Transformers Beast Wars Checklist

Posted on 09-27-2006 at 03:36 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
Kicking off in late 1995, Beast Wars was a radical new direction for Transformers. Handled by Hasbro subsidiary Kenner (which has since been absorbed into Hasbro proper), the Transformers line was relaunched with a new style and direction. Feeling that vehicles had grown stale, Kenner went with realistic(-ish) beasts and animals, which transformed into very well articulated robots. While Hasbro had begun to introduce more articulation at the end of the previous line, Transformers Generation 2,... [Read More]

Beast Wars 10th Anniversary (BWX) Checklist

Posted on 09-26-2006 at 03:18 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
In 2006, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the much-loved Beast Wars, Hasbro reissued six of the original deluxe toys with new decos. In addition, they also produced two all new toys based on Optimus Primal and Megatron. Not wanting to be left out, Takara released a boxset containing very nicely remolded versions of the original, Ultra Class Optimus Primal and Megatron, which Hasbro would later release as a store exclusive. The first two waves each came with DVDs with an episode that focused... [Read More]

Transformers Binaltech & Binaltech Asterisk Checklist

Posted on 09-26-2006 at 03:09 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
Takara's Binaltach and Binaltech Asterisk lines were the Japanese versions of Hasbro's Alternators, running from third quarter 2003 to late 2005. Unlike the all-plastic Hasbro releases, the Binaltechs were made of die-cast metal, and hence commanded a higher price tag. Each came with a booklet detailing the specifics of the car and also the latest chapter in the "Binaltech story", which was exceedingly clever and well written, successfully blending in several different elements of the... Transformers Alternators Checklist

Kicking off with Smokescreen in 2003, Transformers Alternators is a subline marketted at older collectors. Each release is fully licensed by the manufacturer and at 1/24 scale, boasting authentic detailing and realistic interiors.
As of the time of writing, 24 Alternators have been released, with two further releases planned for 2007 (a second Ravage, based on a Jaguar, and Rumble based on a Honda Civic). Doubtless in time others may follow.

Transformers Armada Checklist

Posted on 09-26-2006 at 02:17 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
Transformers Armada was the main line that ran between 2002 and third quarter 2003. It followed on from Robots in Disguise, and to many fans was something of a shock, due to the alleged backward step from the intricate designs of RiD to the blockier, simpler designs of yesteryear.
The Armada line introduced a new play pattern in the form of Minicons. The Minicons were included with every larger Transformer, and also sold in three packs. They could attach to numerous hardpoints on the bodies of... [Read More]

Transformers Energon Checklist

Posted on 09-26-2006 at 12:58 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
Transformers Energon was the main line that ran following the end of Armada in 2003. It ended in 2005 and was replaced with Transformers Cybertron.
The main "gimmicks" of the line were clear Energon Weapons which could be attached to any of the toys. In addition, the majority of the Autobots of the Deluxe and Mega Size classes boasted the ability to form upper and lower torsos, so they could merge with any other Autobot also equipped with this ability.
The line was rife with homages to earlier... [Read More]

Transformers Cybertron Checklist

Posted on 09-24-2006 at 12:41 PM by Sol Fury under Checklists
Kicking off in mid 2005, Transformers Cybertron is the follow on to Transformers Energon. It ended in third quarter 2006. The line's gimmick this time was once again unlocking hidden features, this time accomplished by inserting a "Cyber Key" into a slot on the toy. Well liked by fans and kids, Cybertron blended several different Transformers aesthetics together (realistic vehicles, mechanical beasts, and futuristic vehicles to name but three).
Each of the main size class characters came with a... [Read More]
