Shadow Commander Armor to have Interchangeable Faces head
TFW member Venksta has revealed some more information about previous news of the remolded head for Fan's Project Shadow Commander armor. He confirmed that the armor will come with two swappable faces, the original mouth face and the new remolded faceplate.

Hmm I never liked Nemesis Prime... the evil twin concept is just too used.

However I'd be SOOOO glad to se it as O.Primes trailer because then you finally could get a Classics POWER MASTER Optimus Prime
unicronsupreme:
Not only is it half the run, but apparently it's also better plastic, better construction, better screws and better joints. I'm down for that plus a sword.
Razerwire:
Preordered!

My SDCC Nemesis Prime, which I lazily renamed Motor Master will now have his trailer.

BTW, I lazily renamed Shattered Glass Prime to Nemesis Prime.

Yeah, I'm not sure I would've ordered it if it weren't for the extra sword, but the whole presentation is just so badass, plus I have a black/nemesis collection, so it's right up my ally anyway.

Really? I'm curious as to how they plan to improve on perfection!
antapp:
Love the figure, but cannot justify spending so much on a repaint of a character that doesn't exist! Really sweet though!

I'm with you...I to am a Nemesis Prime/Black Convoy collector. This will go great with my collection

PREORDERD !!!
Deonasis:
One picture shows the translucent sword while the other shows a black sword.

They better not be shipping with the black sword.

that's cool looking...i cant afford it right now, got other things i gotta buy, but maybe someday if its still available...but most likely not...glad people who like it can actually get it...and i bet they do a diaclone limited set soon too...

btw, i'm selling a loose classics ultra magnus...pm me offers...
SureShot90:
What's the fuzz about the sword ? it's just translucent... and it's pink !. You can get much cooler swords from some Gundam's and arm Nemesis with one of those
cheetorBWORG:
I'm waiting for the eventual release of the Prime Commander. Classics Prime looks cool, but nowhere near GFPrime in my books... <3

Im sorry, but how can they justify the high price point? The price of the UM ugrade set was understandable, they made new molds and its supposed limited run. I get it they didn't make a lot of money from the UM set. (i must say the UM set is well worth the money i spent)

But why should the nemmy ugrade set be more expensive? I should be at least $20 cheaper. If the price point for the UM set was based on them atleast breaking even with a small profit margin, then this new nemmy set is almost all profit. Remember not a new mold, just different color plastic.

And please, im not bashing fans project so dont get your panties in a bunch. Im just asking a question that I think is valid. Why the higher price point?
Tenraisenpuujin:
Holy crap, it looks beautiful! I can finally stop trying to find a reasonably priced Classics Ultra Magnus to go with the City Commander set! I'm more of a fan of black anyway. =D

Preordered, along with the silver Alternity Convoy.

Oh, I wasn't really refering to anyone in general. Just really voicing my own thoughts on it. I mean, I kind of had the same feelings at first (about it being a little higher cost0 and then I read the part about it having half the production run and being made from apparently better plastic and having slightly improved construction... yeah, more or less just voicing my own thoughts.
G1Wheeljack:
So awesome, I was really hoping they wouldn't do this because there's no way I can justify spending just as much as City Commander, if not more which appears to be the case to get a black repaint.

Original CC > Shadow Commander IMO

Of course, I really like the fact that they finished Magnus, but I find the nemesis as unnecessary, but whatever, the people who wanted it can get it if they want.

Are you forgetting that this set has a sword now? More plastic means a higher price point. Granted, it may not cost $15 extra, but I don't think this set will be in as high demand as the original City Commander, despite the initial exilihiration. Fans Project is simply doing the sensible thing by taking into account that Shadow Commander will sell less copies that the original. I, for example, have already splurged on CC and am not willing to pay another crazy amount for a repaint. I'm not made of money. So kudos to Fans Project for delivering a highly desired repaint, but one that I simply can't afford.

PS. The colour scheme of this trailer seems to suit Hasbro's Nemesis Prime better. Does this mean fans who had been eyeing Takara's red-windowed release will have a change of heart?

From the BBTS pre-order:

Please Note: The picture below showing all the different parts of the trailer shows the sword in all-black. The actual sword will be clear pink/red - this image was of a prototype.

Well, they're only making half the production run for what they did for the Magnus set and they're including a new mold sword and sword clip (which they had to make molds for) and, apparently, they have further improved the structure & construction of this figure through the use of additional metal screws, several improved joints, even higher quality plastic, and various other refinements. Keep in mind also, that while they may already have the original tooling for the mold... they still have to purchase materials and such for these as well. I'm thinking though that the biggest three factors in the price increase have to do with a)shorter production run, b)the new sword tooling & c)I'm sure higher quality plastic will cost more for them to purchase up front.

