You know, I only just realised something. If anyone has the War Within comics or the omnibus version, go look at WW Prime's trailer then compare it to BTS Toy's version. They've obviously been heavily influenced by it, although the rear half is pure G1.

I doubt that, since this one is made by BTS and SC is by Fans Project.

i'm aware of that, but a tow hook would encourage fans to get both since they could be used together in vehicle mode

anyways a tow hook aint that hard to install i bet

I don't think Fans Project would include an option to use a rival's trailer when they have their own on the way.

BTS is one of FP's competitors in the aftermarket TF products. So BTS will most likely ignore their products, or any type of attachments.

Man, the nemesis trailer is warming up to me. I've been planning to just drill a hole and use RID Scourges trailer (which looks AWESOME attached to Nemmy). But that looks really good...

That really isn't bad at all. Especially the Nemesis Prime one.

I may pick one up to go with my Shadow Commander. As others have said, it shouldn't be too hard to improvise a towing hook, and the style actually feels more like a match for the Shadow commander 'block' than the FansProject trailer.

I especially love the little weapon lockers. The whole trailer seems sized for Minicons, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion.

Man, it shouldn't be long till BBTS gets them in stock now. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I hated the first images and decided to pass on it, but these finished images make it look rather nice. I may get one after all. I REALLY like how it looks with animated Prime.

You misunderstand.

The commander trailer is already out. They have whatever peg or attachment they have to connect to the Prime cab.

The BTS toys trailer came out after they did. What's to stop BTS from designing their trailer to have an additional hook or wutever it may be to allow the Commander trailer to connect as well.

The fact that FP is releasing their own trailer is irrelevant. The ability to link with the commander trailer is certainly an advantage, but if BTS were smart, they would also include that feature to match FP's (that's the incentive, to whoever asked).


By analogy, is there anything Hasbro could have done to prevent FP from creating a trailer that could break apart and mount onto the Classics Prime mold as armor? No.

Likewise, there's nothing FP does that affects what BTS does to their design.

As you have already seen the link in the past (and know about the G3 trailer), you probably remember the first images that were shown using an atatchment to the PC trailer.

Now remember the first to these last images of BTS showing of their trailer and tell me where in the whole conception to production process did they document that they would offer an atatchment for a FP trailer.

As it stands I didn't misunderstand your post, you were incorrect in your initial statement. Also I stand by my point as of why would BTS and FP make interconnecting trailers if they are essentially competing for the same market?

The correct way of viewing this would be that perhaps a third party (i-gear, etc) could make an interconnecting axle and form a "land train."

Because interconnecting trailers turns two mutually exclusive trailers into two trailers that can be used together with one cab. I don't see how BTS adding a hook or connector for the city commander armor hurts their market - if anything, it lets them tap into the market for people who already have the city commander armor and use the BTS trailer as an add-on for their add-on.

BTS then would not be "competing" with FP any more than FP competes with Hasbro/Takaratomy.

Note I never said that they could connect, nor did i say that BTS designed them so that they would.

I asked whether BTS' trailer could connect, and if they did not connect, how hard people thought it would be to fabricate/rig a way for them to connect. You were the one who turned the debate into whether BTS could or should make them connect, which was not my point.

i totally see what you mean. they are competing and trying to sell similar products but bts would be smart to add on the attachment for the city commander it would kind of undercut into one of the features of the fp trailer and make the bts one that little bit more desirable. i prob havent done a good job of wording it right but i do know what you mean!

In a way, its a waste of time for BTS to create a hitch so people can attach City Commander to it. City Commander goes with Magnus, so Optimus' trailer doesn't need to pull it along. Now, Nemesis, it can, but Shadow Commander was a limited run compared to the original, and how many of the Shadow Commander owners will be getting this? So in a way, the time and effort they would of put in, wouldn't work. Also, since they have Roller at the back of the trailer, acting as the wheel base, they would of had to changed the design for it part, so if there was a hitch, it could extend, and fold up. From my own census from the various TF boards, it looks like majority of the Shadow Commander owners are skipping this trailer. Those that don't own SC are buying this BTS trailer.

personally i like this trailer but i will buy the fans project one. it seems to say optimus prime to me more then the bts one. plus the weapons included in the FP seal it for me

The debate has raged over this a lot in the various Botcon threads, and I think the point is made very well in them that just because a certain percentage of fans post one way or another doesn't mean that the majority of the fandom or of the potential market wants one thing or another.

In this case, remember that the Powered Commander trailer is coming out soon, too - so there's certainly reason enough why adding in a hitch to attach the Commander trailer mold to the back of this would make sense for the market. Zero makes that point very well, I think. Obviously many other fan production groups think there's value in creating interactivity between the various fan add-ons - you need only look at all the "Magnus" upgrades to see that. Honestly, if I were them it would come down to a cost benefit analysis. I don't know the specifics of their production costs, etc... so I can't really make a call as to whether or not it would be worth it.

That doesn't remove the fact that we haven't seen any evidence of one; but then, he wasn't suggesting that we had. I doubt any of us thinks it likely that they'll be adding it at this stage in the production.

I think this argument has drawn out a little beyond its necessary life due to misunderstandings, and I'm fairly certain none of us means to insult anyone else. Perhaps we should just drop it?

While I can the appeal some fans would have for it I doubt it will ever happen. There is no point for BTS or FP to do this. It wouldn't necessarily be a financially sound investment to make an attachment for a aftermarket product made by your competitor.

Common sense not advanced physics here people. And there comes the question of ethics, you just don't ride another man's horse without asking permission first. If you know what I mean. And also why give away business?

I never said I didn't like the idea, just that I highly doubt that a competitor would maximize another's offering over their own.

I received email confirmation from BTS toys that they don't have a connector for the CC/SC/PC trailer:

I don't have the BTS trailer in hand, obviously, nor do i have a CC/SC armor yet. Looking at pictures, however, the lack of any forward wheels on the CC/SC armor means the thing is gonna want to tilt forward due to its own weight, so the connector would need to be able to hold it up (so much for a ghetto solution using a ziptie . . .).

I'm curious to see up close how FP's own trailer connects to the CC/SC armor.


As one can tell, I'm pretty obsessed with creating a powermaster prime + god bomber/apex armor trailer setup out of this.

As I wrote before, FP already has pictures of its G3 and PC trailers connected. Go to their site so you can see how it was done.

Sucks, the FP connection is fairly involved and integrated. Someone's gonna need to fab something up.

A trailer for Prime? Too soon?

God, those are so hot. I want them all, but seriously, do I really NEED so many trailers? I don't even OWN animated Prime...except the voyager, which I'm pretty sure this won't tow.

I think I may compromise: buy the Nemesis version of this one for Nemmy, and get the Grey G3 for Prime.

Where is the Autobot symbol on the trailer?

They both look awesome. But I think I'm going to grab the BTS trailer for Nemesis, and the Fans Project trailer for Prime. To make them look different besides just the color scheme.

I think the reason is because it's unofficial. And aren't the two faction symbols owned by Hasbro? I don't know, just a guess by me.

It's sort of easy to miss. It's over at Reprolabels.com.

I am sure Hasbro owns the rights to the faction sysmbols but, they have yet to go after a fan made project. Justitoys made an MP trailer with the symbol on it.

I've been kicking around this idea myself. Even with the new head and accessories the Shadow Commander set is still too similar to the City Commander one, and the FP G3 trailer is definately being bought for Prime. So if Nemmy gets a trailer this will be the one, then they'll all be different.

And im also gonna try and find a way to fenaggle SC onto the back of the BTS trailer, it shouldnt be too hard to makeshift.
