Comicbookcritic.net has posted IDW's Transformers comics solicitations for the month of July. We have a lot to look forward to in this month. The big one to look forward to is Regeneration One number 81, the continuation of Marvel's Generation 1 series. The comic that ended in July of 1991 continues on 21 years later. More Than Meets The Eye and Robots In Disguise seventh issues will kick off Decepticon month and will feature the return of several Decepticons to the fold. Read the solicitations below but beware spoilers!

Transformers: Regeneration One #81
Simon Furman (w) • Andrew Wildman & Stephen Baskerville (a) • Wildman, Guido Guidi (c)
The TRANSFORMERS comic that began it all—is back. With a vengeance! 21 years have passed since CYBERTRON was restored to its former glory, and finally there is peace. But, after millions of years of bitter civil war, can all ever truly be one? In a conflict this primal, this epic and far-reaching… There are always “Loose Ends”!

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye Ongoing #7
James Roberts (w) • Alex Milne (a) • Milne, Nick Roche (c)
DECEPTICON MONTH! The war’s over — but no-one told the DECEPTICON Justice Division! Meet the five deadliest DECEPTICONS in the galaxy. Their sole purpose: to hunt down and kill anyone who has ever disobeyed MEGATRON. Who’s their next target?

Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #7
John Barber (w) • Brendan Cahill (a) • Andrew Griffith, Casey Coller (c)
DECEPTICON MONTH! Fan-favorite character TURMOIL returns from the dead—but what does he want on CYBERTRON? The AUTOBOTS don’t want another DECEPTICON on their planet and the DECEPTICONS don’t want things to get any worse… but what Wheeljack discovers about the DECEPTICON warlord will change everything!

That art... blech.

I'm glad Furman is back writing Transformers.

I'm less excited that it's a continuation of the Marvel G1. We had our Marvel-verse ending. It was called G2.

I'd like Furman to write a completely different take on Transformers. I think that's what made his War Within and Armada/Energon stories more interesting.
ZacWilliam
I think that cover's SPECTACULAR art wise.

Loved Wildman back in the day and love him today when he's hitting on all cylinders. Very cool looking.

And the original Marvel comic will always be the best Classic TF universe to me. Can not wait for this continuation!

-ZacWilliam, hope the inside art is as cool as this cover.

Wow the MtMtE solicit and cover almost gives me the shivers. That sounds amazing. And it features the full return of real Cons to the book.

That RG1 cover is pretty awesome too. Best piece by Wildman I've seen on this series yet. VERY excited.

-ZacWilliam, wondering if any of the five will be folks we know...
Sideswipe80
Man IDW has been really hitting them out the park since the new ongoings. I wonder if the 5 Cons are new characters or existing ones. And Turmoil back from the dead? This outta be good. Looking forward to Regeneration! Maybe the 13 will s how up?
General Tekno
Turmoil?!?

Freaking. Awesome.

Honestly, I would LOVE to see a toy of him. Heck - Hasbro could probably get away with a WFC Onslaught or Brawl redeco.

All these on the month of my birthday?

IDW you shouldn't have!

Was he with the Cons in the Drift mini? I can't remember.

Yeah; he was the guy tracking down Drift. Thus my guess.

I wonder if they'll have anyone with more tracker-based altmodes in this group, like say Carnivac.

Normally I would assume it from the get-go. Only reason I wonder is because that(very awesome) sigil-headed Con on the cover doesn't strike any memory bells.

Carnivac crossed my mind as well. And we know Roberts is a Marvel UK fan.

Am also wondering who they're hunting. Doesn't seem to be any likely suspects among the crew. Though there are a few unaccounted for big name Cons out there in IDW I imagine they'd want to speak to.

-ZacWilliam, can think of 4 in particular they'd likely want a word with...

Ah okay. For some odd reason I thought he was just working with those aliens to capture slaves. My memory is off lol.

Sooooooooooooooo excited, god I can't wait because all of the comics sound amazing!

Wait... why is Megatron's helmet gray? The Marvel Megatron has the distinction of being the G1 Megatron with the black helmet...

EDIT: Then again... it's the same color as his fusion cannon... so maybe it's ok.

.
They've said they're using the quirky old Marvel colors for all flashbacks, but using "corrected" colors for the modern story.

-ZacWilliam, don't see why they didn't stick to the Marvel colors for the whole thing, but it has been 21 years, which is a lot of time "in story" for folks to change some.
Sideswipe80
Zac, do you think we'll see anything about the 13 here?

Lockdown, Carnivac, Weirdwolf, Fangry and someone else?
ORIO
Just noticed Brendan Cahill is on art for RID. That makes sense. i think his work should blend effortlessly with Griffiths in the same way Milne and Roche's have.
IaconStargazer
Turmoil's returning? That could be cool - although I wouldn't consider him a "fan-favorite" character.

The Decepticon Justice Division? Oh, this ought to be good! It's good to see that just because there are two wide mixtures of characters going about trying to re-establish Cybertron's prosperity in their own ways, it doesn't mean that the war is completely over. By the way, isn't the DJD the area of the Decepticon forces that Agent 113 is a mole in?

