awesome might get that issue

Aww. Why'd you have to mention Nightbeat? I miss our poor detective.

I just reread the issue where Hardhead shoots him in the face the other day. That's a character that would've been interesting to see in the new titles.

Wait, its release date says 'June 27th'. That was last week. Is this one due out this week?
DJW107PRIME
Cool I like Brendan Cahill's art.
The Madness
For a minute I thought Wheeljack on the deck was a cameo Slicer, masquerading as Wheeljack.

I think someone didn't tell them that they switched the release dates with MTME.
RatTrap1985
While I don't like RID as much as MTMTE; I still think this is some of the best TF work we have gotten in a long time.
DrawerDemon
But, Metalhawk, I thought we were all supposed to get along now!
scubaboy31
that is probably the strongest opening page for a transformers comic i have seen. excellent work from Barber and Cahill.
MechaV
Not so high and mighty now, are you Metal Hawk?
icanfly
Wow that Metalhawk reaction looks promising
Sideswipe80
Is this out tomorrow or Thursday?
Acteon
Looks a bit more interesting than the issues that preceded it. I've not been a fan of RiD, especially considering the exceptional work over on MTMTE which continually outshines it, but hopefully having an actual threat to deal with over the (in my opinion) third rate political machinations we've had to sit through, might make it more interesting.

Fingers crossed!

Did Metalhawk just order someone to be killed?

Well, Metalhawk was there when Sunstreaker's team was retreating from Turmoil's attack.
He is taking it personally, I think.
Bass X0
Metalhawk doesn't care about other Autobot's uneasy feelings, resentment or outright hatred of Decepticons who have hurt them in the past - that those Autobots have to put the past behind them and move on whether they want to or not, but if he's confronted with his own personal demon, its "kill him where he stands".

This series makes me miss Masterforce Metalhawk.

Surprise, surprise, Metal Hawk's a self-righteous hypocrite.

Turmoil is a "fan favorite" character?

Since when?

This looks very promising. I like Starscreams reaction as much as Metal Hawks.

Apparently for IDW "fan favorite" = "created by Shane McCarthy". ;P

I like Turmoil

He should get a toy, even if its a repaint from someone else.
SMOG
Oh, I don't mind if we get a Turmoil toy (repaint or otherwise)... the more toys, the merrier. I'd like to see guys like Impactor first though...

However, I just don't see the appeal of Turmoil. I like the idea of there being OTHER Decepticon warlords out there (Straxus was the first to really stretch this concept), but Turmoil is pretty much the bottom of that heap... I mean, he might as well be Grindcore from Revelations, with a slight makeover.

One incredibly generic design (Brawl and Onslaught's love child?)
+ dopey arm cannon
+ utterly stereotypical villainous overlord personality
+ pretentious name
_______________________

= another lame fan-character

I mean, if Barber & company can somehow make this guy interesting and distinct, instead of the utterly disposable one-shot villain of the week that he was born to be, I'm all for it. But I don't really see the need for all this fanfare.

Given how they billed that Drift miniseries, it would certainly appear that way.

Starscream's reaction is interesting. I'm curious to see where this goes.
noblekale
I wouldn't mind Turmoil if they do something to show WHY he's such a feared and hated Decepticon, even amongst his own kind. If they want to do some kind of redeeming factor, maybe a trial where they show his past deeds or something. Just give us some kind of REASON for the fear/hate.

As someone who didn't like Drift at first, once they gave him a bit of character, he wasn't really too bad. Seeing the change happen to the character was pretty nice. I have a feeling if they TRY, then Turmoil could be a more vicious leader than Megatron ever was. But, will they is the next question.

I liked Turmoil more than I liked Drift in that backstory issue.

Also I purchased ROTF Voyager Megatron for a multitude of reasons (including he was the price of a Deluxe at the time) that also included I could always repurpose him as Turmoil.

I'll take cheesed off citizen of a dead world to generic shounen hero any day.

I guess you mean turmoil - Ultra class Onslaught would make a nice base for Turmoil.

Since he landed on Cybertron, i've thought Metalhawk would be a quick and easy repaint/head swap from RTS Cyclonus.

Really like the old school paneling over the course of these pages. nice pacing (and in this case, the spread on a page will probably have a greater impact than reading it digitally, just cause we been talking about that in MTMTE 6 discussion.

Starscream has been amazing throughout this entire series. He's so... starscream-y, i love it.
Starscream NZ
This is the first real US take on Metalhawk and i'd say it's a lot more interesting than his seemingly generic 'super awesome good-guy' Japanese characterisation.

Yeah just as long as it isn't a repaint of Bludgeon's mold.

I'm I'm done with that mold.

I guess 'fan favourite' rolls off the tongue a little easier than something like 'potential favourite of fans who don't mind the character not having a toy and only appearing in IDW G1'. Not that I'm poking fun at that really; that meaning's quite acceptable to me in detailed form or using more economy of phrasing. After all, the initial news of Turmoil's return in this story generated alot of manifold favourable responses from the, well, fans on this website to say the least.

Now I should start by saying while I've followed these two IDW series on TFW closely, I'm yet to put my money where my mouth is in supporting them due to holding out for a trade paperback or a hardcover; less items to hunt down and get posted to Australia haha.

That said, from what I've seen, there must be some anticipation both in the story and fandom for Starscream to slip up, but things to me just keep getting better because he doesn't. I mean that more in the story sense of good than morally; he still retains his character.

Really? I feel like I saw a lot of "meh" responses as well. On the internet, it's hard to gauge the magnitude of an indifferent reaction in general, because it's largely invisible.

But I honestly don't think there's any justification for calling out Turmoil as a "fan favourite" character. It's not about "economic phrasing"... it's just a misnomer. It's only self-manufactured hype. Now if they applied that to MTMTE Swerve, I might accept it. But Turmoil is barely above a generic redshirt hi-and-die.

And just in principal, I find the notion of a company declaring their own creation a "fan-favourite" to be fundamentally stupid. I mean, seriously.

If they're bringing him back though, I hope they do good things with him. He needs some interesting writing to pull him out of the "incredibly generic, forgettable and nondescript villain" hole. Enmeshing him in some kind of conspiracy plot or something might elevate him.

Haven't they just announced/released a trade for MTMTE?

I totally agree... I'm really enjoying Starscream as a regular in this title, and playing a role in the provisional government. I hope it lasts a while, because it's one of the more interesting things Starscream has gotten to do in 28 years.

Kind of reminds me of how they defected Spike into the regular "good guy" cast of Buffy years ago. He fulfills a similar role.
