In a pre-Toy Fair update, Geekdad has lifted the lid on an all-new series of Transformers toys coming this Fall. The new line is named Transformers Construct-Bots, and it moves Transformers into a new realm of designs. Taking a few cues possibly from Bionicle or Machine Robo Mugenbine, this new series consists of 24 initial planned releases across four size classes, and they post complete compatibility with one another, allowing you to disassemble and reassemble the toys to your liking.

The four size assortments are Scout at $9.99 with characters like Ironhide and Starscream, Elite at $14.99 with Wheeljack and Soundwave, Triple Changer at $24.99 with Bumblebee and Blitzwing, and lastly Ultimate at $34.99 which is where Optimus Prime and Megatron may be purchased.

A natural progression from Kre-O, a fun new concept or just too plain cool? Sound off on your thoughts by hitting the discuss button below.

Hasbro Introduces Construct-Bots: Transformers With Interchangeable Parts! | GeekDad | Wired.com

Didn't see it posted anywhere. New line aimed at kids mainly but you can swap parts around O.o
benzo
Hasbro's version of Bionicle? looks alright I guess.
Spekkio
Just saw it on the "Transformers" Facebook page. Wow. Do not want.
benzo
I can see some great customs coming from these.
havanowoncheese
Looking at this myself now. I think kids will love these but those fugly things will not find a place on my shelf.
Incepticon
Yay, something even more kiddified and dumbed down than the RID and Beast Hunters lines. Just what everyone needs.
puma
some of these guys are fugly... but i'd buy Optimus because he's an Optimus. and then stop there.
MartyMcfly160
so don't know if this has been posted but just found this on wired

Transformers have been a favorite toy of geeks in both their original incarnation back in the ’80s and their newer lifespan since the first of the Michael Bay films came out. It’s easy to see why: Robots make great toys, and cool vehicles make great toys, so obviously a toy that can go back and forth between the two could only be awesome. Awesome as they have always been, though, there is still one thing that’s been missing to elevate their geekiness to the highest level.

That missing element? The ability to customize Transformers to fit your own imagination. And now Hasbro is taking care of that with the advent of Construct-Bots, set to be revealed tomorrow at the UK Toy Fair. Construct-Bots will come in four different sets, but all of them will have parts interchangeable with the rest, and each will come with a re-sealable case to ensure your kids (or you) don’t lose the parts:

The Scout assortment of Construct-Bots will each retail for $9.99, and will have 10 characters, including Starscream and Ironhide seen above.
The Elite assortment of Construct-Bots will each retail for $14.99, and will have 10 characters, including Wheeljack and Soundwave seen above.
The Triple Changer assortment of Construct-Bots will each retail for $24.99, and will be just Bumblebee and Blitzwing (seen above) — but they’ll each transform into both a car and a jet.
The Ultimate assortment of Construct-Bots will retail for $34.99, and will come with both Optimus Prime and Megatron, both seen above. Both Transformers will include projectile-firing launchers.

I like these, I have to say. I'd definitely get Bumblebee, and if that Starscream gets redone as Thundercracker it'd be a definite buy too.
TriBlurr
I actually like the idea of Bumblebee being a triple changer. lol

Nice to see Blitzwing too.

Not sure I'll buy, but their pretty neat.
Arashistorm
pretty epic, but they looks so skinny. The better way to do this would be to make the larger sizes the same as some of those larger lego sets, that were like 30$ or something, but the set would probably set people back.. cash and all
Vangelus
Really cool headsculpts. I wonder who's working on this? The headsculpts are kinda Kreo or Botshot ish.
scubaboy31
I think these look like fantastic fun. And what a great selection of characters! Not something I want to own, as I'm geared towards G1 and MP only, but I think they look pretty neat.

I really like the way the brand is expanding to be more than just the boring, stale, deluxe/voyager/leader status quo its been in for years. As long as they keep those types of toys for those who want them, what's the harm in them doing other things as well?
Squints
So it's like some weird mash-up of Transformers and Hero Factory...Not sure how I feel about the look of the bots, but I'm willing to reserve judgment until I have one or two in hand.
zopilote_z
Well, they madeīem into Bionicles since the first movie, donīt they?
SG Roadbuster
please tell me this isn't the only way we get Blitzwing.

I think you have completely the wrong idea what Bionicle was.

Anyway, they don't look God-awful, but I'll be passing. Some great kitbash fodder, for sure.
Ranger Silver 6
the ball joints look to be the same size. These will be very useful for parts. Especially at that price
Obsidian X
Some of them look kind of cool, not really my kind of thing though.
Bumblebee as a 3-changer, I laughed at that.
MachSabre
I can't say these are completely hideous. I mean, I'm not fond of a lot of them, but the sheer potential that this has... Is like nothing Hasbro's ever done before. I mean, when the Kreo started they were pretty weak looking too, but after a little refinement, they were pretty awesome. The Star Wars TF toys started off pretty unimpressive, but eventually, they developed some neat guys from that line as well. It may not be perfect right now... But with a little development, this could be huge.

At the very least, it ought to revolutionize kitbashing.

Until they make a figure of him with a different name to avoid Copyright crap, probably.
MechaV
Oh man these are freaking great. That Blitzwing is a must.
Spiderus Prime
A Transformers Version of Hero Factory great.
The Bucket Kitten
Interesting, I personally won't buy one (I say this now, but I could change my mind), but they look fun.
f-primusunicron
updated with images
miscreant
I don't hate them as much as i thought i would......

...but still not buying. Ever.
Gilgamesh
So, like Kre-O Bionicles (yeah, not exactly, but...)? Interesting, I think this has some potential.
f-primusunicron
i posted it first
-_-
BaltMatrix
Very interesting. I will pick up at least on set to see how they are. The one thing I'm wondering is if you will have to completely disassemble the figures and put them back together again for the 'transformation'.
shroobmaster
i

I dont

I dont know if this is the worst or the best thing ever

i dont
Ratchets Hatch
Oh man! I TOTALLY called this!

If that's what they're doing, I'd like some direct to DVD fiction.
power3921
Those look really fun! It giving me nostalgia for Bionicle
TCJJ
The concept sounded okay. Then I looked at the pictures..... No thank you. I'd rather not have Transformers Bionicles. Can we have some REAL Transformers again? And not that Beast Hunters crap, either. Why is it so hard to make more good beast figures? Thundertron appears to have turned out rather well, and yet they can't get any others right? Ugh.

My thoughts exactly - Hasbro's rip-off of Bionicle. All the alt-modes look basically the same thought. Might be picking up Blitzwing, probably that's it.
I mean, when you look at what you get for those things, you might as well buy Hero Factory and actually get a decent figure.
Optimus Prime
Blitzwing!
Sol Fury
Looks kind of fun in a Machine Robo Mugenbine sort of way. I'll pick a few up and probably end up with all of them
Quantum25
I can only imagine the kit bashing potential.
VictoryLiger
And then all of a sudden, BLITZWING! You win this round, Hasbro...
Puck Hockey
Hasbro legos? Yes. Hasbro Bionicles? Not so hot.
Dolza_Khyron
the official modes look "meh" but i like the heads!
silverstreak70
Thank you Hasbro, I can finally afford to get all of the 3rd party figures coming out that I am wanting.
TheBeastman
Not sure what everyone is hating these for. I love how they look!
(Except Bumblebee...Really, a jet bumblebee? Okay Hasbro.)
SoundMaster
Going to get Soundwave, who thankfully looks to be one of the better looking figures.
