New Robot Heroes Revealed: Tigatron vs Inferno, Ricochet vs Predaking

Laserbeak is pure win along with Slag...might just have to snag some more to frollick on my G1 Metroplex

Laserbeak scares me...*Shivers*

Looks like (based on recent releases) its one of two things-

1. Keeping the rights to a name solid (Predaking, Predacon Tarantulas, Rhinox, etc.)

2. Having a larger figure with the same namesake on the shelf at the same time or soon (Sunstreaker, Hound, Blitzwing, Galvatron, Cheetor, Blackarachnia, Tankor, etc.)

Do like how Tigatron is the toy's colours. And Ricochet? Didn't see that one coming, sure, they've got the mold to repaint, but he's not even that big a character. Ah well, 25th is 25th, right?

I've never had an interest in RH's before but I want almost all of these. Especially the RiD set and Laserbeak!

As much as I love getting a superdeformed Predaking (he brings cuddly-wuddly death, as the TF Wiki said about some other Robot Hero), I'm surprised... Hasbro said they'd release larger Robot Heroes for Gestalts or Unicron. It'll feel weird to see Preds as big as a regular bot...

Nevertheless, I will get him.

god I love Robot Heroes!

Predaking makes me wish we had some of them large-size Robot heroes.

It's too bad Tigatron is just a repaint of the Cheetor figure. Not surprising, since every Tigatron toy is a repaint of Cheetor, and the one that wasn't was a repaint of a remold of Cheetor. Tigatron had a different look in the show and the RH Cheetor "gleefully running like an imbecile" pose doesn't really suit Tigatron either. Worth it for totally-insane-looking Inferno though.

Looking forward to Prowl/Laserbeak (which will defo be re-released as Smokescreen/Bluestreak vs Buzzsaw!) and Ricochet/Predaking. Hope they do more combiners like Devastator, Defensor, etc.

Not really. Repaints happen, even in Robot Heroes. A repaint of an existing mold is obviously much cheaper than making a new mold. And some characters will only get toys if they're repainted from someone else.

Predaking and Ricochet are a must. Inferno too, but unfortunately I'm not feeling that Cheetor repaint and so might pass 'em up.

And I'm still awaiting word about a Silverstreak VS Buzzsaw set. C'mon Hasbro, such an easy and obvious repaint idea!

You know, I didn't even realize Ricochet was a repaint until you just mentioned it. I'm pretty good at spotting that sort of thing, but missed it here for some reason. Now his inclusion makes perfect sense.

All the same, I don't think these things cost Hasbro very much to make considering the vast variety of uinique molds and low retail price. Hopefully that works to everyone's advantage so that we can continue to get as many of these little guys as possible.

I like this theory, because it gives me hopes for Swoop VS Cyclonus, Sideswipe VS Scorponok, Silverbolt VS Onslaught, Jetfire VS Dirge, Blurr VS Acid Storm 2 packs!!

I would love to see some obscure characters repainted from existing Robot Heroes toys. Just as long as they are packaged with someone very desirable otherwise a lot of people will pass on them.

And yeah, these little guys should be very cheap for Hasbro to make which is why we're seeing a lot of them. I am going to try to collect them all eventually except for the movie characters - I don't like the look of them.

I love these little guys. I've only been getting the G1 characters. However, that RID prime and Megs might change that for me.

While these are perfection and I will continue to be a completionist on this line, I was kinda hoping for an oversized Robot hero by now. Omega Supreme, Devastator, anything really.

They should have named Slag 'Dinobot' in the first place instead of naming him Snarl.

Still I don't have any problems with two characters sharing the same name. G1 Optimus Prime and RiD Optimus Prime for example. Although RH Slag really should never have been named Snarl.

Unfortunately, Hasbro said in one of the last Q&A sessions that they don't have any plans (at least for quite a while) to release more RH Dinobots. If that's true, this is one case where I almost wish they would have *only* released Grimlock since he's become more & more of a stand-alone character over the years. Having two out of the five is almost worse, especially since Slag has now gotten Snarl's name. If there's one thing that drives me crazy as a collector, it's when teams get split up like this.

On the topic of what to call Snarl if they ever do release him, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets generically dubbed as Dinobot. They did it with RH Shrapnel by calling him Insecticon, so the same template could hopefully apply when/if the real Snarl ever sees the light of day in this line.

