found this on comicbookresources.com view at your own risk, even viewing the actual article title or the thumbnails should be considered major spoilers. Transformers #1 3 Page Preview Darth Rodimus:
wow, only three...and why him and not someone most people wouldn't care about, god thats Hot Rod for you.
Nevermore:
So as AHM #16 implied, we've regressed from AHM #12's "Too much has happened for us to be friends" to Marvel-era "We're unable to tell good robots from bad robots, so let's start shooting the ones not fighting back, we'll worry about the ones who are actually attacking us later".
Fit For natalie:
The colouring is way too bright considering the story mentions it being "in the night".
Robogeek28:
I am SOOOOOO glad I dropped all TF titles months ago. SmokescreenGT:
Interesting. Poor Ironhide. Beastbot X:
...Him... of all 'bots to get downed in one shot, HIM? Come ON. I hope this is one of those false deaths where it turns out later he barely survived or something.
G1Wheeljack:
Wow, that's a pretty bold move by Costa, and to do it in the first 3 pages no less. I'm shocked yet intrigued what else is in store for us. Quote:

You wouldn't care if it was a nobody character dying, would you?
God.
Chrono Grimlock:
Wow. Way to not get me excited for an ongoing. Killing Ironhide, opening with Hot Rod and of course, the cold metallic faces of my nightmares.
I do have to thank IDW for helping me spend less though.
AniProwl:
Anybody but Red Guy! Nooo!
Opticron Primal:
I'm not happy, Bob......not happy.
The designs we saw in the poster I liked. Not quite movie style but also not quite G1 as well. I liked that. BUT, unless it has something to do with the movie universe, I don't like Bumblebee with door wings. You already have enough G1 bots with door wings, Bee doesn't need them, too.
Then there's the facial designs. I think they're way too detailed when compared to everything else. The humans look noticeably cartoony compared to the highly-detailed Autobots. They just don't meld together well, IMO.
And of course, you have Ironhide. Why? Why kill him off on page 2 of the first issue? Shock value? Was it really necessary? I hope he's brought back real soon, because if he isn't then I'm gonna be really annoyed. Mainly because he didn't do jack when he was alive for one page.
I'll still pick up the first issue to see how it goes and decide from there. But as of now...
I'm not happy, Bob........not happy.

actually these pages are from the end of the issue...which is really weird..
way to spoil the "reveal"
@__@
Maverick Hunter Christian:
Bold move, taking the knife to a season one bot in the opening volley. Bolder still if he actually stays dead. Still, I can't get too weepy for Ironhide, considering what a jerkhole he was for most of AHM.
The faces still chill me to my heart of hearts, but I am more than a little intrigued. Carry on, sirs.

OH NOES!!!!
Josh:
not the exact end but...yah..its the "twist" of the issue from what i gathered
eh
Opticron Primal:
Eh, we all saw it happen before in the '86 movie. No one's missing much.

The art in the poster are the same as the previews but yeah.....the designs on the last page of the preview, I couldn't tell if Rodimus' mouth was open or not, I had to look real hard at it like WTF? But yeah I'm not happy with the "death" either seeing he did nothing in this series so far. What was the point of changing his form if he was just going to die - issue 1?
But looking at the face designs from the storytelling POV. The humans see the TransFormers as ugly evil robots good or bad there all the same. But I do hope they change that up.
*Who did the coloring BTW?

It's no good; I've tried over and over again, but I just can't get excited about the IDW TF comics. They're just... not very good any more.
ILoveDinobot:
WOOT!! Roddy!!!
Kaymac:
The art style of this new series is... strange. I suppose I will get used to it if I read the comics or the TPB of them, but oh well. It is VERY movie-esque, but doesn't manipulate original designs too much. Perhaps this will be the aesthetic they use for Universe 3.0?
Ultrawave:
TBH...I love it. THe art style isnt movie, but isnt G1, rather more a peaceful fusion of the two. Win. I may track this down. Would love some toys of those designs too...
Storm:
they could have at least given him his face back.
Hot Rod just proved to us these faces can't emote as well as the "proper" designs.
Looks like I'll pass on this and go for the last stand of the wreckers instead.
Optimus8404:
Hot Rod lifting a tank???? I don't think so. I'm glad I haven't collected any TF comics in awhile and started writing and drawing my own story. I'll just say Hot Rod isn't as lucky as Ironhide is here...
tarZen:
Great, now every single giant robot has a human face wearing a helmet. And they're all the same face.
soymonk:
I kinda like the designs for the robots... but that's about it...
netkid:
This just further proves my theory that standing next to Hot Rod, no matter who you are or what continuity you're in will get you fucking killed.
mikeyfuzz:
This is not good....
vincheng2k5:
Movie-inspired gross designs. I love Don's artwork, but sorry. I'm out.
iconscons:
I don't get why they get Don to do the art, and then ask him to draw in this style (unless it was dons idea). His DW stuff was the best TF art ever. This is a little worse than the -ation series...which was weak. Too bad they didn't stick with AHM art, as it was solid in my opinion.

