The Ultimate Beast Hunters Are Back!
Grimlock and The Dinobots return this May!

San Diego, CA (February 28, 2013) –TRANSFORMERS fans hungering for more thrilling adventures with GRIMLOCK and his fierce DINOBOTS cohorts are in luck this May, when IDW Publishing presents TRANSFORMERS PRIME: BEAST HUNTERS! In this tie-in series to the upcoming season of “Transformers Prime” television show featuring the new BEAST HUNTERS saga, fans will get to experience a brand-new set of cyberfang-gnashing adventures based on the iconic brand from Hasbro!

For the thousands of years since the fall of CYBERTRON, the DINOBOTS haven’t been twiddling their claws! GRIMLOCK, SLUG. SLUDGE, SNARL and SWOOP have been martialing their forces and fighting the good fight against a slew of mysterious new villains.

The lauded creative team from TRANSFORMERS PRIME: RAGE OF THE DINOBOTS returns as writers Mairghread Scott and Mike Johnson team up with artist Agustin Padilla to chronicle the fierce AUTOBOT warriors’ resistance efforts. “There was a special kind of magic in that last TRANSFORMERS PRIME series,” said series Editor Carlos Guzman. “The fans really responded to the thrill-a-minute storytelling, and I can’t be more excited to work with Mairghread, Mike, and Agustin! And with our writers heavily involved in the Transformers Prime television series, we’re in a unique place to tell stories that matter!”

That story picks up miles beneath the charred remains of the TRANSFORMERS race’s smoldering home, CYBERTRON. As the survivors of CYBERTRON’s fall cling to the last bit of Energon left in its core, the DINOBOTS begin forging an unlikely network of hope underground, standing as beacons of resistance under constant attack, while they wait for the AUTOBOTS’ leader, OPTIMUS PRIME, to save them. While their efforts are nothing short of Herculean, can they hold off their shadowy assailants long enough for CYBERTRON to be saved? There’s only one way to find out!

TRANSFORMERS PRIME: BEAST HUNTERS is a veritable feast for Transformers fans of all stripes. Touting covers by Ken Christiansen and Michael Lark, this unique, action-packed adventure is one fans won’t want to miss!

TRANSFORMERS PRIME: BEAST HUNTERS #1 (FC, 32 pages, $3.99) in stores 5/22/13

BINGO! Exactly what i was thinking.

There had better be some serious Sludge service. I'm still pissed he wasn't in the DLC from FOC.

Was Slag replaced by Slug or is that a typo?

He was called Slug in Fall of Cybertron. I don't know if there's been an official reason given for why his name was changed, but there are definitely plenty of possible reasons.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about this. It appears that they're still trying to link WfC/FoC with Prime, and we've already established that they are different universes, no matter what Hasbro may or may not want us to believe. Honestly, I'm happy to have separate Transformers universes and combined ones as well, as long as Hasbro doesn't try to force continuity of series that shouldn't otherwise be together (which is what they're doing here).

Intentional. Slag is apparently an insult in the UK.

"Slag" is UK slang for "Slut". Hasbro's trying to encapsulate the worldwide market and not just the US, so words that are considered naughty anywhere are off-limits from now on. That's also why he was called Snarl in Animated.

The FoC Dinobot designs are so much better than the godawful IDW ones. They really need to bring them to the IDW-verse.
Rodimus Mike
Whether or not the Dinobots are in the show I don't really care,as I don't get the Hub channel, but what does interest me is they are being shown again in IDW's comic book for a second time, and hopefully this is a sign that we just might see the Dinobots in figure form one day,if so they are so bought on site.

Actually it's a derogative term for a woman in pretty much the rest of the world. Same vein as Slut/Whore would be used. So I can completely understand why Hasbro changed the name.

Also, lol to the "thrill-a-minute storytelling" said of TF Prime. Not sure who would agree there.

Pretty much. Unless they appear in a flashback - they honestly dont look like 'Prime' style.

I'd just like to chime in and remind whoever wrote this that "martialing" is not a real word. Period. The author probably meant "marshalling", but this is quite a big error to make in a press release...

