More Than Meets The Eye Annual 2012 Preview

Lots of good and surprising stuff, but without spoilers I think my favorite bit is Magnus's readout on Trailbreaker.

Finally! Nice read so far, though I'm not a fan of the art. It's not terrible, but not that good either.

Yeah, the art's just okay to me. It's not bad, but not amazing. Colours are nice. Different, but nice.

I still can't believe how awesome those eight pages were. I want to cuddle Tailgate.

The art is really lifeless and kind of bland. Wonder why they didn't go with Roche if Milne wasn't available.

Looks like a fun issue though. Major 'holyshit' at Ore (or Shock?) still being alive!

Yeah, weird they didn't get Roche. I can imagine him doing a lot with the Magnus part.

I think the main part is both Milne and Roche go for very dynamic poses and proportions, wheras this is very generic, typical G1. As such guys like Magnus who are supposed to be huge and imposing just kinda look like regular guys.

I miss Ultra Magnus from the original cartoon and the Marvel U.K. comic.

That was a Ultra Magnus I could enjoy.

But then this one is good too, just not in the same way.

Yeah I don't get this, it's the annual, why didn't they get the artists that we actualy associate with the series?

or atleast got Josh to color it and kinda slighty fool us that it's kinda like the usual art.

This is why MTMTE is great.

I heard complaints that MTMTE is too witty. I disagree that its a complaint. This is the best and most fun a Transformers comic has ever been.

This is the kind of Transformers book I've wanted for YEARS. Best it's been, IMO, since Marvel (for entirely different reasons). RID is good too, but MTMTE edges it out.

I don't usually complain about art that much but on some of this pages I am left scratching my head. I'm sure the overall story will make up for these slights.

Side Note: LOL at Tailgate still referring to Whirl as "Nutjob" and no one bothering to correct him.

Did no one else notice that Ultra Magnus referred to Atomizer way back in #1? Reading through the "As," "If he's who I THINK he is, never, EVER let him near a crossbow."

Regular artists are rarely used for annuals so that they can actually have time to do other issues.

Also they couldn't use Roche, as he's apparently busy with other stuff. (including something TF-related that's reported to be coming out around early 2013).

In anycase oh god if this event makes Ultra Magnus have a premanent 24-7 grumpy-frown for now on I will scream like a little girl!

Years? Try this is the Transformers i wanted to see my whole life! To me MTMTE is the pinacle of Transformers fiction!

Oh man, this is looking great, can't wait for Wednesday.
While it would've been nice to have Roche or Milne on the art I can live with this, I don't dislike it by any means.

So much goodness in just the preview; Whirl being Whirl. Magnus' forced smile and subsequent teasing, and that scowl! Magnus vision! "Oh, hi Ore. Don't mind me. Uh, sorry that you're dead"

First thing I thought when I saw him was "hey, it's crossbow guy!", Magnus vision is so good, I love that everyone he encounters is a "potential troublemaker" haha.

Yeah I like IDW's Magnus better than G1. Not that they're really all that different. For the sake of the Ongoing story, his stern no nonsense attitude offsets Rodimus's wild reckless nature.

I see it mostly as "smart humor" The fact that some don't get it or don't like it holds irony in itself.

The Nanocons in Magnus's head did look like Insecticons which is why I probably typed it initially.

Usually annuals are mixed into the appropriate TPB.
