigertracks is such a cake custom they'd skip it...
