why would back-out of buying one of these babys!? thats just maddness!
SCPrime:
Yeah, I much prefer to preorder from BBTS for 2 reason. 1. they don't charge until they receive the items (tfsource charges up front). 2. BBTS allows you to cancel a preorder up until they ship the item (you can't cancel from TFSource once you place the preorder). I sometimes order from TFSource because they are generally cheaper than BBTS. In this case though, same price. Might even be cheaper from BBTS if you factor in shipping.

I've learned a long time ago that things can change drastically from grey/white resin prototypes to the finished colored product, for better or worse dependent on the figure. Add to that, I'm not liking the almost tricky angles the alt mode is being shown at in all of these pics. I want some close-up & profile pics, not meticulously angled distant shots.
Believe me, I hope this thing turns out to be worth every penny and every bit of hype we're giving it, but I'm not going to be stupid about it. At least with BBTS, I have the *option* of backing out if I need to. This is the ONE time that they're actually a better bet than the other online sellers imo.

I got it, opened it, and then noticed it was missing one of the side mirrors. I e-mailed them explaning the problem, not thier fault of course, but they were very friendly, didn't ask any questions, just told me to send it back, and they sent me a replacement.
That's just one example. Their Customer Service in my experience has been excellent and always friendly. They have even paid me quite a bit more for items that I have sold to them, than I could sell directly at toy shows, or on message boards. So I'm happy to support their business.
To sum it up, yes I agree, I think store loyalty has much to do with were people choose to make their purchases.
Aaron:
I may have just pre-ordered one...
My wallet weeps.

The City Commander armour set isn't as limited as previously thought:
From BBTS: Quote: |
The edition size is currently unknown, we previously reported that the edition size would be 2000 pieces, but that number is incorrect - we had a miscommunication with the manufacturer.

From BBTS: | Digital-Toys.com is in talks with them to get more sets for sale. I know the number but cant say untill it a definate deal.
QuinJester:
BBTS has been really good to me in the past with customer service, plus not having to pay up front lets me cancel if A) money gets tight or B) I change my mind and decide it's not for me once I see the final. The whole "not paying up front" thing is a big one for me. Not going to have another WST dinobots preorder situation.

hopefully higher supply would lower the prices. but i doubt it. seeing that the supposed 2000 units allocated for North America is almost all gone, it just bolsters their confidence that demand is rather high for this piece.
besides i think they are going to release world wide at the same time. limiting supplies on launch would encourage reselling on ebay. this set could easily sell for over a twice as much on ebay if supply is truly limited. unless they've made so much money on the CJ set that they can afford to risk producing more than 4K, i think the most they would produce is 3K.
limited supply or not, im getting one to keep and another one bound for ebay.

limited supply or not, im getting one to keep and another one bound for ebay. | This piece was designed for foreign markets, IE North American, in mind IIRC. I doubt it's going to be released anywhere else, it'll be our CJ set. Anyway, I've pre-ordered two as well.
icefox:
So what shows up today on the most watch list on ebay today, but ultra magnus (not even MISB, but opened!): http://pulse.ebay.com/Transformers_W0QQsacatZ2479
hahahah Did some of us (or dare I say hundreds of us) order the $76 trailer before owning the $12 toy? No doubt some people have this toy on their minds and will bid up the average price of him over the next few week before things return to a sane level and some new toy gets the attention of fans, but until then, now is the time to sell your ultra magnus.
From the trailer photos it looks like if you put prime in the trailer he doesn't look that bad because of being all covered over.
