 | | | Transformers Collectors Club Store Cancels Preorders for Animated Arcee | | Posted on 05-21-2009 at 04:19 PM by Sol Fury | Sad news for fans of Transformers Animated - The Transformers Collectors Club Store has begun to email customers who preordered the Deluxe Class Animated Arcee to advise them that their preorders have been canceled, as "Hasbro canceled Arcee for the time being."
This also leaves the fate of several other upcoming Animated toys, including Animated Electrostatic Soundwave with Ratbat, Rodimus Prime, and Cybertron Mode Ratchet in question. It is hoped that Hasbro might give some answers to the ultimate fate of the Transformers Animated toy line at Botcon, but sadly the outlook is not looking good.

"Hi Curt,
Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc.
Our records do not show that our Animated Arcee has been cancelled. I will be happy to check into this matter for you and as soon as I receive any information regarding this, I will email you.
I look forward to assisting you. "
So i dunno what to believe now. I honestly dislike that so called collectors club, maybe they just needed an excuse not to sell her OR an excuse to come out later and say shes LIMITED and jack up her price.. All i know is she better make it to retail stores because i been waiting for a decent Arcee since the 80's . So lets hope the email they sent me today is the truth and we will see her soon.
-Curt | Thanks for the info PrimulArchangel. For the time being, i think its safe to hold onto hope of Animated Arcee being released. I would how ever prefer her not to be released under the Universe line, as it MAY mean we wont see a Classics Style Arcee.
I too was hoping to get Arcee before the new movie line was released.
While I agree that this isnt entirely Hasbro's fault, it would have been nice for them to communicate to us that it is delayed (so far as we can tell), even it they tack on unforseen circumstances as their reason.
I agree that by doing nothing, nothing with change or happen, but by taking action we are not necassaryly throwing our arms out in protest, just that we need to be seen as having seen what is or isnt happening with this.

Do you really think Hasbro would spend the money on these figures to have them created and then go "oops, nope, nevermind" at the last second?
No.
I am almost willing to bet the house on the true answer being that retailers like Target, Walmart, etc., just want to focus on movie toys and leave Animated, an under-performer, behind. There's still a lot of older wave Animated toys sitting on shelves and in warehouses ... there might be a slight resurgence when ROTF hits, but not enough to sustain the line.
Put your blame on retailers on this one, *NOT* on Hasbro. If Hasbro can't get a big enough order for the waves that these figures are included in, they cancel the order. This is screaming "WALMART AND TARGET SAID NO" to me, and that Hasbro has to make the cost-effective decision of *NOT* ordering these figures from their factory(ies).
If you're screaming "FUCK YOU HASBRO" ... then you have no idea how a business model works. ALL YOUR ANIMATED QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, WORRIES, ETC., WILL BE ADDRESSED AT BOTCON. I PROMISE. | Post of the year.

| Compared to the 2007 movie line, it obviously was.
and looking at the various animated merchandise, hasbro was obviously expecting movie-level success from the line. it's plain to see that it wasnt a movie-level success.
and that's how it was an under-performer.
