More than Meets the Eye Issue 14 Preview

I'm hoping that Overlord clears out 50% of these guys. Roberts has been focusing relentlessly on the same characters for over a year now, it's time to see some new faceplates.

Yeah, everyone from before 1985! I'm with you on that!

There is a three page preview on iBooks. It's very hard to see what's going on, but there is a brief Prologue story that looks to be set in the distant past. The third page is back to the present.

Heck yeah! He can chop up Hound, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker, Hoist, Brawn, Grapple, Powerglide, Cosmos, Gears, Inferno, Huffer, Pipes, Smokescreen, Hell, maybe even Rachet.

I wouldn't care at this point, IDW uses the majority of the '84 cast so infrequently that they might as well be dead.

Roberts makes his characters seem more like humans than Transformers, so it's obvious he would rather write about people as opposed to robots. That being said, I think Roberts should replace Swerve and Whirl with Chip Chase and Abdul Fakkadi respectively. This next story arc would be an excellent opportunity to introduce them to the IDW universe.

Some weird looking dude with one eye - doesn't feel like a victim of Empurata, but a guy from a very different, higher order. In my mind he talks like the sniper drones from Fall of Cybertron

Chromedome is in Overlord's mind, reliving his memories. Kinda like Bumblebee did with Megatron in TF Prime.

I think Tailgate will save the day.

I'm torn. I want the story to progress, but I don't want anyone to die XD

How do you get the preview on iBooks? I downloaded the sample, but all that's showing up are the covers and some blank pages...

The white pages are explosions of awesomeness too bright to be visualized correctly.

I think I just clicked on the book and it immediately showed the pages..didn't download the sample. The pages should show up right there, in the same place you would expect screenshots to appear when downloading an app.

Don't misunderstand. Overlord isn't crazy. He's just very enthusiastic about murder.

Heck - maybe it's what's POWERING Aequitas.

Well, judging from those screens and the title, I'd say ol' one-eye there is probably a functionist. That might have something to do with a certain memory slug...

Thanks for the snapshots. They're too small to even try and enlarge to get any text out of it, sadly.

My speculation? The bot digging the green orb is pre-war Overlord. The green orb is some sort of super elixir that made him as powerful as he is. [Think of it like Shockaract's story].
EDIT: Or, as others speculated, maybe what's powering Aequitas. It's discovered on Luna 2, though.

The LSOTW like pages is Overlord's fantasy of how he obliterated Springer and Impactor, or an off-panel piece of action before Perceptor intervened.

I'm not the only one who was speculating on that, then. It's hard to tell with pages that small, but the heads DO have similarities, and he has those pieces sticking up on his shoulders.

I don't think the artifact changes him so much as he becomes curious about it and what it is. And wants answers. Heck - maybe that's why he took so long to attack Garrus-9 - he was trying to find it.

The boss of the drilling bots (the black one with the red face) is:

Momus.

Who's Momus?

He's the senator that gets murdered for being a Decepticon sympathizer, the same one Prowl and Chromedome investigate in Shadowplay.

He likes to hang around inferior bots because he USED to be an inferior bot - until he was granted freedom from function and was able to get a better body and function, which is happening here.

Really? Were you able to read that in these pages or is it speculation?

The timeframe appears to be way too close to Shadowplay\M:O\Autocracy for him to elevate status positions so easily and fast.

Not crazier than the theory that the one digging might be Overlord, but a nifty theory as well.

I was able to read the pages in iBooks, so I could read the texts. He is named (actually, names himself when he makes a call).

Then immediately went to the TFWiki to see if the names rang any bell, turned out his did.

Then re-read the part in issue 10, and they name him, and how he likes to hang around with drillers, dozers, etc.

I don't see why a character wouldn't be able to work himself up in approx. 200.000 years. He might have gotten help, or he just might be really good at being a senator.


One of the miner bots is called 'Frak', by the way.

MMMM, if you squint real hard it's the first word in his second speech bubble.

I'm under the impression that 4.2 M Years ago is approximately Chaos Theory\Shadowplay, that's why I found\find it so hard to believe he rose up so fast among the ranks.

The plot thickens. I'd say it's marvelous how a teaser text and three tiny, tiny, ungodly tiny pages have made it to four pages so far.

Shadowplay just mentions a 4 million year timegap between now and the flashback story. I'm not saying it's not a stretch, but hey, some Transformers and their fates change in just one Earth day, right?

Where's Nautilator's voice when you need him?

I just want to read this book so damn bad, it hurts.

Hmm, doubt that one of the miners is Overlord. Much like Sixshot, we know the phase-sixers were heavily rebuilt by Shockwave (and other scientists) to be such powerhouses - each with its own failsafe, of course, but Megatron choose particulary loyal ones for this task (there is a reason he did not rebuild Starscream into a phase-sixer). Read back Devastation 4 or his Spotlight, Sixshot goes into quite a detail about how he was rebuilt.

I wonder whether when inside Overlord's mind, Chromedome can still be hurt by Overlord? That'd be... unfortunate for him. But I bet he is not doing this alone. I'm quite sure Brainstorm knows - as a scientist working on experimental weapons, I bet he did rebuild Overlord and his plan is to somehow brainwash him into being a mindless weapon. Of course, it could also be Perceptor behind it all. let's not forget he worked with Prowl before to put mental suggestions in Kup's head...

Overlord was never a "phase sixer."

Shockwave only managed to infect him with a virus to stop him from using his full analytical ability on Megatron.

Obvious troll is obvious.


On topic: I both really want, and really don't want to read this issue. Can't wait to find out what happens next but I don't want to say goodbye to anyone either.

Now this....this is awesome.

They should definitely introduce them into the IDW universe. Then the Movie Universe.
