I think those might be Hasbro stock photos. Hasbro used the same pictures of Ironhide on their site after BotCon, as is that mistransformed pic of Galvatron from Toyfair.

Haven't heard much from Hasbro on Rachet's release in the states, have we? I would assume he isn't going to be a Japaneese exclusive.. that would be silly.

Awesome... Ratchet's head is spot-on G1. Finally I can cross out Botcon Ratchet from my 'to get' list...

I wonder, since Classics Ironhide's weapon will be a dual-function chaingun/axe, will Ratchet get a remolded weapon too? His cryo spray/laser scapels would be a nice Marvel nod.

Also, one important thing I'm really anxious to see... Will his head get painted like the G1 Sunbow cartoon Ratchet - white helmet with a black crest - or like the G1 Marvel version (on which Animated Ratchet is based on) - red helmet with white crest? Maybe Heinkei will go with the cartoon accurate Ratchet and Classics will stick with the Marvel one...

I really hope he has a red helmet with a white forehead thing.....

Ratchet looks great. Love the fact that they actually not only gave him a light bar, but they gave him a new head too. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as back at Botcon 07 (when they first started showing off Universe at the no pictures panels) they did mention that when feasible they were going to do new heads on the repaints so they weren't just straight up repaints (the transformation switch up for Sideswipe & Sunstreaker seems like it was just a happy accident).

Hasn't been much news from Hasbro on a Universe release of Ratchet (they were pretty vague at Botcon about it) due to their little no Universe character that's like his Animated counterpart until said counterpart is off shelves. I'd expect the Universe release to be sometime in 2009... which means the Henkei version is going to come out sooner than the Hasbro version for a change.

This really should have been done with the Skids' Alternator mold. Simple paint jobs and custom heads do a world of wonder. I can't wait to see these in person.

I'll definitely pick up Henkei Ratchet since Hasbro has their heads up their asses with that idiotic Animated/ Universe character restriction rule.

hasbro seem determind to loose money with this no universe release f in animated rule. if japanese releases it first it will be alot of money lost for hasbro IMO. i may be wrong but whos gonna wait till who knows when in 2009 for a figure thats out in japan and only a web order away

Streak there is the same prototype used in Hasbro's photos. As far as I can tell, Sideswipe, Ironhide, Galvatron and Bluestreak pictured here are the Hasbro versions.

In fact, it looked like TakaraTomy used Hasbro Universe test shots of Ironhide, Silverstreak and Sideswipe at their Henkei display at the Tokyo toyfair.

Actually, its a scheme to make money from people who don't order things online, for even all the online retailers combined represent a pretty small retail customer segment for companies as large as Hasbro.

Their thinking is, so long as there is a toy named X who looks like X on shelves, they should avoiding selling a toy that looks very similar and has the same name to:

A. Avoid confusing customers/parents/whatever who aren't fanboys like us.

B. Get people to buy whatever toy is out now first... then hopefully get them to buy the other similar looking toy later.

C. Avoid competing against themselves.

Wow. Those look great. I can only hope the US versions look as nice.

Kids. Seriously, even though I don't agree with Hasbro's decision in this case... they won't loose any money on it even if every fan orders the Henkei one online, because kids are their market demographic not us.

Personally, even though the Henkei one will be out first... I may wait for the US release depending on a couple of things (if they use the toon colors for his helmet crest vs. the marvel comics colors and if this one follows about 95% of all Henkei releases and makes absolutely poor use of chrome).

Ratchet looks much better in that picture than any of the Ironhide pics have looked so far... though that could have a lot to do with not being mistransformed, and the dynamic pose that sort of obscures what might be dodgy arms. Also, that vehicle mode looks a bit ridiculous as an ambulance... it's got more engine up front than it has storage in the back! Still, I'm hyped.

Also, sad that Hasbro might wait a while to release this figure because of TFA Ratchet. Couldn't they call him "Autobot Ratchet" or something?

Or will they hold off, but release a black version with a new head called Trailbreaker?

Ratchet looks pretty good. I won't be surprised if Hasbro releases a similar looking Ratchet, and probably with the same head and light bar. The only difference I can see between the two will be the paint apps, and even then they probably won't be drastically different from each other. I'll wait for the inevitable Hasbro Ratchet. Would be kinda cool, imo, to have next years Botcon set bee the Classics versions of the main characters from the first movie in their movie colors. The only other mold that we would really need is a Classics Deluxe Jazz, but even then a retooled Prowl could work for it too.

Hasbro's going to do Ratchet. I almost guarantee you that. And Animated Ratchet is named "Autobot Ratchet" anyway. They can't use the name without the "Autobot" part in it. They did that with Movie Ratchet too.

I'm gonna wait for the Hasbro version of Ratchet, myself. I can't stand the chrome that TakaraTomy's been putting on all the Henkei versions of their toys. On a few it looks good (like Convoy, Ligier and the upcoming Sunstreaker) but for the most part it looks positively gharish.

It's strange, ever since Henkei showed up, my Classics collection has become a mishmash of USA Classics and Japanese Henkei, depending on what's available and which color scheme I prefer. It's somewhat liberating in a way, even if the imports are more expensive, because this way I can sort of pick from two schemes for each figure.

I got Henkei Astrotrain, Optimus, Starscream and Megatron, and I'd like to get Mirage... while the other American figures work just fine for me -- I prefer the American Bumblebee, Skywarp, Jetfire, etc.... it's all a matter of choice, and I like having the option.

I'll probably get the Henkei Sunstreaker and Octane, but the USA Prowl looks better to me. Not so sure about Sideswipe or Ironhide, but if Ratchet is Henkei only, then....that choice is made for me!

Sunstreaker's chrome fits his personality and ego. I have to go Henkei for him. Octane too, if his tanker is chrome.

Cant wait. Those are indeed the best pictures of the Classsics Ironhide/Ratchet mold yet. I love it.

True about the target demographic. False about not losing any money. They will lose a tiny bit. Better to say they will have missed the opportunity to make a smidgen more.

God I hope not he and Hoist should have a different mold. Trailbreaker has been abused to long and should have an upgrade all his own.

Oh yeah. I totally agree. I think it looks good on him and it's actually placed properly, compared to his G1 self: on his spoiler and engine. I'm very tempted to pick up the Henkei version of him myself. If Octane has a chrome tanker, I'll be very tempted to pick him up too.

Now the others is where they royally screwed up. And here's a prime example. If they would've placed the chrome on the proper spots on Hot Rodimus, I totally would've picked him up as well. But instead of putting the chrome on his engine and pipes, they when and screwed up and put it on his spoiler. I mean, wtf? Seriously.
