IDW has released a full preview of the first part of the Combiner Wars crossover. Windblade #1 picks up where Transformers #39 left off and takes us to the lost colony world of Caminus! The preview only has the one extra page compared to the iTunes preview from the weekend, but it’s a good one! We’ve also got the alternate covers, a subscription variant by Livio Ramondelli and a very cute and heartwarming retailer incentive, which you can see to the left.

That's Hot Shot!!!!! HOt Shot, guys!!!! So good to have him back!!!!
Prime Wylde
I swear Stones art gets better progressively through the issue.
TacticalBacon
Please give Lightbright depth besides a one-page cameo with Hot Shot, IDW. Please, I beg you.
Shatterpoint
Well a lot of him died on the outside.
Thonor
I had the G2 Afterburner toy as a kid (still do). He was a great little transformer and I liked him a lot.
I get all excited for his first appearance in a comic, and look what happens!
A part of me just died inside…

I'm in the minority. i want this to be good, but I'm wowed by neither dialogue or art.
Veritas Prime
I agree, her art is what brought me back into the comics along with Milne's.

Who are these new covers by?? This new one and the Menasor one are by a new artist
Never mind found it
down_shift
Not loving the art.
Except for the fist bump cover, that's kinda cool.

HOLY HOTSHOT!!! please for the love of primus tell me we're getting a CW hotshot, that'd be awesome, although probably in the minority on that one XD
God Ginrai
I can agree with that.
Mechafire
I love that Sara Pitre-Durocher cover so much. ^^

Why is Putting Your Foot down both hilarious and tragic at the same time?
I absolute just love Swindle being faux affably evil…he's so much fun.
Raiju
Stepped on repeatedly by Overlord, compared to Trypticon's single stomp. I'm sure ground material and audience demographics have something to do with it too.

i'm curious why you think it's "perfect" ~ i really do think she does everything really, really well, but i just can't handle the uber-cartoony faces on robots. I'd honestly take Livio on TFs anyday over this ~ and again, i still think this is really well executed!!! ~ it just looks, well silly. Mostly it's just the faces, those expressions are just a bridge to far for me.
I also think it's odd that IDW wouldn't put 2 more complimentary artists on a 6 part story ~ wherever you come down on Stone -vs- Livio, or even if you like both. that is going to make for some ridiculously jarring transitions reading it in a trade.
(FYI: for me, the high water mark on TF art remains DW ongoing/early IDW Don before he tried the whole G1-meets-Baybots thing that just didn't work)

That user's whole schtick seems to be telling everybody just how bad IDW's Transformers series is running, with the only backup argument that physical sales are low compared to Dreamwave titles years ago, and the fact the two big comic houses would consider 10,000 copies sold reason for cancellation.
You're right though, sales are very stable. And I'm sure people who don't want to believe that will think this is just the author trying to put a spin on it, but James Roberts confirmed as such in the TransMissions podcast not too long ago: physical issues are selling fine, digital issues are selling fine, even collected TPB's are selling fine. It's supposedly even among the top selling IDW titles (I bet My Little Pony takes the crown, however).
Besides, we don't know the current relation IDW has with Hasbro. They just renewed for another ten years. They added an extra ongoing title. Comics are being packed in with the toys as an extra incentive, to the benefit of both.
For all we know IDW might even be paying Hasbro for the license anymore . That honestly wouldn't even surprise me.

Pipes got stepped on by Overlord and he's dead.
Murasame
Nice! I still have G1 Snipe! Hm but he's a bit short to put him next to Deluxes

She is. Apparently to a cover. Ramondelli is covering as an artist for issue #2. So Sarah Stone isn't going to be gone for the rest of Windblade, thank god. I personally, am not a fan of Ramondelli's work. I like his covers and that's really it,
