Rodimus Major:
Between this, Guardian Robot, and Encore Metroplex, July is going to be an expensive month. Hopefully I can afford these by then and don't have to cancel any.
protostar8:
Can't wait to see how people complain when these start showing up as recasts after paying full price for theirs...And that's when I'll pick up a recast b/c $75+ is just too damn much for an accessory to a $10 toy.
Tekkaman Blade:
It's 75 dollars because it's A) transformable, b) articulate, c) it's going to be painted. Also it's not like cliffjumper, It won't be as easy to recast.
Quantum_Penguin:
I'd love to finally have an armor set for Magnus, and $76 plus shipping is a steal considering that it's fan made. But then again I can get an Animated Ultra Magnus and Leader Megatron, including all the bells and whistles and Magnus' bodacious "Hammer of Electrical Smackdown", for about 4 dollars more. If I was rich I would buy the armor, but Leader Magnus will be adorning my shelf and I'll just pretend that Classics Magnus leaps out of him.

Or some-such.
lookinglasself:
That price is lower than I expected. Preordered!
Anti Spark:
I don't want to miss out Preordered also!
hXcpunk23:
I preordered this a few hours ago--can't wait for it to be released and arrive!
Synthetic Breed:
Ordered it as soon as it went up! I'm sure it wills ell out soon since there's only 2000 made.
ORIO:
Where's Venksta??

I wanna hear him chip in on this. He said a lot of peeps were gonna be happy with the price, and that's awesome.

This has been the most exciting TF weekend EVER. All the classics announcements and now this. I'm just overwhelmed and can't wait to add to my classics shelf!
GavynN.X.:
Put my preorder in as well...can't wait for painted pics!

I guess Titanium Ultra Magnus is a cheaper alternative, but I had no luck finding that one...and that wasn't the definitive Ultra Magus either..
SCPrime:
Preordered mine too. Guys, if you are on the fence about it, just remember that BBTS has a history of INCREASING the price once they reach a certain number preordered, and INCREASE it futher once another number preordered is reached. Remember the coronation set? It started out as $15, then $20, now currently at $25. I guess you can wait to see how much other online retailers would have him for.
JOHNDILLINGA:
Pre-Ordered, Although I won't use the head from the set as I like the Myclone one that's on mine.
Bryan:
Yeah, SOLD.

Same here, man. I guess I'll wait and see how the painted version looks, but I have the MyClone Magnus head on my Classics Ultra Magnus custom that I can easily use instead.
Railguard:
It looks cool enough but I have to save my money for the universe toys this august.
iron maniac:
Pre-ordered.

Just ordered mine, now I gotta go buy another Cl Magnus cuz I sold mine and painted the other into N. Prime.

I agree that the head doesn't look perfect I'll have to wait and see it painted before I decide to keep it or not
Bumble Prime:
Damn it.................

My wallet weeps, but my shelves rejoice........... such is the collectors burden
saberconvoy:
I could think of great repaints but way to expensive.
Synthetic Breed:
At least they won't take the money until September. plenty of time to earn 80.00 usd.
Mr.Roboto:
Guys, stop ordering!!! I will have plenty for $200 when they are release!!
DJW107PRIME:
Got IT!
Anti Spark:
I wonder how many are left now!?
GreenScream:
This is an easy pass. Sometimes I think Transformer fans will buy just about anything regardless of the cost.
DJW107PRIME:
Any Chance BBTS will get some Cliffjumpers remade to go with the Armor of badassery?

Last I talked to the boss, around $75 is what I heard him say they would be expecting the final cost at. Haven't talked with him in over a week, due to him going to botcon, and I being out of country. You guys should expect other online stores to start taking preorders very soon.

Some guys complained about the makers backing out of the set price for the Cliffjumper set. The SRP was always $30. The people who were selling them are not the makers. So basically, the sellers started taking adavantage of the demand.