And as far as Regeneration One is concerned, I'm not interested, but it does sound cool for fans of the original Marvel continuity.
Star Saber
Wow, the Decepticon Justice Division sounds awesome! Cover art looks great as well. Can't wait to read this! Looks like we might see some Autobot casualties after this.
Maverick Hunter Christian
Hm... whose gonna be in the DJD?

I wonder if Black Shadow will be among their numbers; given his 'out-of-nowhere' appearance on the montage page in MTMTE #3? Being a Phase-6 caliber Decepticon would go a long way towards counting him as one of their most dangerous.

Of course, given Roberts' affinity for hi-then-die bots, we're just as likely to be treated to a bunch of blokes we've never seen before.

...but who're they after?

Safe money? I wanna say Drift. He's a main character of the book. Not only did he refuse Megatron's summons when Lockdown tracked him to New Crystal City; but he also went over the wall and joined the Autobots. If that's not a betrayal... I don't know what is.

*edit* The cover to MTMTE #7 is positively chilling. Can I *please* get a clean, hi-res image of that? Pretty please?
ORIO
Black Shadow is a good guess. Maybe some Mayhem Attack Squad action?
adambman
A rogue/harline team of Decepticon's probably won't just track someone down to say 'Tag, you're it!' or even just a chat. With that in mind, Lockdown fits both roles perfectly. Anyone like Octopunch or Spinister could be cool, but perhaps that's thingking tooo far along the lines of Thunderwing's team in the old comics? On that note, Black Shadow could be cool yet probably overpowered.

In any case I wish I was following all this closely, but my current plan is to focus on/save for my figure collections and then rack up all the IDW material bar LSotW - which I own - in hardcover volumes.

Ok, looks like I'm not the only one thinking along those lines! Also, with Turmoil being back from the dead in some fashion, I cannot help being reminded of Banzai-Tron, though when last I was informed, he as Arcee's punchbag.

I wonder who that warlord who will "change everything" is.

Leige Maximo?
A reborn Overlord?
Galvatron II?
Nemesis Prime?
Deathsaurus?

I think Warlord was still referring to Turmoil.

That MTMTE cover is amazing!

Whoever that is on the cover of MTMTE 7, he needs a toy as soon as possible. As in, cease development on all other toys until I have it in my hands.

Same time McCarthy became fan favorite writer (if I remember corectly, they said so in one of the Drift mini solicitation)?

Then again, those two seems to be pretty fan favorite on IDW forum...
mrgalvaprime

Shame that due to PRID i wont afford comics for some time

That MTMTE cover is fucking rad. Shame it probably gonna be Dorifturu-chan focused.

This made me laugh genuine.

Oh Shane McCarthy, you dummy...

Love the MTMTE cover. Who dat Con?

I know the art on the Regeneration cover is supposed to be "old-fashioned" but I think it's also just a bit... awkward...like in a bad way. Not digging it. Maybe the new-style colouring disrupts the retro-ness of it?

Turmoil? I have to say, he is one guy I care little to see again. He was already a totally disposable, generic "bad-guy commander" in the first place. Put Motormaster's mind in Onslaught's body and give him an arm-cannon. Yawn. Hopefully Barber will do something interesting with him.

Oh, c'mon... that Drift hating/baiting is sooooo old now. Nobody should be so fixated. Someone introduced a new character to Transformers OH NO! So far Drift has been remarkable in the comics for being nowhere near as obtrusive and obnoxious as the backlash against him. I even like the way Roberts is playing him subversively as a sort of an extra obsequious new-age ideologue.

Ha ha ha ha ha.
Seriously? You're actually contesting the fact that Milne so cleanly immersed his style into Nick Roche's on this book? I think it's pretty impressive. To shift gears like that artistically, and succeed so well at it, is quite a feat. My hat's off to Milne.

Is it just me that gets a slight Cobra Storm Trouper or Alley Viper type of vibe from him? Either way please make him bad@ass and not a lame pushover.
Darkspeed
Oh man, dat MTMTE cover... Chilling man, so chilling. Looking forward to seeing who's on the list of these big bads.

I was honestly never that excited about Turmoil really... Good concept, but he just never did it for me. Still, will be interesting to see what they do with him.

My thoughts exactly.
AsswhompSupreme
Hmm...I wonder...could that mysterious MTMTE con possible be Soundblaster?
-He recently had a toy released
-His head is clearly based on the Decepticon symbol, just as Soundwave's is, only it's he's a dark blackish purple
-They made Megatron and Galvatron separate characters, why not Soundwave and Soundblaster?
-That seems just like the crazy obscure out there stuff James seems to like to do

Also, I'm not sure, but I'm fairly certain Lockdown is referred to as a bounty hunter in the drift series, so i doubt he would be a member, but who knows. I really hope we see Counterpunch among their number though, just as some have suggested.

((EDIT: On closer inspection, it seems like the head is actually a large helmet with a head/face underneath. You can see it in the eye holes. What's weird, is that it looks like the area surrounding his left eye is wrinkly and organic, while the area surrounding his right eye is very square and likely mechanical. Maybe I'm just crazy though. Still hope it's Soundblaster though))

OOh you gotta remember that there is a guy in the justice division who is in fact an autobot spy

Yep - "Agent 113," the spy who's known by some Autobot medics to fire special bullets secretly fitted with data chips into Autobots' insignias during battles to relay important Decepticon intel. Some fans - including myself - like to think that it's Punch/Counterpunch.