Apart from that, another sad attempt from Hasbro to tie together the (obviously not set in the same continuity) WFC-FoC and Prime continuities... (for starters, Sludge is kinda dead there). I wager since Prime will be over in 13 episodes, we won't see any Dinobots in the cartoon. But, maybe this means more Dinobots will see a Generations toy release apart from Grimlock.

By "responded" I think he kinda meant 'ignored'. I have yet to see a Rage of the Dinobots discussion thread that lasted longer then 2 pages - and even those pages are mostly about how this comic goes nowhere. Seriously, in 4 issues, hardly anything happened that could be called a "story", and characters talk in such a stilted, forced way it was just weird.

^Yeah, seriously. Where's all this great praise and reviews coming from?
Chris McFeely
But is it a one-shot or an ongoing or an ongoing series of one-shots or WHAT? They don't say!
Scorpio
While their efforts are nothing short of Herculean, can they hold off their shadowy assailants long enough for CYBERTRON to be saved? There’s only one way to find out!

Just pointing out how stupid this whole comic is when the only thing at risk is Cybertron... which was completely deserted in the last series of Transformers Prime... which means that 'It doesnt matter if' they save Cybertron. 'It doesnt matter' they hold off their shadowy assailants. We all know they wont kill off the Dinobots in a mini-series comic book - that from the sound of it on here is less popular that the humping dogs in ROTF.
RedAlert Rescue
So so as he knows he is only speaking for "IDW fans" not "The Fans" I'm one of "The fans" I I didn't read his last touted comic so I can have no opinion on it's merit or lack of them one way or another. But he's not speaking for anyone other than his readers as a great many people no longer pay a blind bit of notice of Transformers branded comics.

If it's wonderful or not it has little if any baring on my fandom in general or specifically with regards to the Transformers Prime Universe.

And I think having FOC Grimlock as Prime Grimlock is at best "A bit of a stretch" and at worst a little bit absurd.

That looks epic!

Am ok if there are no Dinobots in PRIME series
That Guy
Dear Hasbro:

The TFA Dinobots were pretty sweet.
FOC Grimlock was pretty cool.
You may not know this, but kids like dinosaurs, maybe you could make a toy robot that transformes like, into an Apatosaurus, and call is Sludge, I bet kids would buy it. Also you could make a toy robot that transformers into a stegosaurus, and call it snarl, kids would probably buy that too. Maybe as another part of the BH or Generations line.

Come on 'bro, those are the only two that we haven't gotten cool new versions for.

To be honest I don't think that this fandom even knows what a comic book is supposed to be.
Da_Razorsaw
But seriously, these things are always full of good press and pumping the book up. This isn't anything new.

In fact, I'm pretty sure they've called Costa "critically acclaimed" more than once.
Mechafire
Oh joy.
Esquilax79
I'm wondering if they're just planning on making a TFP toyline (i hope!!) of the Dinobots for TFP but not in the show (just comic). Also wondering because since the Terrorcons are Legion/Commander size, so probably not in the show that they're going to have enemies... the Dinobots who will also be Legion/Commander size. I've been pretty happy with a lot of the Cyberverse figures so I'd be ok with that. They'd go well with Metroplex too.

I'd still rather have full size Deluxe figures and Voyager of Sludge. WHile the Rage of the Dinos comic hasn't been all that great, I keep buying it to send a message to make toys. lol. Who's the sucker, me!!

You make it sound like we never get figures of the dinobots, which is outright untrue.

It's just that the bulk of the dinobots were pretty insignificant, so they only bother with Grimlock.
Gingerchris
Didn't think much of the last one so I can't see me getting excited enough to open my wallet for probably more of the same.

More Transformers Prime Dinobots: Because No One Demanded It!

Seriously, the Dinobots have been one of my favorite Transformers subgroups since their inception in the 80's, but that last IDW mini-series was trash, at best. I did NOT get the impression that much time, or effort was spent on it at all, beyond maybe the cover art.
kaijuguy19
For all we know this may end up beng better then the last mini series so who knows? Perhaps we'll get some awesome stories yet in the comics concerning TFP and the Dinobots.
Zer0
For a second, I thought you were serious.