Like I said in an earlier post... given that it's a garage kit and all... I'm surprised that they're not asking a higher price when you factor all that in. Of course, this is just my opinion based on what I'm reading on the pre-order page.

I heard that the demand was higher than supply; and for buyers trying to get the City commander kit now will have to pay $89 to get them now from oversea...

That is what I am say'n, I know of Nemesis Prime but never heard of Nemesis UM? Looks ok but a sad attemped to use the mold again but jack up the price this time. What is next clear city commander

Usually, when a company makes a product, the more they make of the product, the cheaper the cost price. Since Shadow Commander will have half of City Commander's production run, it makes sense the price would be higher. Plus, their including a new sword, and adjusting the mold, so there are differences then being a straight up repaint.

It's not like this is a straight up repaint. With the sword this is more of a homage to RiD Scourge then anything.

Classics Prime is going to be getting a major beat down when this is released...

This seems somewhat unlikely. So far they're producing accessories for figures that exist - why would they produce Powered Convoy armour unless Hasbro (or TakTom) come out with a blue Prime figure?

I dont really buy into that, As the start up cost reflects the mold cost which in result reflects the city commanders price point. So with that said I am sure a good part or maybe even the entire mold cost has been covered. So yes maybe a lower run and the price per unit is higher but subract the mold cost it should be cheaper or even after adding the sword at par. Also how are they adjusting the mold and were is this stated?

Well, in the comic that came with City Commander... they did use the Diaclone colored one to power up Classics Optimus so... it's possible. Not to mention they've already done a 'for fun prototype' of the Diaclone version just like they did a 'for fun prototype' of this one as well. Seems like they might if this one sells well enough.

Yeah, I suppose. I've seen the fun shot of the repainted version, but I didn't know about the use of it in their mini-comic (don't have the set, not getting one). Not saying I wouldn't like to see it or anything, it just seems like something of a flawed homage to me.

Modifications to the mold are listed on the BBTS preorder page. As for cost, why did Hasbro charge $4.99 more for the Nemesis Prime repaint? How do you apply the mold cost being covered to that? As far as I know, Nemesis Prime was limited compared the Classics Prime release. Theres also another thing we don't know. Did FansProject set a price for Shadow Commander, or is BBTS free to charge what they want?

Oh yeah, I'm not saying I'd buy one (I've got City Commander on the way and I've preordered Shadow Commander, because it's just so... imposing... and evil... I can also see Shadow Commander looking good on Shattered Glass Prime), but I can see some people definently wanting one. I'd probably only buy one if Hasbro, Takara or FP (which would probably be the most likely) released a Blue Classics Prime.

Yeah, I kind of was wondering that myself. As much as I like BBTS for the most part, I can honestly say that if FansProject didn't set an MSRP for Shadow Commander like they did for City Commander... it wouldn't surprise me if BBTS pumped up the cost due to the obviously high demand for City Commander (and, at half the production run they probably figure this will have more of a demand). Though, people were complaining about $75 for City Commander when he came out so... this was to be expected that peeps would cry fowl on this one too.

I just read the BBTS write up and it says

FansProject has further improved the structure & construction of this figure through the use of additional metal screws, several improved joints, even higher quality plastic, and various other refinements.

So your telling me they need modify the molds for

additional metal screws
several improved joints
higher quality plastic

The metal screws at this size really do not have a impact on anything, Also (several improved joints) Can meen they use a different shore of plastic. Also going with a higher quality plastic does not have anything to do with the molds.

Also the Nem OP is a SDCC 2008 exclusive and im sure the higher price is relected based on its a con exclusive and they can set the prices.

Most fanboys can buy into this but its a little harder to put one past me by using these weak improvements to justify a higher cost when I even explained the whole molds thing in my previous post.
KING KONVOY:
I just placed a huge preorder for this and Grimlock but its worth it and we don't have to wait too long! This set is spectacular and I have feeling SDCC Classics 2.0 Nemesis Prime is going to sell out now.

Slimaximus:
I think I'll take a spare RiD Prime head and repaint it to replace the head on that armor to make it look different from magnus and give him more of the nem prime look

Dude, its 15 bucks. You get black armor a sword and sword clip. This isn't Hasbro or Takara but some guys making a fan project. Seriously now.
