Auto Assembly 2013 Customisation Class "Bad Cop" Prime Barricade Revealed

Posted on 06-03-2013 at 08:40 AM by Sol Fury under Conventions
Auto-Assembly-2013-Kitbash-Add-On-Bad-Cop
Auto Assembly have today revealed their convention exclusive customisation kit. This year's exclusive customisation class set is "Bad Cop" and is being brought to fans in association with Keiths Fantasy Club and Sensible Collectibles. "Bad Cop" converts a First Edition Transformers Prime Vehicon into a Transformers Prime Barricade, and includes a new head, lightbar and pre-cut sticker sheet.

The kit will be available in two different forms. The Gold Pack contains the base figure (a FE TF Prime Vehicon figure, unreleased in the UK), the exclusive head and light bar, and a pre-cut sticker set. These are strictly limited to 50 sets and are 30 each. The Silver Pack contains the exclusive head, and uncut sticker set. These have a production run of 100 sets and are 15 each.

The Gold Packs are available to convention attendees only, limited to one per person, but the Silver Packs will be available as part of the Non-Attendee Pack which will be unveiled in the next 24 hours! Silver packs will be limited to a maximum of two per person. Both the Gold and Silver Packs will be available to pre-order through the Auto Assembly website from tomorrow, along with the existing convention exclusive T-shirts and the exclusive Mech Ideas Robot Manuel X.

No particular skill set is needed in order to complete your figure, as they are designed for novice customisers, however a kitbash panel will be held to demonstrate how to convert the your First Edition Vehicon using this set!

Auto Assembly 2013 is Europe's largest EVER Transformers convention and is taking place over the weekend of 9th - 11th August 2013 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. To book your tickets or find out more including details of all the dealers attending, all of the guests and a full schedule for the weekend, visit the Auto Assembly homepage!

Haha awesome, me want! That's a great looking take on a Prime Barricade, love the head!
Deceptigtar
holy shit i need that.

if i live in the US anyone know if i can do a non-attendee for this?
Simes
While I'm still working like crazy on the details right now (and working out shipping is a logistical nightmare!), the initial Non-Attendee allocation is likely to be:-

25 FULL Non-Attendee Packs which will include the Bad Cop add-on kit and the Robot Manuel X exclusive toy
25 Non-Attendee Packs which will contain the Robot Manuel X exclusive toy

Both versions of the Pack will also contain a range of other items PLUS the convention magazine which will be autographed by all our guests including Dan Gilvezan, Steve Blum and Neil Kaplan as well as all our comic guests.

Robot Manuel X is a fully boxed toy and because of that, we will probably have to ship the pack in two separate mailings to reduce shipping costs. Otherwise, the cheapest international courier we have seen so far is coming in at around 70 and that's not counting our costs for packing materials!

Frustratingly, a lot of international shipping once you go above a certain size is charge by dimensions rather than weight so because the toy is of a higher standard and professionally packaged and boxed, it means that the shipping rates rise considerably!

We should have all this sorted by tomorrow though and I'll have the order page programmed and ready to go live. However, even if I am only able to get the convention pre-orders ready, the quantities for the Non-Attendee Packs have been reserved so these quantities are guaranteed.

That's great! If some day down the road you make just the stickers available, that would be awesome.

ALMOST awesome!

But WHY did they do it for that aweful first edition mold?! ._. could've been great stuff (if they'd used the RID mold)...
Vampyr
very cool!

if someone can grab me a silver set i'll be thanksfull, there is little chance that will happens sadly, only 100 sets produced...

The Fe, like every other Fe, is vastly superior. The "bad cop" look would look like crap on the prid mold...the prid is skinny..and very plain. The Fe mold looks like a brawler ready to take an autobots face off, and the car mode smashes the prid..

When it comes to vehicons..I have both, but I prefer the Fe waaaaaay more. This set looks awesome.
videriant
I would not call the FE version vastly superior but in terms of brawn it definitely does a better job of that then the PRID.
GunplaGamer
i would love to get one of these kits!
Demonss
It's awesome.. But how is this a customizing class?

