Costa in the course of the article talks about the reasoning for starting a long overdue ongoing series (in this editor's opinion), as well as some of the thought processes that led to the three years later setting. He also confirms that the story focus will be on a core group of main characters, but with the vast breadth of Transformers out there, others will be introduced and focused on in time. Check out the full article by clicking on the link above, and also be sure to check out the interior artwork also posted as a part of the article!

USA Today has posted an interview with Andy Schmidt, the author and editor of the upcoming Transformers Continuum one-shot from IDW Publishing. The one shot will act as a third person, almost history book style, recap of the major events in the IDW Transformers saga up until this point, making it the perfect jumping on point for fans who have not been following IDW's classic series Transformers books. There's also a few surprises promised for fans who have been following the series from the beginning. Check out the full interview by clicking on the link above.
The interview also comes complete with a quartet of revised designs by Don Figueroa. These designs show off the new style Don has applied to Optimus Prime, Jetfire, Ironhide and Bumblebee, mixing in a healthy portion of Movie universe "real world" aesthetics with the classic designs we know and love.

San Diego, CA (September 15, 2009) – Following the huge success of this summer’s blockbuster TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN movie, from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, IDW Publishing is proud to launch The TRANSFORMERS, under license from Hasbro and written by the critically-acclaimed Mike Costa. This all-new ongoing series starts off with a bang by treating fans to two huge events that are so CYBERTON-shattering that the lives of the TRANSFORMERS characters will never be the same.
“We’ve pulled out all the stops for our first ongoing TRANSFORMERS series and now is a great time for the new series,” said IDW’s TRANSFORMERS editor, Andy Schmidt. “Since TRANSFORMERS #1 is the beginning of a whole new journey for TRANSFORMERS comics, it’s the perfect opportunity for new readers to get into the brand.”
Helmed by Mike Costa (G.I.JOE: COBRA) with art and covers by returning, fan-favorite artistic dynamo Don Figueroa, The TRANSFORMERS will debut in November. To help TRANSFORMERS fans rejoin the world of comics, IDW is also releasing TRANSFORMERS: Continuum, written by Schmidt himself. This special 32-page, ad-free book runs through all the fun and excitement of the last five years worth of stories that paved the way for the new journey to begin. TRANSFORMERS: Continuum will also be available in November. The TRANSFORMERS #1 will be available in stores in November. Diamond order codes #SEP09 0852.

Chris Ryall has updated his blog, Ryalltime, with a first look at two panels of interior artwork for Transformers: The Last Stand of the Wreckers #1, in addition to the alternate cover by Trevor Hutchison. The alternate cover borrows a few cues from your classic Wild West showdown. The panels, on the other hand, show off a part of a battle sequence, and a tantalizing hint that Overlord, one of the big villains from the Japanese Masterforce series, might be making his first US print appearance!