Very big gun.
grayman:
Does anyone know why they limit these to such small quantities? If they made more, they would sell for less and the makers would make more money. It's basic economy. I'm just curious, not complaining.
Soundwave2:
pre-ordered. Now to find a classics Magnus. Anybody got one for sale?
r'Ne:
Pre-ordered just to be safe but it's much more then I expected. If I can find it cheaper elsewhere, I cancel the order..

Fort Max:
Cheers dude but I never heard of them before, can anyone vouch for them?
Dolza_Khyron:
well for the same price *according to google's conversion* you could also buy the prime/magnus 2 pack as well.

which i believe ARE official transformers, aren't they?

although i really would like skywarp, lol bbts is sold out, so unless tfsource gets these AND the sky/ultra 2pack i'll probably just go with the prime/magnus 2 pack lol

he still needs his original g1 gun, too bad he can't hold it with the right side though lol *tried it with my prime*
defstar:
Count me in...just pre-ordered my kit...

The price is a little high but I'm glad it wasn't over $100...
Trailbreaker77:
Skipping this I will use the money towards another MP Skywarp.
Banshee:
So bought.

I don't understand the outrage towards the price of this specific item.

So if Toys R' Us offered an official trailer to accompany Magnus and asked $75 for the trailer and only $10 for the figure, how many people would shell out that much "happily" with no complaints about the price? The trailer costs 750% more than the toy it goes with. I just see a problem with that. Also, I thought it was over-priced at $50, but $75 is kinda ridiculous for what you get. It's an easy pass for me b/c that same amount of money will buy pretty much wave 1 of Classics 2.0 + maybe a little more, so I get more bang for my buck.

Except that Toys R us isn't carrying a fan-made toy. The costs of production are significantly different between the two.
Dragonclaw:
In all honesty, if TRU was carrying a trailer like this that was limitted to just 2000 the price probably would be $80+...think about the price of the reissues...and most of their "regular" prices...
WhiteMocha:
Gah, what the heck.... pre-ordered. I'm still not 100% sold on the look of this thing, but I have a feeling its price is only going to climb after it sells out. I'd hate to fall in love with it later, end up paying triple or quadruple this, and thinking back wistfully to when I could have had it for 80 bucks...
e3nine:
I just had to pre-order this. With the 2000 pieces, I'm not going to screw around and wait.

Does anyone know the history on the TFClub's Cliffjumper upgrade kit? (production numbers, MSRP, etc?) I see that the last one sold for $140 + shipping on eBay. I have a feeling that the UM kit will follow suit. : \

The "limited to 2000" pieces is only b/c they are choosing to limit it to that. Again, the cost of it doesn't justify buying it over roughly 5 other toys for the same amount of money IMO.

I'm not a 100% sure but I think they ended up doing another production run on the Cliffjumper. But the kits were originally $30 then I think they upped them to $50. Anything over that were people marking up the price.
Thundershot:
Here's the thing: The one I have IS from the second production run, and the individual numbering on it is UNDER 300. So they apparently had planned on having only 300, but didn't make 'em all at once.

Chris
Acidophilus:
Looks like they just put up a couple of new photos on the page that I haven't seen before. The "color" one shows the weather vane gun connecting to the back of the right shoulder of the armor, and the smokestack gun on the left. Also better shots of the trailer mode.

In all honesty this is a niche piece that probably wouldn't do nearly as well in the mass market, so the production run is probably in the right ballpark, and it's all engineered in-house....so it's not like they are just copying someone elses mold (and even the bootleggers that do charge as much as this guy is at) The price is pretty good considering what I've seen non-transforming garage kits go for...those can run in the $300-$500 range easily.

Hopefully it sells out and sells out FAST, ending up on Ebay going for hunderds and hundreds of dollars! NOT because I want mine to be worth more, but because if, and only if, Hasbro sees a rabid demand for something allong these lines will they be able to justify an official Ultra Magnus with his full armor NEXT TIME they feel like doing an UM figure

The exact reason why I pre-ordered...
