Auto Assembly 2010 Announced AA2009NewLogo
It may be a year away, but that just gives you more time to save up some money! Today, Auto Assembly announced the first details for next year's convention, including the date, location, and (subject to commitments) the first guests who may be attending:

Yes, it's on the way... we can now reveal the first official details for Auto Assembly 2010! It will be another weekend convention and this time it will be taking place on Friday 13th - Sunday 15th August 2010 and once again it will be held in the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre, on Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham. The main convention will take place on the Saturday and Sunday again but there will be bonus programmes of events on the Friday and Saturday evenings for weekend attendees only.

We already have our first three guests confirmed for the convention - regular Auto Assembly guest and Transformers artist Simon Williams, colourist Liam Shalloo and making a welcome return to Auto Assembly will be top Transformers artist Guido Guidi!

The title states that it is a "Limited Edition" Dead End.

I don't really get what the exact differences are, but from the stock photos his stripes and detail look more pink/magenta?
flamingunicron:
limited edition probably means store exclusive
Jarodimus:
^ Yep. "Limited" in Japan, like Swerve and Stalker Scorponok.

Yeap. You must be a Toy Hobby Market member to buy it. They also just used the stock photos from Hasbro's Dead End, and the info on the page doesn't specify any changes to the figure.
DeceptiKreep:
I don't see any difference ... maybe they are just getting him there? no idea ...
Blurrz:
There's no difference at all, or that's what Toy Hobby Search says. Should just be like Swerve and Amazon Japan.
star11scream:
Now takara is losing it
Nevermore:
Why? They're doing this all the time. Cybertron Supreme Starscream and Movie 1 Brawl were both TRU Japan exclusives.
MegaHavok:
Seriously, villains don't sell as well as they do in the states so this is very common

Not so much to do with "villains" as with "redecos".

See Stalker Scorponok. See Swerve. See Recon Barricade. All exclusives in Japan.
Bgrngod:
BBTS put up a pre-order for this: RD-05 Dead End Japanese Exclusive - Transformers Transformers II - Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Exclusives at BigBadToyStore

My guess is that the only difference between the Takara and Hasbro releases is the usual upgrade in paint apps, and it's exclusive to some store. Not really worth $70.

EDIT: Price is $70 not $60.
ams:
Unless it's a departure from the norm, it will be EXACTLY the same as its US counterpart, with no paint changes.

And it's $70, not $60... aye carumba!
Blitz.:
man for that price I'd want to see something special.
soundwaveCA:
Japan does like their limited edition exclusives.

So, put basically, it's Dead End plus a $58 sticker. Awesome.
Autobot_Wall-E:
Maybe it is all of the extra purple on him? Idk I am happy with my Sideways and this is just like an ugly monkey/face plate version of him....

What extra purple? They are using a stock Hasbro pic after all.
VE Telus:
The new BBTS newsletter mentions specific changes in paint to this version. I deleted it already from my inbox. Does anybody still have a copy?

BBTS doesn't generally offer Japan exclusives that are the same colours as those available at retail stateside. The only example I can think of is the Toys Dream exclusive Cybertron deluxe Convoy. BBTS won't offer the unchanged Amazon Swerve, etc. because it's just bad business practice.

If they have a pre-order up for this item, at such a high price, I trust that they know what they are talking about. And if it ends up being the same colours, I wouldn't be surprised if they canceled their orders altogether.

EDIT: Found it! Here's what they say:

"RD-05 DEAD END JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE
We've got a number of this Japanese exclusive up for pre-order. This import version is said to be similar to the American release, but with different colors and more silver, pink and black, although the details are a bit sketchy at present. We've got it listed at $69.99, and expect it to arrive late December."

The product description on BBTS' page doesn't mention any changes in the deco. If anyone has the newsletter info please add it to this thread.

i think they worded it that way to give them selves an out incase it is different from their discription above...that way they do not feel like complete douchebags.

Takara lost it back in 2006.
DeceptiKreep:
Wasn't Swerve a Japanese exclusive as well? And I don't think the differences are enough to pay that much for. And BBTS always ridiculously prices "exclusives" so you could probably get it cheaper some other way.
