Rodentus prime:
Nice - Why the hell can't hasbro come up with cool stuff like this?.
Railguard:
Wow thats cool, I just hope its not mad expensive.
Johnator:
Glad I preordered. This looks amazing.

Trailers don't sell well. Magnus is a lazy repaint opposed to a core character. Classics 1.0 was a filler line expected to exist and wasn't given much effort. This kit looks complicated for younger kids and probably wouldn't be as cool if it had to follow safety guidelines.
Not everything makes sense for retail release.
K.B.Hewett:
Thanks for the info Razerwire.

All the other 'fan' kits were either poor quality, bad appeal or too expensive or all of the above. I look forward to what they produce in the future and basically they are setting the bar for all others who attempt to do this kind of stuff. |
Quality...check, large appeal...check, reasonable price...you think $76 for some plastic add-ons is reasonable? That's 4-5 times what the toy itself cost. On top of that it looks like he can't even hold the gun!
It does look great and I'm not knocking those who buy one of these, but I can't find any justification to charge that much.

ehhhhhh... 76$ is cheap for a low run metal injection molded piece or for a hand-cast resin piece of this many parts. And since I don't know which this is (assuming metal injection due to 2000 units) it seems very reasonable to me. He is not arbitrarily picking a price and making 900% profit. It costs a good chunk of that 76$ to actually produce these. Plastic is cheap, molds are expensive. Cost goes down as production number goes up.
You are thinking in the mindset of retail plastic 50,000+ run figures. If this was one of those, then yes it is expensive. If you get into resin models or collector figures that are low-run this is very reasonable. Especially if the quality is the same as the cliffjumper kit which was pretty good.
Their target audience understands the prices and that is why they have successfully hit a spot in the market where previous people tried to sell things at 600$+.
Devastator X:
I'm so glad I preordered this. I think 3 things could make this better:
1. UM has missile launchers on the side of his shoulders like has been mentioned.
2. The middle of the trailer was open like his G1 trailer instead of being "filled in" like it is now.
3. UM has a gun that looks like his G1 gun instead of the one they show now that is so big his arm has to be propped up to hold it.

As pointed out by another poster, because this is such a limited run it takes more money just to make each piece. And seeing how large and complex this piece is, combined with the fact it will be fully painted and come with a few nice little extras, it's really not hard to see why this set is so expensive.
I look forward to seeing more pics of this guy.
Fort Max:
Very nice, well worth the price.
Banshee:
I can't wait to get this piece. It's looking better everytime something new surfaces about it.
Razerwire:
I don't care how much they charge as long as they make new stuff in the future. I am willing to pay for their funding.

They are the same people who made the cliffjumper kit but not the coronation set.
Brave Magnus:
OMG! I want one of those upgrades. I have Classic Prime so it wont be a problem. ^^

you are so right ive loved what the put out so far so i look at this as funding there next project and really to make magnus look like magnus i would of payed 100 for it
SCPrime:
As a collector of some official exclusive stuff AND some fan made garage kit stuff, I'd say $76 is a great price for this. Can't wait to get it.
LatinJEM777:
I think there will be two waves of people complaining about the price. The first wave is right now. The second wave is when these sets are sold out and you find them up on ebay for $200-250.
I preordered mine the first day you could. That $76 price tag is VERY generous of them. I also plan on preordering their Prime trailer that they also have in development the first chance I get.
Megatronwp38:
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
giga-galvatron:
glad i pre-ordered it. great great set
SPLIT LIP:
Meh, not overly thrilled about the giant arms and such compared to the smaller body. The BFG isn't that pretty either. nice colours, though, but big pass.
ORIO:
I'm curious to see what they're gonna roll out with AFTER this and the Prime trailer. I remember hearing about upgrade kits for Grimlock and Rodimus. But aside from a sword for Grimlock not sure what either of those would be.
I really want them to make some damn hands for the Energon combiners. Superion Mostly. And a new head! Yeah.... that would rule ass.

I'm with you! I thought they were smoking crack when I saw the price.
$76.00 is
EXTREAMLY reasonable considering it's limited. I missed out on the Cliffjumper upgrade when people were supposedly ordering them for $30.00, now you can't find that kit for under $250 on Ebay.
BoltFTW:
This is quite Awesome. And yes I agree that the inclusion of the missile launchers on the shoulders would have been a sweet touch, I must say that it looks perfectly fine without them. Poseable fingers (like ani starscream) would have been nice for a figure this size too, but thats just nit picking.
The only thing that has me slightly worried is how it will affect the possibility of the figure. It looks like the hip attachment cuts off a fair amount of forward/backward movement, but its hard to tell with the images. But yeah, this thing is freakin awesome and I am so glad I preordered it.
Now all I need is a magnus.... TO EBAY!
tikgnat:
Holeee crap, that looks awesome.
I'm glad I've got one on preorder as well. Having said that, has anyone got confirmation from TFSource yet?
