Sage o' G-fruit:
Dead human/alien ally. All I'm sayin'. (Not really spoilers.)

Still, I'd like to pick that up in a TPB eventually. Very nice art.
Solrac333:
Sweet! I'm hearing Michael Bell as I read this. Cool art too.
kwickstrike:
do not want
Matterzero:
I think I'll have to pick this one up.
Chaosbringer:
He's in his War Within body
realCliffjumper:
I like it so far. "Autosmot" made me laugh. Ha ha ha.
Crumplezone:
Cliffjumper best start killing people FAST.
Coolhand:
"Autosmot." awwwwwwwww.....

Yeah, they'll be dead within ten pages.
Esquilax79:
Hey! It's Blink!

Why?

Also, if this ends in Cliffjumper learning a hard lesson in lovin and losing, I'm done with IDW's Transformers.

Solrac333, i believe spartan prime is referring to the fact that casey kasem voiced cliffjumper not michael bell.
deliciouspeter:
Look at that idiot...leaping off a bluff.
Ian7:
Awesome I can't wait for it. I'll probably get a copy for myself after I read my brother's ofcourse. Heh heh.
squawkbox74:

Or he's jumping off a cliff.

Apparently, IDW's being a bit too literal. Can't wait to see Sun Streaker!
Oracle_Aesir:
I liked the "it was magic" explanation
Darkspeed:
I'm interested... Cliffjumper was always such a one dimensional character, it would be nice to see him fleshed out a little. Been a while since I picked up any single issues, I might just break for this one.

That, and it is my birthday then so might as well splurge.
Moy:
Boo.
Riltht:
I'm gonna have to pick this up. Just to see if the little kid tries to shoot the gun...
Lo-Wan Bing:
Looks fun. I pick up all the 'Spotlights' once they hit TPB form, so I'll be getting to read this story for sure, looking forward to it.
Dinobot Nuva:
Looking forward to this.

So much for a "kid's franchise".
wheeljack01:
I'm diging it. I am just waiting on the "this better not be another the girl who loved powerglide"-like story comment..lol.
SMOG:
This looks alright... one of those stories where you know almost immediately what kind of story it's going to be, but if the details are handled well, I'm sold.

I like the first 5-pages because they're dialog-driven. The way that TFs would have to interact with other species has always fascinated me, so the way he responds to the questions can yield some interesting answers to how McCarthy is addressing some of those persistent canonical questions... such as the language issue. The "it's magic" answer was cute, but even better was his initial response... "I'm not."

On some level I think I'd be more interested in reading this story simply as a sci-fi piece about contact between TFs and another race, without any contrived and predictable tragedies, Decepticon interlopers, romantic entanglements and meditations on the way war destroys everything it touches. That's been done to death.

GAUGE0001:
I love the Art, and I really love the way Cliffjumper looks.

The white coloring makes him look not so hot-headed.

I'll be picking up all 3 covers for sure.
SmokescreenGT:
Looks interesting, but I'll wait for the TPB.
MECHADOOM:
This is shaping up to be exactly the story I was hoping for when I saw the cover, which is a good thing. I'll be picking this up.
ORIO:
Looks great! I'll pick it up in TPB form. Which sadly, won't be for awhile cuz the next spotlight trade isn't due until 9/29 (and I don't think cj is included in that one)

the story so far kinda reminded me of that old Matrix Quest story from the Marvel comics. The one with the old West vampire shape shifters and the triggerbots.
Aaron:
I got the chance to read the whole comic at BotCon and I really liked it. I'mma buy it.
Autobot Burnout:
Cool, looks like I might buy it when it comes out. I do like some of these Spotlights (although I've only got UM's and Sixshot's Spotlights)
DeceptiKreep:
Why do I have the feeling he falls in love with the girl, then loses her ... so wrong

Yes, me too. I usually wait for all Transformer series in TPB.
Just prefer them in that format, fell like I'm getting more for my $$.

I'm sorry but any one of those things may happen in the story.

Why does everyone have to take things so seriously?

Er, actually... any of the predictable cliches I mentioned above are perfectly "serious" topics... it's not a matter of taking things seriously. It's a matter of doing something fresh, interesting and different, rather than writing a story that we've seen all the angles for a gazillion times over.

Self-contained one-issues stories like Spotlights present certain challenges, since often there's a tendency to want to wrap everything up with a neat little bow at the end, and this often takes the form of using an easy, archetypal plotline that practically writes itself. When I first saw the cover art for this Spotlight a couple of months ago, I pretty much knew EXACTLY what the basic story was going to be, and it looks like I was correct. Doesn't exactly stimulate the imagination if you can feel bored by the plot after only seeing the cover image.

Of course, if the writing is sparkling, and there's great dialogue or some really clever ideas, that can save a tired old plotline. The writer just has to work harder.

JazzLuca:
There's a very very very need of stories like this for the Transformers, yes!! :-/

But.... it's Cliffjumper or just a wannabe red Bumblebee? -___-
DJW107PRIME:
Can't wait till he finds the Master Sword and Epona....Kidding, cool I like this it's diffrent which is neat kinda like Wheelie.
BB Shockwave:
This is... sooo boring. The whole plot seems to be a rehashed thing, and the storytelling is totally childish, like this was the guy's first comic. I mean, if you were a little girl living alone in the forest, would you approach an alien robot as if it was your best buddy? Compare this to Spotlight Wheelie, now THAT was realistic.

Also shows total lack of imagination on Musso's part that the 'alien' girl is pretty much a manga-styled human with elf ears. Boooring.

Bring on Spotlight Metroplex, I will not even bother to read this in scans.
M3Gr1ml0ck:
So, page 1 tells us that the purple mary sue dies in CJ's arms, because of the evil deed of the Decepticons seen in one of the covers.
Then, Bumblebee... I mean, the good-hearted Cliffjumper is so traumatized by the violence and everything that he turns into a sniper. No, wait. That's Perceptor. Cliffjumper is so traumatized that he makes a deal with Starscream, in order to have all the purple girls killed, so that this won't happen again. No, wait...

In fairness, McCarthy did say that Cliffjumper was his favourite Autobot character... so theoretically, that means he likes him as more than just a red Bumblebee, and will write him accordingly.

M3Gr1ml0ck:
Shouldn't Drift be his fave?
