Javi 2 Suave:
I didn't know if this was already out there or not, but it looks like IDW is going to reprint the Dreamwave MTMTE serires

Omegatron1:
Wow, if you order both together, you save ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! I may get the first one anyway, which means I'll just have to find issue 5 to complete my collection.
Runamuck:
I thought they already released these? I guess I missed something....but damn, that is one long preorder. December 25th?!
Lumpy:
awesome...ive been wanting those in TPB...

This is pretty much the usual schedule for selling trade paperbacks in the book market. By this time, comic publishers have already submitted their solicitation information for items being released in the last 3rd of 2008, and are working on info for the first 3rd of 2009.

Primus:
This is really cool. It's really a shame that the artists don't see any ancillaries from these being reprinted though.
Dinobot Nuva:
I remember them talking about reprinting these, but I coulda swore Chris Ryall said they'd decided against it for the time being. Guess that time is over, I only got the last 2 issues, and I'll TOTALLY be picking these up at my local shop.
DN
Izzo01:
refresh my memory these are profiles only right .... kinda of like Marvel's TF Universe from back in the 80's
alien:
this is best chance since i had miss last time...
Trilobite:
I saw that this weekend. Very cool! It looks like they're going to reprint the Armada trades as well, with the first volume due in October.

Also, volume 2 of The Ark is out in July.

Fit For natalie:
Too bad it's unlikely that they'll restart the Energon MTMTE series, since the surviving art (assuming Dreamwave didn't steal the original art the poor artists did submit) was unfinished, as I recall, and there's no money in commissioning new art and writing for a profile book on a now-dead toyline.

Dreamwave's collapse also cost the possibility of a Cybertron MTMTE series, which is bad given there's very little official hand-drawn Cybertron art outside of the Club comics and those Key maps.
Robogeek28:
So IDW had done an absolutely terrible (IMO) job on the Beast Wars sourcebooks, and is now reprinting the DW ones, which were handled MUCH better(again IMO).....alrighty then.

Anyone know if The War Within part 3 last issues were ever finished but just never released? I'd love to see IDW put THAT in a trade if it was somehow possible!
dragon_lord:
yeah, WW would be a better choice
Thundershot:
If everything goes right, the Beast Wars MTMTE TPB should be pretty good... Here's hoping!

Chris
Aberration:
I was able to snag the original Dreamwave TPBs, but I'm glad these are available again for anyone who missed out. I hope they release the Armada MTMTE in trade at some point as well.

I don't think they were ever finished, but I'd love to see it done.

They're supposed to fixthe errors in the BW sourcebooks for the TPB. It stinks that there were so many in the single issues.

Chris
See that's the problem, there shouldn't have been so many things that needed fixing. I'm not about to buy a trade with mostly so so bios and artwork AFTER buying the comics just to get a version with corrections that should've been made in the first place.
Railguard:
I am going to go look at these but I think I would pick up the newer ones first, they look really cool!!

Maybe IDW are trying the old distraction trick:

IDW: "Yeah, the Beast Wars source books. They, um - LOOK! DW MTMTE!"

Of course, them reprinting a far better example of profile books done by DW does kinda show up the poor nature of the IDW ones even more.

Anyways, I have the issues from back then, so I'm not overly fussed about trades for this.

Nor am I since I've got them all myself. I just find it funny that they would reprint something in the same vein of what they've just done, especially with how badly it turned out for them.

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed most of what IDW has put out, especially the G1 stuff, but that BW profile book has just left a bad taste in my mouth that doesn't wanna go away.....perhaps I need to use more mouthwash.
Dinobot Nuva:
IDW's already reprinted the first two volumes of War Within. Legal issues prevent the third from being completed (maybe someday. . . ;_.
Armada Trade=get. I picked up the series late into its run and only started the earlier material through IDW's (now dead) TF Magazine. Nice to see that I'll still get to read it somehow.
Also, Ark volume 2?
Le wtf, an extended edition? Maybe Beast Wars or Japanese Animation models?
DN
SMOG:
Wait... so what's actually IN each of these?

Is it just a straight alphabetical listing, divided into 2 volumes?

Or do Vol1 and Vol.2 cover different thematic content?

zmog
smkspy:
Cool, I have volume 1 and these are basically non-existent in the market. So definitely will pick up their Vol 2. Now only if IDW would reprint G1 vol. 3.
KidDynamite:
I have the two trades DW released already, so I'll be skipping these. It's a little bit of a strange choice since the profiles tie into the DW continuity. That creates confusion since IDW's continuity is completely different. Still, good news for everyone who missed it the first time around. The single issues were underprinted and sold out fast, and the volume 2 trade was released like two weeks before DW folded, so it was only in print for the blink of an eye.

