2005 Boards member G1Wheeljack attended the IDW Publishing panel at the New York Comic Con and has shared a few teasers of upcoming information that IDW were giving out about their future plans for the Transformers comics:
– February’s Infestation crossover, which we reported on yesterday, will be in continuity, as a second mini-series will begin in March spinning out of the events of the Infestation crossover. Titled Heart of Darkness, it will get back to Galvatron, last seen in the All Hail Megatron coda. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, who are writing Infestation and the Transformers portion of the crossover, are also writing this one, with Ulises Farinas on art.
– The Transformers Prime graphic novel will be released as individual issues, starting in January.
– A second Transformers 3 prequel is planned, titled Rising Storm. John Barber is writing with Carlos Magno on art. Barber will also pen the Transformers 3 movie adaptation starting in April, with Jorge Moreno on art.
– The next major arc of the Ongoing series is Revenge of the Decepticons, and will feature a newly redesigned Megatron by Don Figueroa. The arc will feature the Decepticons attacking on every level possible, physical, psychological and so on.
– There will be a further print run on the Animated Allspark Almanacs. IDW Editor Andy Schmidt joked “we’ll charge you $300 for them since we know you’ll pay that much for them”.
On a sour note though while IDW wants to do further Animated comics there is nothing on the cards for 2011.
– Four new Spotlights are in the works. Three names connected with the project: James Roberts, Nick Roche and Chris Mowry. May still be a little way off into the future though as it was not in the main IDW presentation.
– Character wise, Ironhide and Sunstreaker will be seen again in 2011. There are “fluid plans” for the Dinobots, plus there is a possibility of the Quintessons making an appearance. Mike Costa also reportedly wants to bring Unicron into the mix, but IDW Editor Andy Schmidt says it will have to be something really good and not derivative for him to give it the green light.

So far, I can't find an article or post in which someone from IDW said that was the case. Here's a post from Denton Tipton in December 2008, so 6-ish issues into AHM:
I'll agree it's sad, though. I loved the "-ation" stories for the most part. I stuck with the book, but didn't enjoy it nearly as much.
Thundershot
People are misremembering. It was always solicited as in continuity, but later when people bitched about it, they said that it was originally going to be it's own continuity, but they liked it so much they used it as a soft reboot.
Which is sad, because it caused me to drop the book. I loved what Furman was building…

I'm not remembering this. The original press release about it stated it would be in-continuity: IDW's All Hail Megatron Press Release – Transformers News
Was there some other mention before the press release?

Mm. Source?

I don't know about Quints, but you'll be glad to know that Andy stated with no small amount of uncertainty that he would never, ever allow Unicron to be used in the comics because there's really nowhere to go after he's introduced. Costa says he has a great idea for it, but Andy shot it down, and will as long as he's the editor. Good on him, I say: Unicron's become rather played out in fiction.

These things really have me excited. Especially news about plans for the Dinobots!

Hey, yeah! False advertising rabblerabblerabble!
Opticron Primal
It's not random speculation. When AHM was first announced IDW stated it would be a "What If?" mini-series. A while after they said it would be an in-continuity story and was expanded to a 12 issue maxi-series instead.
Fort Max
I don't see any Hasbro news.

The fact no Animated comics make me sad but a further print run of the Allspark Almanac has my interest. I still need it.

Even more Nick Roche very nice
Oracle_Aesir
It's called random speculation lol
I like the look of all these upcoming comics

Me too.

This.

Uh yeah, not motivated to buy. Try again please, IDW.

I beg you IDW, no Unicron or Quints. Please. The universe has the potential to be so vast, there's really no need to dredge them up. Less human dullardry would be appreciated too.
IDW nailed the 'perfect' pace and storytelling with Stormbringer IMO. Recently the stories are getting bogged down by dull dialogue and somehow feel too short. Don't get me wrong, love a good script, but there needs to be some action between all the speech bubbles… and less frames wasted on back-and-forth banter. Be concise!
edit: Hurrah for Don F's return. LOVE his artwork. Gonna echo what DJ said about a return to the LSOTW arc too.

As Andy explained, they have way the hell too many titles coming out through 2012 to be able to dedicate time to an Animated comic on top of that. Having a movie coming out next year will do that.
A pretty reasonable explanation, I think. I don't care when it happens, so long as it happens. If we have to wait until Movie 3 dies down, well, we wait. You know what they say about 'those who wait'.
That is definitely not an issue: IDW is, as far as anyone knows, including Andy, the only party not affected by the ownership issue.

I'd like to see a Springer, Perceptor & Impactor Spotlight post LSOTW. Also I"m wary of Don coming back I really liked Guidi's art and style.