Small Predaking! WTF hasbro, you made a Rancor large for cripes sake. Come on, hasbro.

Again, why should Snarl have to have his name changed when there's nothing wrong with it? RH Slag is the one who should have been called Dinobot in the first place.

Ah, more tiny crazy goodness to go on my Robot Heroes shelf... well, not really mine... they're my daughter's, but still. There's just some great feeling of accomplishment when your child starts taking up the same interests as you... definitely going to have to get her the newer one's when they get released.

There's another bonus to Robot Heroes repaints. It's an easy way to keep a name copy-righted. They can release a repaint, and it still counts as keeping the name in use!

I'd love to see them make Stockade! He's one of my favorites!

Yes! Except lose the Acid Storm and replace it with Sunstorm. G1!! No new universe characters in Robot Heroes!

Well, if you're going to count Sunstorm as a G1 character, you should count Acid Storm as one too. They were both generic seekers. Sunstorm was in MTMTE, and Acid Storm was in Divide and Conquer.

Technically Acid Storm was in G1, he just didn't have a name till now.

Yeah, but the Rancor has a bigger fanbase than transformer fans. Just look at George Lucas's bank account.

It is a pitty they're not releasing Predaking larger format, but at least the Robot Heroes don't look so cutesy and pre-schoolish that it's embarassing to buy them in a store.

Personally, on the whole I think the Robot Heroes line is far less Pre-school looking than their Star Wars & Marvel equivilent. Whoever designs the TF Robot Heroes actually adheres to the original g1 designs in an appealing way that has yet to be achieved in any other TF toy line, IMO. Aside from some japanese PVCs..

Besides the super deformed proportions, all the Robot Heroes are alive with G1 character! Even the movie line -- on the whole is great. Although they cheesed out on a few of the faces (Bonecrusher).

Have you seen some of the stupid face scuplts on the Star Wars guys faces? 1 step above Little People Preshcool toys. Rancor included. Quite ugly and badly designed on the whole.

Just be glad they have a better design and sculpt team on TF RHs than on similar lines. I know as a fact that Guido Guidi worked on some....

Also - just thought of this. If they release Omega Supreme RH, then they can repaint him a blue Omega sentinel and we can buy a ton!

Just a thought: I see no reason for Hasbro to release TF Animated Robot Heroes. Stylistically it's redundant, plus I just want to leave room for the complete G1.

No camo -- just a bright green Seeker. The camo was added in accordance with Hasbro's stated "realistic vehicle" goal for TFU. (A goal which seems to have rapidly evaporated, I'd add.)

Love the predaking and sharkticon, but they might want to rethink that lazorbeak...

I agree on Laserbeak. Bigtime fail.

I get that they want to make it cute and fun, but they should have preserved the original shape of his head. This looks like a a crazy pteradoctyl or that buzzard from the Rudoplh New Year's show.

I'll buy it to get the other figure, but Robot Heroes Laserbeak = Suckville, poulation: it.

Considering the larger Superhero Squad figures seems to have not sold very well (note them all on clearance), not totally surprised Hasbro is doing Predaking in small form. Starwars just must be doing so well that they can risk putting out larger toys.

That's true, but I'd imagine a Predaking that size would put the Superhero stuff to shame. I also wonder if the sculpting wouldn't be better on large Robot Heroes stuff since I've noticed a lot of evolution from the first superhero and Star Wars stuff to what we are getting with Robot Heroes and Combat Heroes.

Ha ha, and it's a little unfair with the big Star Wars stuff. The rancor set has it were you put the figure in the rancor's mouth and then take it out of the back so it's like the rancor poops Jedi or something.

Oh I completely agree. But as it is, they already went and slapped Snarl's name onto Slag, so the real Snarl is somewhat screwed when/if he ever gets released.

I understand Hasbro maybe having to rename Slag, but to give him another Dinobot's name was a lame decision.

They can always just call him Striker, like the past few Stegosaurus TFs released stateside have been called.

They'd probably be able to make a giant Devastator from RotF, since that version would have much more recognition amongst toy-hungry kids than other, non-movie combiners.

I do like the movie line RH's so a movie devastator would be cool. I think the Brawl robot Hero figure (Devastator in the movie, ironically) may be one of the best Robot Heroes toy ever... IMO