It's slapping some stickers and a few parts ontop.. Admittedly it's a custom because of such add ons.. but does anyone REALLY need a class for that?
dilectus
I need some Decepticops, but I don't have that edition of Vehicon.

The light bar would need to have been in two pieces on the PRiD version and then the legs would not have been able to fold up properly. That's my guess as to why they went with the FE mold. I must say that the FE version has a way better alt mode, but I prefer the PRiD version for Bot mode.

When I look at this guy, I can't help but sing "Bad boys, bad boys. Whatchoo gonna do? Whatchoo gonna do when they come for you?"

If you saw the video on our Youtube Channel from Auto Assembly 2012 it will give you an idea of what was involved. It's a complete step-by-step guide of what's involved with customising toys from dismantling, paint stripping, repainting, tools that you need... pretty much everything that you need to know.

Love that head sculpt! <3

But so limited...
Digilaut
Wow, I just took another look at the Prime Barricade artwork...nice idea..the FE Vehicon mold is already really close to what he should look like! Smart!

I wouldn't call the FE mold 'vastly superior'. In quality and size, yes, but when it comes to depicting the onscreen character, the RID mold actually makes for a better and more accurate Vehicon - the skinny look is accurate, and the body proportions are way off on the FE mold.

But for Barricade? You are right - Perfect.

We chose the FE mold purely to differentiate the Vehicon general from the rest of his PRID troops.

2012 yes..
This is a sticker sheet and a new head and a lightbar..
A third party upgrade kit..

I do not disagree 2012 is a customizing class.. This is not though.. The Kit comes from KFC fully painted.. Vehicon themselves do not require any paint stripping or painting since the sticker goes on the doors and front of the car..

I'm failing to see the "customizing" class this offers. Heck you seem to say it right here..

I was impressed with your 2012 offering as it was truly a customizing class.
Unless I'm missing what you plan to do with 2013 and somehow teach people all the different things customizers do while they walk away with their FE vehicon and an upgrade kit they can attach to it.
It was always my understanding you run the class and the people in the class are doing the same things to learn by doing.

Does Keith FC do Gundam kits too or is he just trolling Transfans with that logo ?

Waiting patiently for a silver kit... Did I read it right that is doesn't come with the lightbar? Not like it would be a huge deal, since he'd be in permanent bot mode, but it would be nice to have...

That thing looks awesome. I'm obviously not going to Auto Assembly, but I may have to track one down.

Run to walmart and look for the smaller model police cars and get your own.. Not hard to do or expensive.

But a waste of time.

This comes with a lightbar, as mentioned in the blurb and shown in the picture.

That's excellent if it does I didn't read the blurb, and was just offering a solution based on improper info.

Whoa whoa whoa! They must have been reading my mind when they made this kit. XD Guess they had the similar idea of converting FE Vehicon (I still favor this mold over the RiD version), like when I made my own TF Prime Barricade kitbash (also see my sig picture, heh):

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radico...barricade.html

I'd love to get two of the Silver sets so I can upgrade my current Barry kitbash with the lightbar and stickers, and use the other set to fully customize a spare FE Vehicon I have laying around to keep in alt mode together.

Looks great (the new head sculpt is pretty good though I still prefer mine since HFTD Hailstorm's face looks more like Bayverse Barry's). Sadly, at only 100 sets, chances are slim to none that I'll get even one let alone two. Ah well. Maybe we can petition Reprolabels to make a similar police markings sticker sheet if we clamor loudly enough for it.

Agreed. I have like 10 of the RiD molds and two of the FEs. The RiD are more screen accurate and make for the normal show cannon fodder but the cheap plastic kinda puts me off to them somewhat. The FE, despite being inaccurate, limited articulation, and the infamous back kibble, I just like for looking more sinister (both in bot and alt modes), the nice heft of the figure, and the higher quality plastic. Of the two FEs I have, one is the afore mentioned Barricade kitbash and the other is my Vehicon commander.

