The next issue of IDW Publishing’s Transformers Ironhide hits stores this Thursday (Wednesday in Canada), so here courtesy of Comic Book Resources we have a five page teaser of the new issue. Be warned there is a big character reveal spoiler in the first five pages and therefore you should not read this preview if you want to save the surprise for when you pick up the book. Check out the preview by clicking on the link above if you do not mind being spoiled!

Getting Ironhide and Streaker back is more than I would have hoped for!

Heh… sorry, didn't mean it that way.
Class dismissed.

Which I personally don't mind and makes me very happy.

Hadn't we already determined that in the thread for the last issue? From his size/colouration/alt-mode/general design/drone-like behaviour, and the appearance of what seems to be (but actually doesn't look like at all) Metroplex… it points to Scamper.
However, yeah… the buildings that Ironhide enters DON'T really look much like Metroplex, besides the whiteness. Scamper actually turns into a 6-wheeled car, not a regular 4-wheeler, and has a rather prominent car hood on his chest (though this little guy has what might be a vestigial car-hood chest). Additionally, Scamper isn't a drone… he's actually supposed to be a sort of duplicate imprint of Metroplex's personality, but with more outgoing tendencies… so if it IS supposed to be Scamper, it's really not such a great likeness.
Though… given the characterizations and character-model variations we've seen in IDW lately, that's not really saying anything.

Is this the real Alpha Trion though? Love that the beard is more of a bandit scarf..but that, combined with his lines, make me think it's some sort of impostor..
Acteon
If they do bring back SS, I'll be a very happy camper. He's a great character and deserves a better fate than the one handed to him in AHM.

I was looking at the cartoon version, I didn't realize the toy had a completely different face. I was just putting 2 and 2 together black car with Metroplex equals Samper LOL!
Dark_T_Zeratul
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Alpha Trion is the "legendary character making his IDW debut."

I don't believe the old friend is referring to Alpha Trion.

While looking at that dude's head and comparing him to my Scamper figure I've come to the conclusion that KAGE is right. The head in the art matches the toy damn near perfectly, as well as the transformations.

Nice to see Alpha Trion make an apperance. Now things are starting to get even more interesting.

I loved Ironhide's "Ok – whatever" response, as well as AT's "you don't know who I am??"
I'll forgive the variety in art style between series (as long as it's consistent withIN a series), but really hope AT is going to be indication of consistent character/purpose.
M3Gr1ml0ck
Hmm, Alpha Trion being the "old friend" or something at his IDW debut, as the solicitations announced, was obvious enough, since the new direction is very Sunbow cartoon oriented.

MACRAPTRON is a comic artist himself.
While he's using this issue as an example, I think he's talking more broadly about designs change from book to book.

I just realized if they are inside Metroplex, then the little guy must be Scamper!
SharkyMcShark
I suppose the fact that this is a completely different version of Ironhide (ostensibly made a long long time before IDW's modern era and the real Ironhide's death), and thus is completely plausibly a different model, is lost on you.