To put it simply: he was getting tired of drawing the characters the way that he had been, so decided to change it up a bit.
I'm cool with it. Go Don! TriBlurr:
yeah......I think I'm out on this series too.
Scantron:
I like this design style on the bodies and the faces work well in posters and covers...but they just aren't effective at conveying proper emotion in a scene. Keep the Movie-style for the bodies, but switch back to the smoother faces and it would look a lot better.
That said, I won't be picking this up. IDW's management of the G1 TF comic franchise has been a complete mess and I'm not wasting any more money on their stuff. Hopefully, Hasbro will wise up and give the license to someone else soon.
Greenspan:
I pre-ordered the 1st issue but seeing this is enough for me to leave it at that.
No amount of good storytelling will convince me to pay for this type of rendering. I don't like the G1-to-Bayformers quasi-transition, but then again I don't like Bayformers designs either. The faces are unbearable.
If you're gonna do G1 then do it G1 style.
DW's TF G1 ongoing they had started was superior imo, the art was superb and it felt like G1.
Godspeed

Scaleface:
Wow, that art style is REALLY bad.
theestampede:
I'm so glad I decided to skip out on this series. those faces are disgusting
myhobby:
well, if there was a way for ironhide to die, it would be laying his life down for his friends, fellow soldiers, or the future prime.
i'd like toys in these designs, bumblebee no longer stares into your soul.
SPLIT LIP:
UGH.
These "humans are far too stupid a race to notice CLEAR AS FUCKING DAY that the car robots are the good guys" is old as hell, not to mention stupid.

I'm not happy, Bob........not happy. | I agree. I don't like this "movie esque" design they have going. Why do all these people feel like they have to go and change everything? I like them more human looking it helps you connect to the characters easier. Now they just look like machines.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
defstar:
I would love to get into a great Transformers comic book...one with a good storyline and artwork...this one so far looks like crap...
Guess I'll continue to wait...
Valkysas:
looks like shit. seriously. the faces are just awful.
Well, looks like I'm done with IDW. Wish I could say it's been fun, but... it hasn't been since infiltration ended.
I know Don said it was his choice, but I don't believe it. I think it's an request from hasbro, and Don is just saying it was his idea in hopes that people would be more accepting of it.
either way, it looks awful, and I won't be supporting anyone who decides to take part in it's creation.

Though I will agre with people about Rodimus' face..it was only on a double take that I found his mouth. Darken the inside plz.

Nothing could be further from the truth. | You're right. The fan community has very little impact on Hasbro way of doing business. They might, from time to time, accommodate fans by importing a Takara-Tomy toy, or do homages with naming and coloring a certain mold, but overall the fan community is not their targeted audience.
I'm fairly confident that Hasbro is pleased with IDW as their comic licensee for two of their most profitable IP's. It all comes down to nickels and dimes. If IDW pays royalties to Hasbro, and in time, then the way faces are done in a comic is pretty low in terms of care factor.
Simply put : is the way the faces are done going to affect sales so much that Hasbro will notice ? Keep in mind that Hasbro's licensor manager has already approved these new designs.
Regardless of my own dislike of the art direction, I'm sure IDW will do whatever they feel to insure revenue objectives are met.
Godspeed

Fosterlager:
Gah. No sale.
Lucs:
I gotta say this art style/direction is very very disappointing to see. I've always enjoyed the somewhat good stories from IDW and the different bot/alt modes were fine with me too but what I see on those 3 pages in my opinion is not appealling. I can only dig the movie style on the big screen and even then I don't like it very much. Don't like a lot of the toys and I don't buy a lot of their toys, which needless to say means I won't be buying much of the comics.
