Toy Hobby Market Announces Transformers Henkei Exclusive Seeker

I would love a Sunstorm but like a lot of people I will buy WHATEVER one it is. I think the Classics Starscream mold is easily one of the best TF molds from ANY line. It is awesome.

I'm gonna guess it's Sunstorm, otherwise it wouldnt be "Henkei Exclusive;" all the others have been done elsewhere. (yes, I realize I could be reading too much into that)

Hoping for Thundercracker or Sunstorm, but I'll buy it whoever it is as long as it's not too expensive.

A few more details, thanks to a translation I received.

It's a Toy Hobby Market exclusive that will be available at Ganbo stores. The additional announcement in May will be from Ganbo and the Japanese toy hobby magazines.

Toy Hobby Market is an online shop directly run by TakaraTomy, while eHobby belongs to the same company group it is still a separate operation.

Because Toy Hobby Market always sell at RRP, it's not really a popular place to shop for Japanese TF fans (I assume, because you can get a few hundred yen off at amazon jp or TRU jp online). They also don't have exclusives often. AFAIK they had some super expensive TF clothes, floating action pen and most recently FAB Frenzy was the shop exclusive.

According to the article, the item is their and Ganbo Hyakkaten ( http://www.ganbo-store.com/news/article_1501_34.jsp) exclusive. They are both online only, but I am sure BBTS and others will get a hold of some.

Keep in mind that the Henkei figures have demonstrated a tendency toward greater "cartoon accuracy" than the original Classics figures (at least in some respects). See their version of Classics Starscream vs. ours, for example. If they do Skywarp, it would probably be rather different than our version. However, if they tried to Thundercracker, it probably wouldn't be all that different from the BotCon version. Given the known agreements FP has made with Hasbro, there's probably some pressure on TakaraTomy not to do something so similar. And, given that they can do a version of Skywarp that's unique enough in itself to sell not only to their market, but to ours, I just can't see that much incentive to do a figure like Thundercracker that would anger their partners....

I am hoping for those too, but any Thundercracker will do...even the darker colored blue one.

It'd be hilarious if it was Thundercracker, just to watch the fandom spontaneously combust just trying to wrap their minds around that reality.

Barring that, I'm thinking something silly like Ghost Starscream, but hoping for a distinct Seeker. Sunstorm would be okay, I guess, but a new generic design from the show would be awesome, and fit in with the notion of those clones mentioned in... some manga. SydneyY or somebody in Japan brought that up a while ago.

Excellent, thanks for the very thorough answer, SydneyY. I hadn't heard of them before now. But that's good to know. Sounds like the exclusive will be relatively available, though of course at a premium.

As for who I hope it will be.... eh, I'd really be fine with anything that hasn't been available previously in some form. Sunstorm, Ghost Starscream, Black Starscream, Generic Seeker... those all sound great to me.

Skywarp & Thundercracker, even though I have them, could use the Henkei treatment with more accurate details and some chrome tidbits. That way one can stay MIB or in alt. mode.

No. Obscure would be a new version of the Japanese G1 toy Moon Jet. Sunstorm is pretty much a secondary character these days, hardly obscure at all.

Wouldn't it be sweet, for Takara mainly, if the exclusives were all 5 of those clone seekers mentioned in their manga but they were packaged in those boxes you can't see in like say the WST figs, so you don't know what you're getting? People would have to buy whole cases to be sure they got all 5 and the inevitable bonus seeker which would be say Ghost Starscream or Sunstorm or both

Is it true that Takara has no legal bindings with Botcon, so technically Heinkei could make all the Botcon seekers if they wanted?

Beyond the relative nature of 'obscure' though.... This is Takara/Tomy/Japan. I think Sunstorm is still fairly obscure THERE. They got a Sunstorm repaint of the G1 mold FIVE years ago and NOTHING since then. In America, yes we've gotten the Dreamwave story, the HOC, the Universe repaint, the LOC, the minicon, the Titanium, and Movie Divebomb has a psuedo-Sunstorm bio. But in Japan Sunstorm still qualifies at some level of obscurity.

Here are all the seekers that should be made before Thundercracker.

1. Sunstorm
2. Ghost Starscream
3. Black Starscream
4. Seeker Clone (Purple Dude)
5. The bright Yellow Seeker (not the sunstorm one)
6. The bright Green Seeker
7. Action Master Thundercracker

Any and all of those would be more fun for an exclusive. And Botcon is an international draw... It is not like TF fans from japan have been sitting in a hole denied classic seekers. I am sure those who wanted it either attended the convention or eBayed them. let's move forward and make new repaints and not an attempt at existing crap.

I'll only definitely get it if it's Sunstorm. If it's an obscure G1 character or a cameo it would depend on the price and coolness. If it's one of the six standards or ghost or black Starscream I'll pass.

My hopes are (in order of wanting): Sunstorm, Darkwing (my Dreadwind is lonely...), Action Master Thundercracker, seeker in Constructicon colors, one of the Aerialbots, one of the G1 triple-changers/six-changers (Blitzwing, Octane, and Sixshot I'd like to see), seeker with a ridiculously girly color scheme (pastel purple would rule), black Starscream TFTM Big Daddy style: black, chrome, and flames, oh my...

Here's some completely off the wall guesses: Optimal Optimus, that Shattered Glass TFCC Astrotrain we saw in the April Fools comic (or any Shattered Glass character), an Armada seeker, glow-in-the-dark ghost Starscream (that'd be pretty cool, actually), pre-BW Terrorsaur, TFTM Divebomb (radioactive green camo, w00t!), that exclusive red repaint of movie Starscream, Cybertron Sideways/Noisemaze, Coronation Starscream, Universe Ramjet, Nemesis Jetfire, Powerglide, some GoBot or Micron nobody remembers the name of, Energon Megatron/Galvatron... Who knows?

And what's the deal with everyone whining about BotCon Thundercracker? I've been trying to sell one MISBag w/ instructions and bio card for months at half of what I paid for him, and no nibbles... I just had my wallet stolen, I need money, I'll go down to a 2 digit price, somebody please buy this thing!

Hasbro made Skywarp in touch with his feminine side The purple is a bit much but I can live with it... sometimes.

I thought the general rule was that at least some fans were going to be pissed no matter what...isn't that the norm ? If there was ever a piece that EVERYONE liked, was readily available, and we all agreed the price was good the Internet would just break!

Well If I can get around to it I have testors model master paint that matches the original purple, I just need time to paint it. that bright purpink has got to go...

I to would like a Ghost Screamer, But Henkei will follow the wave 1 release Hasbro did which means Magnus will be the next exclusive, and possibly a slightly repainted E. Devastator as not to clash with the Walmart exclusive version unless Walmart Japan releases the Classics version for the Henkei line.