Im not a Prid vehicon hater...I love that one, but The difference between the 2 are like comparing a gravity bot to an MP.

This "bad cop" kit is gunna be pretty prized...I think when some of these lucky folks sit down and do this class, and get all close and personal with the mold, and then frost the cake with this upgrade set, It will be a prized possession.

Im betting this "bad cop" Looks 10x better in hand too...Such a sweet idea.
And your custom with the mindset/hailstorm parts is DAMN cool too.
Jerrymiru
So want!!!!!
Kung Fu Man
I'm happy enough with my custom. FE Bumblebee + lightbar + Hailstorm head = teh mutio rox.

This just looks odd. And short.
Sean Whitmore
Loving it, and I'm glad it uses the FE mold to make Barricade better stand apart from the PRID Vehicons.

Yeah, that's what made me fall in love with the mold. Buying it straight from Japanese retail and fiddling with it over the holidays in Japan.

KFC needs to release this kit as a mass release somehow. I'm already dreading trying to track this down on the secondhand market.

Thanks, man. I think my custom captures the Bayverse/Prime aesthetic while I think this KFC kit is going more for the Aligned continuity design (opposite Prowl), which may also fit Classics (maybe if they added some new 5mm fists to replace the claw hands).

Hmm, one thing I noticed as a missed opportunity is that the sticker sheet seems to be missing the blue and red police light details in his hips/waist area, as the 3D CGI design for Aligned continuity Barricade has.

So for the Silver Pack -- no lightbar, or mistake in the original post?

Confusion based on the website:

The apparently spurious comma in the second paragraph seems to indicate an item ("Light bar," perhaps?) missing from the list.
Scaleface
Shame this is a limited edition. Maybe they can make a version that's for mass release and made for the RiD Vehicon instead of for the FE Vehicon?
Deceptigtar
god i still want a toy of that aligned continuity barricade!

I wonder how it looks if you just put 2007 movie Barricade reprolabels on RiD Vehicon?

That looks good.

All versions of this set contain the lightbar.

Was thinking the same thing. Then it would just be a matter of paint for the doors and track down a light bar.

Still though. The head would be nice.

Haha if I went I'd just want the Vehicon

Non-attendee option please? Gonna have to step away from my computer for a couple of hours, really want this kit...
Simes
Non-Attendee Packs are likely to be tomorrow. I'm trying to get the best possible shipping rates as I can right now for the packs because of the inclusion of the Robot Manuel X toy.

Most couriers over here use strange international shipping rates if packaging goes above a certain size and because the toy is boxed, it means that unless I split the shipping of the pack in two, it may end up costing about 70 just to ship the Non-Attendee Pack to the US / Canada!

Don't worry though, we have set aside sets of the Bad Cop add-on kit and the Robot Manuel X toy specifically for Non-Attendees.

However, the kit is selling very quickly right now for attendees since it went on sale a few minutes ago!

Simon
Jerrymiru
So for the Non-attendees, would we be able to get just the upgrade kits seperately? Or at least the option?
Simes
I'm looking at offering two options for the Pack right now - one with the Bad Cop kit and one without but both will include Robot Manuel X as we know that there's been quite a large demand for this.

From our point of view, it's not practical to offer a wide range of options for the Non-Attendee Packs so we're basing the options purely on the quantity of items that we have available and to offer the best all-round package of convention items that we can this year.

...Except you and so many others conveniently ignore that the same "problem" that the PRID toy has, is the same problem the CGI models have. Unless you also dislike the CGI model which then I'll retract my statement.

However, the point of the PRID being good is that it looks like what the CGI model looks like. They look great for what they are...nameless infantry grunts. Looks like a brawler? Give me a break, man. I suppose if that's your deal then fine, but at least I'm pretty understanding of what the point of Prime Vehicons is supposed to be.

That being said, too bad this is a con custom exclusive. I'd love to re-purpose my FE Vehicon into something else that's not a Vehicon.

So there's no buying Bad Cop without also buying Robot Manuel X?

That'd save me having to wait up another night, I guess.
