IDW Transformers comic writer Simon Furman has updated his blog with a few teaser bits of what to expect from this June’s Spotlight: Wheelie issue. He talks about working with his artist Klaus Scherwinski in what he calls a “Marvel-style plot” and how that differs from his usual writing process. Furman also applauds Scherwinski’s passion for the often-derided Wheelie and this story, and mentions a Decepticon trio that makes their IDW debut. Insecticons? Firecons? Check out the blog, then discuss below!

EXACTLY. Personally, I find an element of coolness in nearly EVERY Transformer. Often times, it can boil down to poor treatment. I think what annoyed me worse than Wheelie in the movie and Season 3 was how the Dinobots were just dummied down for comic relief. I thought it was cool when they were first created how tough they were. I think it could have been possible to reach a balance with toughness and comedy, but in the cartoon that didn't happen.
I always thought the youthfulness of Wheelie was cool, his friendship/bond with Daniel was good, and the fact that he was stuck in rhyme was a neat twist on a character.
Could all of that have been done better? Sure. That's one of the reasons I'd be excited about this book

Holy crap! I remember having that! Why did I ever get rid of all my cool stuff from when I was a kid?
Anyway, a wheelie spotlight doesn't sound so bad.

I know what you mean, but I'm getting hacked off with people dismissing things like that before it's even completed, let alone before they've read it.
Can't be Reflector – at least one of the components already appeared in Spotlight: Sixshot.

Wheelie's flashing a white power.
Love it.

Artwork is looking great, so I'm really stoked about this. Be interesting to see what 'Con trio gets revealed… My money's on Reflector, just because!

Hey, I'll be happy with the comic as long as Wheelie doesn't turn into this:

Well whatever they have in mind for Wheelie and future projects they will reveal them in time. As for the artwork, it is awesome as ever.

I've got that storybook. Wheelie as the jungle boy of Quintessa. His space ship crashed landed on Quintessa, and he had to survive on his own after his parents(?) died from the crash. Then later meets up with HotRod and his crew, and saves them from the Quintessons. Wheelie takes HotRod to the crashed spaceship, and after repairing it, they leave with Wheelie. The art was really good in it. And I don't think Wheelie rhymed when he talked in it.

Ah, what could've been…

Well, that storybook that had (one of) Wheelie's backstories had him wearing Sharkticon teeth
around his neck.
If that ain't hard, I don't know what is
Obvious Prime
Sure, but Spotlight: Sky Lynx better come before that.
Oh, and speaking of Sky Lynx, your sig kicks ass.

I find it ironic that the post you quoted directly followed mine, proving my point. Buuuuuuttt . . . everyone's entitled to their opinion . . .
He couldn't be much worse than the ones running right now anyways.
I might would vote for Wheelie

I'm waiting for Spotlight: Humans. I particularly want a Spotlight issue about 'O'.
Wheelie has a pretty interesting toy bio. I'd rather that be expanded on than anything to do with the awful animated version of him.

Spotlight: Star Saber?

Good to see you're going into this with an open mind.
IDW's take on TF's just gets better and I think this could be interesting.
Lupis Convoy
Hrm.. it would be interesting to see them explain the rhyming couplets like they say they will. I'll pick this up with earnest.
