Ya know since I got Classics Rodimus I've been trying to pin down why it bothered me, I mean I love Hot Rod, love him... but it felt more like Energon Rodimus. It hit me when I saw that, the orange chest. THAT is Hot Rod. I'm usually not one to buy just to upgrade a figure I already own but damn... I might have to make an exception

Cool, good to see it finally! I'll get it for completeness' sake, but I still far prefer the Hasbro version. This may be more G1 accurate (at least as far as the chest color... not so much with the chrome spoiler), but frankly, G1 Hot Rod was pretty gaudy. I really like how the Hasbro Classics version traded the red for a deeper maroon, ditched the orange chest, and traded the yellow for gold flames (okay, I guess you could make an argument that gold is gaudier than yellow). Classics Rodimus is just classier-looking. To me it felt like what Hot Rod always should have been. But like I said, I'll still get this little guy. He's still a nice figure, and I like variety.  razorchrist:
Still like Classics Rodimus better. I infinitely prefer the red chest over that tan orange. That makes Henkei Megs still the only repaint I'm interested in. And thank god - I didn't want to have to re-buy all these figures again. Peaugh:

Dear god, that's a must have for me. Not only does it have G1-style flames and an overall more vibrant color palette, but the windows appear to be dark, translucent blue. I'm also really liking the spoiler. I was expecting silver chrome, and I hated that idea, but the gold chrome spoiler (and headlights?) work pretty well.

It looks good, I don't think it's any better or worse than Hasbro's version. If I could get it for the same price as the Hasbro one, I gladly would, but since that's not possible, I'm more than satisfied with what I have.

I got stuck with an extra Classics Hot Rod, it's been sitting here collecting dust. I was gonna make a custom Stunticon Wildrider out of it, then I was gonna just sell it. But now I might just paint the spoiler gold. I dunno, I still like the custom Wildrider idea. Decisions decisions!  Maybe I'll just strap a bottle rocket to it & blow it to hell. Runamuck:
Ok, that looks a lot better. I thought the rear spoiler was going to be silver chrome. But Gold Chrome is 100% better. I'm getting this one.

Yeah, this is another purchase for me. Looks like if they keep this up I may get the entire Henkei line. It's consistently improved upon everything I didn't like about Classics (which I already loved to begin with).

What? This is another 'Heinkei Grimlock' syndrome... no chrome where it should be (engine, exhaust tubes) and chrome where it shouldn't be (spoiler). And the orange chest, although more G1 accurate, doesn't warrant me enough to buy this. So, another pass. So far I'll only get Starscream, Ramjet, OP, Megatron, Astrotrain and Grimlock (the latter will be taken apart piece by piece and I'll use a Classics Grimlock to make a Grimmers who's the same grey color everywhere, the Heinkei's two shades of grey pisses me off greatly). Mmmmm, no. I have Tak-Tom's versions of Classics Megs, Screamer, Astrotrain and Convoy. I'll draw the line here. The Classics character is more "Hot Rod" than "Rodimus" to me anyway.

Hmm. I like it. I might buy it... don't know yet. Guess it depends on the finances at the time. I've got Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream & Astrotrain is on the way. I'm considering getting Jetfire (to use as Skyfire) and I may get Roddy here... not too sure yet though. Need to save money for Universe and Animated...

If this had been released at the same time as the Hasbro version, I would have definitely gone this route. Problem now is I have a lot of Encore releases coming up that are higher priorities: Omega Supreme, Guardian Robot, Metroplex, the Minibots, and Skywarp and Thundercracker.

Want! It's G1 Hot Rod but, he's posable. I thought Hasbro made a mistake keeping the Autobot symbol off this toy, so I put on my own. I like the Hasbro one but this looks so much better. It really are the little touches like the flames and the orange chest that make all the difference to me. Must preorder! Can anyone tell me if BBTS has this up fro pre-order yet? It says Henkei and Takara but the pictures and description are still for Classics Rodimus. Have they just not updated it yet or what? I don't want to order the same thing I already have. I'm debating if I want this or not.....I have classics Rodimus with the G1 package from reprolabels and it looks pretty much the same if not better.

I like the G1 color scheme better than Hasbro Classic's, but with Animated and Classics 2.0 coming, not to mention other toyline like 25th Joe and Iron Man, means my wallet will be very limited in its capacity to buy other toys. For Henkei toys I can only admire for the time being. Maybe next year I can start getting some of them loose for a decent price since I plan on skipping on movie 2 toys.

HAWT! Just preordered him from BBTS. I'm loving the Henkei line. Sometimes, it pays to wait. Never got any of the Classics figures and now I'm being rewarded for my patience.