I would double dip and pay a lot of money to get these printed in a single volume hardcover though.

From the Amazon listing:

Sounds good to me!

Anyone know when the BW Sourcebook is supposed to come out? I had it pre-ordered on Amazon for supposed release earlier this month, but they canceled it. The listing now says they don't know when it'll be available. Deepdiscount.com has it listed for 3/31/08, but their release dates aren't always reliable. And I can't get IDW's site to come up.

I'm just guessing here, but I think it got delayed a bit while they fix the errors.

To the best of my memory this is wahtwe had finished & was unreleased at the time ofthe DW shut down:

War Within III: 1 issue 100% done, 1 issue pencilled
Energon: 1 issue 100% done, 1 issue pencilled
G1: 1 issue fully pencilled, 1 issue half pencilled
Energon MTMTE: I was manager on this one. I'd say about 2/3 of all the art for the whole 3-issue series was complete.

I don't think that's ever really been true. It's just a matter of IDW asking the creators "Hey can we use the art you produced? We'l pay you?" Most of these guys work for IDW now anyways so it'd be easy enough. They probably though would rather invest in their own new stories.

Anyways, I'm curious which version of MTMTE they will be printing, since a lot of changes and corrections were made between the individual issues and the TPBS. I'm not sure if the TPB version files were ever given to Hasbro. Hopefully they won't just scan the pages from the printed book like they've done for portions of the other Dreamwave reprints they've done. The quality ends up being just... yuck.
Thunderthruster:
all i can say is its about slagggin time, i've only got issue's 5, 6, and 7!
Star Cracker:
As a proud owner of all of DW's MTMTE books, I'm glad IDW has decided to go ahead and share the love that so many missed out on.

Seriously, though I do hope that the next set of profile books that IDW decides to undertake adds more than just the characters and goes the extra mile explaining the technology and history behind the Transformers the way DW did in their books.

Also, I wished they didn't cop out on not including ALL the variants of certain characters (i.e. we get Primal, and Optimal Optimus, but no Transmetal Primal).

Wasn't that solicited(sp), or at least rumored at some point?

In a supreme universe they would cut out over half of the Japanese duplicated characters, and show art for all modes of the remaining characters (regular, Transmetal, and Transmetal 2).
Trombonus:
Thank goodness!! I have volume 2, which I just happened to find in a local book store while on band tour, but have been unsuccessful in finding volume 1. I tried Amazon, but the only copy I saw was on sale for over $100!!! I seriously don't have that kind of bread. I'm a college student dagnabbit.

I was tempted though...
SkyQuake:
I've got both MTMTE Volumes 1 and 2. But Volume 2 looked like the printer was beginning to run low on ink. It wasn't as crisp as the original issues.... But I think I will pass on this. It would be kind of nice if IDW updated the bios to reflect their Universe. I mean, while the bios are entertaining, they no longer reflect the current fiction. They need to be tweaked.

Yes, I think right around the time IDW acquired the license it was rumored and may have even been solicited. I hope they haven't forgotten the idea.
lastmaximal:
i would actually prefer if they left the original DW profiles alone. only way that makes sense.

i just hope IDW goes through with these; iirc the idea for releasing them [and corresponding supposed release plans] these have been tossed around since forever. i'd love to be able to have the Armada ones in trade format. similarly, i'm very happy these are still supposedly coming out; i never got around to picking up the MTMTE v2 TPB [whew] before DW went under, and as such just have the individual issues 5-8.
Christian Prime:
So being wanted to get the TPBs!

I can't wait for these titles!
hotrodreeves:
why god. why do you torture me? i spent a fortune on the original dreamwave mtmte trade books about a year ago when i could have waited and got these ones cheaper and newer. oh well. they are still definately worth the money.
avc-prime:
Did DW ever release this books in TPB format? I thought they did.
lastmaximal:
yes they did, but distribution wasn't the best. i'm STILL hunting down the second volume...
nkelsch:
I am glad we are getting Armada profiles in TPB...

I hope we see Beast Wars profiles in TPB too.

I don't know if there is much hope or market for energon and Cybertron profile books. I know there was a FANDOM RID one and Machine Wars project but it would be awesome to have all series covered.
Red leader:
I got the original run of comics and the 1st trade paperback, I will give this a miss however if there was justice they would finish off the original DW story because damn that was getting good!
Baccala1976:
I'l get this so I can keep my originals all minty!
Max-prime:
Looks like they dropped the price already from 24.99 to 16.99 ...... 32.00 for both .... ORDERED !!
GreenScream:
I've always wanted these but they've been out of print for sometime. Always have love these types of profile books like DC Who's Who and Marvel Universe Handbooks. So this is welcome news.
