An All-Out Arms Race Takes Hold Of Cybertron!
The Combiner Wars Loom…
San Diego, CA (February 5, 2015) – The biggest TRANSFORMERS publishing event of the year kicks off this March when Cybertron becomes the battleground for the COMBINER WARS! An all-star creative team is bringing along fan-favorite characters and all-new dangers to this battle royale that will shake both factions to their core.
The “Opening Salvo” is fired in TRANSFORMERS #39, and the war begins in earnest in the debut issue of the brand-new WINDBLADE series from the acclaimed creative team of Mairghread Scott and Sarah Stone. The shaky peace between the Autobots and Decepticons is threatened when Cybertron’s leader, Starscream, stands against Optimus Prime and raises an unstoppable army of Combiners, threatening Windblade’s long-lost homeworld..
“We’re blowing the TRANSFORMERS universe wide open with this series: showcasing new characters and new worlds in a battle with some of the biggest ‘bots you’ve ever seen,” said WINDBLADE writer, Scott. “Anyone who thinks they know what to expect from a Transformers event will have to think again.”
The ongoing TRANSFORMERS series written by John Barber welcomes PRIMACY artist Livio Ramondelli on to the series for this epic arc. “From day one of this series,” says Barber, “we’ve been seeding the mystery and power of Combiners—multiple Cybertronians who form together into bigger, more powerful wholes. Starscream realizes he needs one of his own to protect Cybertron… but why stop at one Combiner—or one world?”
The arms-race of Combiners will bring fan-favorite TRANSFORMERS characters to the pages of IDW comics for the first time ever—and introduce a new Combiner guaranteed to melt the internet. Featuring standard covers by Casey W. Coller and subscription covers by Ramondelli, the epic COMBINER WARS event will be an integral part of Hasbro’s 2015 TRANSFORMERS: GENERATIONS COMBINER WARS toy line, reaching a massive fan-base and will be supported across multi-media platforms.
If retailers order 250 copies each of TRANSFORMERS #39 and TRANSFORMERS: WINDBLADE #1, they’ll get two special covers by Travis Sengaus depicting that retailer’s store being protected by Superion (on TRANSFORMERS #39) and destroyed by Devastator (on TRANSFORMERS: WINDBLADE #1). And best of all… those two covers COMBINE into one mega-image!

I really hope someone at IDW is seeing the reactions to Livio and is taking notes. His stotytelling is shit. Why have an artist on a comic when you can't tell what's even happening? Please let it end already. It is trulg the worst TF art, I dunno, ever.
Negativedark
Looks like the only change for MMTE will be the Protectabots leaving the crew. Though honestly the LL could really use a combiners firepower when they take on the DJD.
IgnikaMarcus
Wasn't it stated that Combiner Wars will not effect MTMTE?
Shlockwave
Well if it's a combiner like "Deceptigod", It will melt my investment in the story. LOL
LegendAntihero
I'm glad they did a press release for Combiner wars. I've been looking forward to this for half a year
Autovolt 127
I just don't understand why IDW keeps overusing him so much. I never find any of the comics he draws a fun read.
That would be pretty cool.
I'm going to make a wild mass guess here and say Prowl will save the day, Prowl will lead Cybertron (like the magnificent bastard he is) and Starscream will now been exiled to The Lost Light where he will become a thorn in Megatron's side once again.
TaintedPiffy
I really hope not. I love him being in charge.
soundwaverulls
Starscream is definitely the villain. In fact it sounds like the Autobots, and Decepticons will be teaming up against him. I really expect this to be the end of Starscream's reign.
SPLIT LIP
Wait, are you trying to tell me IDW has massively over-hyped one of their events?
Say it ain't so.
It's funny, they never supremely over-hype MTMTE with shit like "melt the internet." It seems like the more quality the book, the less need for ridiculous over-hype.

My above statement notwithstanding, I'll concede that Ramondelli's style was appropriate to the dead universe.
I still never want to see it (either the Dead Universe or Ramondelli's art) again.
G.B. Blackrock
Agreed. Stop giving this guy work, IDW. His work just muddies up otherwise-enjoyable storytelling.
Strawberrytop00
I would laugh harder if it was Whirl though…
Also are they gonna make Starscream the villain again?! I kinda don't want to see him go back to being a baddie.

i would think that by now the majority of the CW issues would have been written, and half of them drawn ~ The Fan Built combiner probably will be decided to late to be included in the proper CW issues of the comics.

Bump!!!

Mark my words… there will be a variant cover with Arcee looking like the Kim Kardashian cover…
doomtron
My thoughts exactly

well, i am just going off the toys and making a guesstimate, but Galvatron is in the "book formerly known as RiD" and that silhouette from the "fan built combiner" poll sure has a head that sure looks like Galvatron + we basically know with 99% certainty Cyclonus is getting a figure that's a Silverbolt remold based on that same diagram ~ i can easily imagine they'd use whatever story gymnastics are necessary to bring him in to the story.
It's just the only thing i can think of, based on what we know, that would be a new combiner that would even remotely "melt the internet"

i've been critical of Livio in the past, but i actually thought he was a highlight of Dark Cybertron (keeping his work to the Dead Universe certainly helped do to mood and limited # of characters).
CrockAlley
I see your "sigh" and I raise you an "ugh."
This is not good news. Sorry, Livio, I'm not a fan. It's all such a mess.
