Pipes maybe. I'd be sad, but he's not a dude I'm uber gay for. That position is filled by Ratchet, and if he dies, I will break something.

That cover is absolutely amazing.

And Drift was seen about to kill a perfectly healthy Pipes, so...

And way back on the, I believe issue #1 or #2, Milne cover Rodimus is shown grimacing angrily at some unseen opponent on a pile of dead bodies, so...

Moral of the story: Covers are bullshit.

Though it does seem like the covers hint at things that happen during the issue; most of those bodies were seen being carried by Magnus while Rodimus was with him, and Drift did attack pipes...

Still, they did say that Ratchet knew his time was up, so maybe, maybe not.

I doubt Ratchet bites it personally. He has to live long enough to train First Aid to be the new Chief Medical Officer right?

I think the character had a secret too

Ambulon was the secret holder.

Ambulon and Pharma were created to fill out the Autobot Medics.

At Pharma seems to have a bitchin' design, to counterpoint Ambulon's mundane design.

Ambulon appears to be a former Decepticon in the least, therefore would it truly be a shock to see Ambulon kill Pharma?

Then Fort Max rips off Ambulon's head then First Aid joins the Lost Light as Ratchet's apprentice.

yea its pretty much a given that whatever they show on a comic cover is not what actually happens inside the comic, so many covers i've seen in my life made it look like Spiderman is almost dead at the hands of so-and-so, or whatever, --- they just make the covers as dramatic as possible to sell the comic.

I think its a little early to kill Ratchet, but his disposition in this comic leaves a lot of foreshadowing for him playing martyr at some point.

I think a character dying would carry so much more weight if it wasn't advertised.

You could say he's had it since Animated and Prime. Both series have kinda shrunk the headcrest. And MTMTE's style has a hint of Prime to it (though only a hint).

Yes, I have an irrational reaction to Ratchet being harmed too, and while it's possible, I came to the same conclusion as you here.

The example that springs to my mind is the All Hail Megatron cover with said Decepticon, and Optimus Prime's head on a pike -effectively - or flagpole. While some may rationalise the cover you mentioned as something that happened 'off camera' but that says more about my need to catch up on the RiD and MTMTE comics. Were a casual fan to spend a little time reading up on a Transfrmers wiki, they'd ffigure out the AHM cover was, how would one put it? Symbolic? Fantastical? Anyway it wasn't in the story and there's a fair chance that's what is happening here.
