Transformers Classics Ultra Magnus Upgrade Set

$50, really? I'd be very impressed to see a fanmade garage kit go for that little.
If it is $50 then I want one, I don't have classics Magnus but I can soon get one. I'd buy Primes Apex armour too if that's really on the cards.

From that pic, it doesn't look anything special. But that's all blurry, so I can't really say. If it's affordable(not $100+ like that Cliffjumper set was), then I will buy it.

I totally want this! I like my Classics Magnus, but he totally needs to bulk up.

I'm not saying that he, or any of the other Animated figures, fit in with the other TF's (specifically the new Universe line), just that he counts towards the "If it's in Animated, and would look anything like it's potential Universe counterpart, than the Universe line won't be getting that character for a while" rule. Prowl is the one exception to this that we know of, as his Animated and Universe counterparts look nothing alike.

It'd be nice if this set was affordable, let alone a MP-2 armor set . . .

Sure, I'd love to have something like this (and the CJ set), but I'd kinda like to have something to eat and make sure our bills are paid for the month this thing comes out . . .

Thats just not worth it to me. Cliffjumper upgrade $107.50 for a head, guns and ground effects??? and its not even over yet. Oh well I like what I have just fine.

I have to inquire after reading that whole thread that you posted, have you talked to your retailer about these and what updated info did you get from him, and if you don't mind, how much are you paying for these things? I of course don't want to get you in trouble with anyone. Thanks for any info you can give.

Those of us that got a sneak peek(I saw it back in december), were just asked not to mention who was behind it, and were not allowed to get copies of the pictures. But some people don't seem to care about keeping some details on the down low.

I was shown the pictures, both in trailer mode, and combined on Classics UltraMagnus and Optimus. The trailer looked like a armoured tanker. Not sure how to explain it, but it looked awesome being towed by Magnus in truck mode. No colored prototypes have been shown as far I know. The same person that designed Cliffjumper's mod, is behind this. There is suppose to be alot more of these produced than cliffjumper's mod, thats why I said before it will be easier to get. I was told the trailer/armour will go for around $50. This could change, but thats the ballpark we can expect. The store was selling the Cliffjumper mod for $30, but they only got 6 of them, and their all gone/spoken for. So $50 is not bad.

The armour fits snuggly on the Prime/Magnus mold. And, he comes with a kickass gun! When I saw the proto pics, I pre-ordered 2 right away. Colors for the trailer/armour are suppose to match up with the exact shade Ultra magnus has. What I mean is the blue and white will look the same. Expected release was sometime during spring. If I get some new info, I'll share what I'm allowed to, but I must respect the store at the same time.

I really want this but I'm sure Hasbro will do something similar by re-releasing Prime and Magnus as Ultras and giving them trailers [I hope]
My only gripe is that there is too much white, the normal mode resembles G1 Magnus's main body mode and the armour should show his armour looking like the G1 counterpart

I wonder how it will be towed around, given the Classics Prime/Magnus mold has no fifth wheel (hitch) for a traditional peg type connection. Perhaps it clamps securely onto the truck cab and becomes one long truck, like RID Ultra Magnus?

I have noticed a few connection points.
legs - on the inside of the legs there are a few pegs that are used to clamp the legs together in truck mode.
arms - on the top of the arm there is two pegs that go in.
the main body could clip onto the body

thats about it but I can't wait to see how this turns out

i highly doubt this picture has the final product in it. Venksta has also mentioned the plans call for the blue and white to match up with Classics Magnus' [there may be some red too, i hope].

Around $50 huh? I just may decide to get one after all depending on how my funds are at the time.

Wow, thanks again. Strange that these folks would be so secretive. With a product so potentially awesome as this, I really don't understand the whole keeping it to a select few people. I guess we'll all get a chance to see it eventually, and it's good to know that we haven't seen paints yet, I would hate for it to simply be white and blue.

I don't understand what all the secrecy is about. Do you work for the store? What makes they think they can tell you what you're allowed and not allowed to show? Besides, I fail to see why a hobby shop will have photos of the trailer in the first place and not be allowed to show them. Frankly, I'm starting to wonder if miasboytoy and Venkesta are bullshitting us. If you have anything at all to back up your statements, I'm waiting to see it. Otherwise, I call foul.

Trust me they ain't bullshitting you man and no they do not work for the store. miasboytoy told me as soon as he left the hobby shop, he practically begged the guy for pics. The owner would not give them up. Constructicon BC and Pascal (cybertron.ca) also got to see the pics of these upgrade kits... you going to call their bluff also?

I agree, this whole thing is ridiculous. If you're not supposed to talk about it, why come out and say "ooh I have information but I can't share," if not for the attention.

Yup, there will be red, its suppose to have the original magnus colors. I just mentioned the white and blue since their the only same colors on the released Classics Ultra Magnus.


I've shared all the details that I have been told, minus some minor ones which are not important, or reveal anything about the figure itself. This is due to respect to the store and the owner, who is a great guy. I have nothing to gain from this Ultra Magnus addon kit, just sharing what I know. My main reason for sharing the info was due to the quick negative look at this. People were expecting it to be hard to find, and way to expensive. Since I knew about the pricing and availability, I wanted to share so people will stay interested in this piece, which if successful, we'll get some other kits like this later on.

Miasboytoy posted about this amour on December 8th, 2007, over at Cybertron.ca. Him, along with some other people posted about what they saw. So check out his post if you think only the two of us are making this up, since theres quite a few of us who have been shown the Ultra Magnus amour/trailer pictures.

Completely different Transformers Club. The American one is official and it has nothing to do with this.

The chinese site is just a fan-run website called TF Club. This Magnus armour has nothing to do with official Transformers merchandise.

Detachable trailers like primes are gone, if they did another rendition of magnus like his titanium self, or nodded closer to his animated self, where the trailer and armor is integrated into the transformation as one piece, it'll happen. But trailers like primes from most series are done, as they are not cost effective.


Edit: As for cliffy and this being expensive... Well that's what happens when you fight over them on ebay, not when you order straight from the source or elsewhere. I can still get Cliffy's kit for 30usd.
