Introducing: The Circuit Smasher! The Autobots have been away from Earth for 21 years with disastrous consequences - and this is one human who is less than pleased to see the Autobots back on Earth after so long. The "Loose Ends" left dangling in Transformers #80 are coming back to haunt the Wreckers - they won a peace but failed to clear up their mess and it is the Earth that has suffered.

Check out the preview for this Wednesday's new release continuing the saga of the original Transformers comic series over on Comic Book Resources - be warned there are some spoilers for the issue right there from the word go!

Hopefully Fort Max isn't GONE GONE... It'd be cool if he's just out of commission and could be rebuilt...

And really, Spike is right. The Autobots are really to blame for leaving all of their loose ends behind for the humans to deal with.

Yeah, I'd love to see him back, though that continuity has a habit of making him a punching bag

That said, I wonder if Galvatron is still there

No.

Throughout the Marvel series, the Autobots were unwanted by the Humans and blamed for bringing their war to Earth. Then when finally the Autobots decided to stay away as the Humans wanted, the Humans discover exactly why the Autobots were so resistant about being driven away earlier. Because what they feared would happen happened as soon as they were gone.

Finally... something to get super stoked about.
Have to go and dig out the old Marvel series.... It was a great storyline that was dropped just when things were getting really good!

I can understand him being angry, but it is not these guys fault though.
In this continuity no one of these wreckers have ever been to earth prior to this if memory serves.

The humans didn't want ANY Transformers there. So the Autobots, having defeated the Decepticons, finally leave. But they don't clean up after themselves. Heck, they don't even try to find Ratchet or Fort Max, much less clean up the Ark...
Ayleron
how are they supposed to do that if the humans keep kicking them off the planet?

Just Kup. Who was under direct command of Fort Max and Spike prior to Prime coming back to life for the first time. Spike doesn't even flinch when they mention Kup. He just says "your pal"..

Oh yeah, I always forget that Kup, Roddy and Blurr were part of Fort Max crew.
They were such background characters back then in the US Marvel comics.

the art is getting better IMO.

also, i like taht Optimus is kind of stuck in this 'deep spiritual ponderer' thing- sort of like Optimus Primal in Beast Machines.

It should be noted that the Autobots weren't driven off of Earth in the original Marvel G1 series -- They (And the 'Cons, for that matter) were all teleported back to Cybertron to duke it out w/Unicron, no actual "Go home, Robots!!" kind of thing ever actually happened, they were just taken back home by Primus and never bothered going back. Futhermore, they never knew (So far as we saw) what happened to The Ark, who took it, who was still on it or where it landed.

Now, here's a good question: Where, O where has Shockwave gone? O where, o where could he be?

No, they had to take the Neo Knights and Blackrock back to Earth.... You'd think they would have detected Fort Max at the very least (the Dinobots did).

Megatron and Galvatron killed Shockwave. Maybe he stays dead.

Ratchet crashed the Ark before anything really happened. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Shockwave. He was a huge part of the Marvel books...

Wow, Circuit Smasher... 1991 called, and they want everything about you back.

This is possibly the worst art I've ever seen in any comic.... I was looking forward to this series but no matter how interesting the story is I just can't bring myself to look at this garbage.

Kind of reminds me of the DBZ trunks special. Circuit smasher is Gohan left to defend the earth, and everything is pretty much a wasteland due to a superpower. The humans have one powerful being around that probably only comes out of hiding when he's pissed enough, but tries to keep the race alive and hopeful. Just my take on the situation. We'll see I suppose.

Worth bearing in mind that in this continuity Earth history kinda stopped shortly after 1991 so if he looked like a 2012 super hero that would make no sense because the 20 years we lived through are not the same as the 20 years they lived through.

Heh, I love it - expressive and dynamic compared to a lot of TF art we've seen of late...
Nope

That's kinda the point, though. It wouldn't be any fun if this series had generic art that looks just like any of the other ongoings.

Well it's done that way intentionally to keep it in style with the original books, which also in case you haven't noticed weren't exactly well drawn either.

Marvel never used their best artists on these kind of comics, since it wasn't their property they were promoting and that comics like Transformers and G.I. Joe sold mostly on name alone.

I love how Optimus's little speech in a nutshell is the answer that we needed in the cartoon. It's the equivalent of "Yeah, I question myself too, I just don't whine like a little pansy about it."

I'm also a little surprised by the Spike reveal. I had almost thought that Circuit Breaker/Josie had a kid for a minute there, because that would have made sense. Plus when I was growing up reading the originals, I thought that she needed some tapping, cause she was Whiitesnake hot.

I love the artwork on this issue. Just evokes the original style so well, and it's simply beautiful. I think for me, in contrast, I've seen so much digital BS, it's too easy to pump it all into a tablet and call it art. When you draw it by hand, and actually use some skill, it's a hell of a lot harder. I'm not saying I don't like some of the generated stuff, like Spotlight or AHM, but again, it's comparable to using Auto-Tune to sing a song. It's a cheat, and a bad one at that.

Hey, at least they're keeping the art consistent. Even if the art is bad (Whether it is or isn't is a matter of opinion, obviously), it's better that it's consistent rather than jumpy, in my opinion.
