Hahahahah... SWERVE! Guess retailers just assumed it was Animated Rodimus and Prime. For Japan this is actually pretty good, I dont think they ever got that deluxe Prime mold, did they?

This is something separate from the "crystal" Animated Optimus and Rodimus; we have seen pictures from Japanese magazines of those molds in "crystal" deco.
I think I'll try and get this set, as I would prefer "crystal" versions of Classics Optimus and Rodimus.

Yeah, there's clearly some confusion going on here. This is not the same thing as the set solicited for release in the Animated line. This is:

Sons of Cybertron is something entirely separate and new, obviously. Really stayed under the radar, just like the black-box Universe Special Editions.

Oh God, this is gonna cause me a headache figuring out how it will fit into toylines on the wiki. But at least we know what that clear Convoy/Rodimus pack is now.
EDIT: I wonder if Takara means "Sons of Cybertron" as in the planet Cybertron (as spelled in english fiction, and occasionally Japanese packaging) or as in Cybertron, the Japanese name for the Autobots until recently.

Hot diggity. I am guessing this is going to be way expensive as it seems from the first post that this is some sort of prize.

I'm puzzled why they chose to make a set that would include that crappy deluxe Optimus Prime. Rodimus is great, but surely they could've chosen to pair him up with a figure more deserving of the crystal treatment.

^ I was just about to say, "haven't we seen pictures of the Animated SoC set already?" So there is 2 sets. 1 Classics and 1 Animated. But I don't get it. Are these exclusives, or Lucky Draws, or something?
Personally, I don't really care for this set. I think I'd rather have the Animated ones. But I would like a Henkei Rodimus.

This is part of the 2010 campaign items.
It comes with the campaign points that you need to collect in order to exchange (+ cash) to get something big at the end of the campaign.
EDIT: Actually I wonder if it is the grand prize for the campaign itself. It doesn't have the barcode that comes with regular boxes and according to the words from the 2nd picture they seemed to be a limited release version of the 2 most wanted figures from the Henkei toy line.

It's beautiful! They're awesome looking toys and the packaging is simply the best way to display them both. It really brings out the crystal goodness of the set.

But does this mean there are 2 sets coming out? (If so how do I order both?)
OR, perhaps plans changed and this is what will be released instead of the animated molds. Anybody have any information about both sets being released? Maybe the 'classic' molds version is just for this event in the Phillipines?

Guys, this is ABSOLUTELY NOT the same thing as the Animated Crystal Sons of Cybertron Set.
Edit: This may (or not, hopefully) be a rare exclusive prize item. If it is, GOOD LUCK getting one, unless someone throws one up on ebay for thousands. It's a shame, because I would buy this set in a freaking heartbeat. It's gorgeous.
But now that I've read a little more into this, I also see Alternity Magnus is one of the prizes, so maybe this thing could see a wide(r) release after all. Either way, there was too much confusion in this thread over the Animated set.

Of course it's not the same. It's obviously different molds. But you're making a big assumption that it's ONLY available as a prize here. We may not know differently, but it's not confirmed your way either.

This sounds like some supplier will have 3 pieces for the raffle. To me, sounding like there is some larger production run and they'll be available from some other avenue. How limited that is... who knows...

@ Edgewise - yes, I'm also firstpredacon on the Allspark forums. The Sons of Cybertron set is not going to be mass released in the Philippines. I believe the distributor was able to obtain 3 pieces for the raffle. Similarly, Alternity Ultramagnus is not a mass release item either and only 3 will be raffled off.
I do suspect that Alternity Ultramagnus might be released locally in Singapore. We have had instances wherein Japan store exclusives come out in Takashimaya here (e.g. Henkei Dark Skyfire).

Oh, thankgod..for a moment I thought this was coming at the cost of the Animated set. They're both 'crystal', and this set is definitely all kinds of cool, but I'd rather have the Animated one (which I preordered).
