Transformers Collectors Club Store Cancels Preorders for Animated Arcee

Transformers Collectors Club Store Cancels Preorders for Animated Arcee Arcee-Robot
Sad news for fans of Transformers Animated - The Transformers Collectors Club Store has begun to email customers who preordered the Deluxe Class Animated Arcee to advise them that their preorders have been canceled, as "Hasbro canceled Arcee for the time being."

This also leaves the fate of several other upcoming Animated toys, including Animated Electrostatic Soundwave with Ratbat, Rodimus Prime, and Cybertron Mode Ratchet in question. It is hoped that Hasbro might give some answers to the ultimate fate of the Transformers Animated toy line at Botcon, but sadly the outlook is not looking good.

Damnit, they're canceling these good toys simply because they don't want them competing with the movie toys of the same name! There's Movie Arcee causing this much-better Arcee to go, Soundwave's movie presence is obvious, and Blackout is more or less back in toy form(Grindor my ass, Hasbro! You know it's the exact same figure!), so no Ani. Blackout, and Rodimus, well, he just got the short end of the stick 'cause he's in this wave and got canceled simply because everybody else did! Damn movie line, I'd actually prefer Arcee not being in ROTF simply if that meant saving these canceled toys, as I prefer her toy over those lame three motorbike combiners that are crap when by themselves IMO.

They show us new figures. Finished figures at that. Only to wet our appetites, and those waiting for an Arcee toy for the first time, and what do they do? Piss down our throats.

I'm sorry, and anyone can feel free to come in here and make excuses for them, and as to why they will keep relying on them (despite griping about them so much,) but people shouldn't stand for this.

I was looking forward to Blackout, Arcee, and Rodimus to finish up the line, since the cartoon and line got cancelled.

Needless to say, I won't bend over backwards for these dweebs. If Arcee/Blackout/Rodimus are never released, after me, a customer, along with others were told they would be, and we've seen a finished Arcee, then after the movie line is over, they can kiss this wallet and customer good-bye.

I know it doesn't seem like much, since there are so many puppets out there, ready to follow and keep buying TF toys, despite any complaints they may have over any line, and make excuses as to why it is okay, but I am sure there are some out there smart enough to show Hasbro the finger like I will should these never be released.

Why tease people? That isn't good business. It just further shows how off base they are with their customers. So much for loyalty. I guess money is the only thing that matters. Sure enough, they will continue to get it from the person(s) who quote(s) me with some lame excuse as to why Hasbro is okay, and why it is okay to keep supporting their brand.
THIS!!!!!...Along with a FUCK YOU HASBRO!!!!

God, I am so pissed off!
JuicyNo:
I'll be patient for a week and wait for an explanation from Hasbro (which I'm assuming is coming at Botcon) to determine the true extent of my anger. I hope this "cancellation" is merely a delay due to the movie and that Arcee and Rodimus will eventually see a release of some sort.
Doug:
Just think of the money Hasbro will lose for canceling Arcee.
starscream-99:
That's not right. I wanted an Animated Rodimus figure. So this might be it for Animated figures? So sad.

Its totally sods law that animated coincided with the release of revenge of fallen, this news makes me want to hate the film and toys, especially the toys, i dont understand why they are releasing soo many, half of them look utter crap and the other half aint even in the flippin movie, ok 1 or 2 look good but i only collect animated, every other line doesnt appeal to me.

Botcon will have news, i hope an animated strong army is going to find out what the fuck, dont take their answers laying down, fight till we have the truth,
Ware t-shirts saying ummm something cool about animated

If you raise enough of a stink you MIGHT get them online in a multipack like the Canceled Joes are getting.

I'm sure it's just a tactical delay. They've gotten too far along in the process to let this mold just wither away. Relax. Be patient.

Can understand the disappointment in lack of Arcee - but she's getting a toy in ROTF and the sales of Animated have been bad pretty much world-wide. I know some of you think it's selling well in your area, and it may be. But looking at a global view, many countries report poor poor sales. It's not surprising that Hasbro has shelved Animated if it's not gonna sell, they'd rather focus on ROTF which is almost definitely going to be the biggest seller for them this entire year.
Do you not know how many friggin dam motorcycles of Arcee ther are? They all suck. They look nothing like a G1 homage that near all of us have been waiting for for a very long time now.

Hopefully, collectors will get some answers as to Arcee's fate at Botcon.

EDIT: For those of us who pre-ordered Arcee, an email was sent out saying the pre-order was cancelled since Hasbro cancelled Arcee for the time being. The figure has also been removed from the Club store here: Transformers Club Online Catalog
Is cancelled the actual word used about what hasbro has done to the figure?
Or is cancelled just refering to the preorders?

It could be possible that Habro has decided to change an assorment and pack different figures together. That would result in Hasbro cancelling all the presales of the old assorment and hasn't started sales on the new assortment yet, giving the impression that they've cancelled the figure.

Changing assortments and repackaging isn't that uncommon. They may have just figured that Arcee would be better in an assorment with Rodimus with 2 other Deluxe repaints. That would kinda make some sence. Hydro dive Bumblebee packed with Blackout kinda makes more sense that with kind of thinking too.
At this stage they'll have already cut those moulds (in steel and it ain't cheap) and I can't see hasbro not putting them out if the moulds have been made...they'll need to make those moulds pay for themselves. Movie or no Movie not using complete moulds is not very good financial sence.

We may see them yet

Oh man, they've seriously abused that stupid Energon mold to death already in all likleyhood, and there's also the two movie-style concept Arcees that got made into scouts as well.

But to the person who thinks that it's okay that Arcee's getting a movie toy, the fact is that Animated Arcee is the closest that ANY Arcee that turned into a car has been to getting released. Not ONCE has there been a toy of Arcee released that looks even REMOTELY like the G1 figure by Hasbro (even a Chromedome repaint was canceled).

With the Movie so close and Movie toys hitting in some areas there is NO CHANCE IN HELL these will be released at retail for atleast the next year.

Silver lining:

There was an interview recently from someone over at Takara and they said that the Animated line would be coming to Japan either later this year or sometime next year. I dont remember who it was, but it was pretty recent. So, if Hasbro doesnt pull thier heads our of thier ass and make these toys availible later this year, store exclusives, HTS exclusive, or even TFCC exclusive then I am pretty sure we will see Arcee and the others from Japan.

I am hoping it will be released because first we missed out on a G1 Titanium Arcee and now we are missing out on a g1-homage animated Arcee. This is getting really old.

I remain skeptical that a toy that made it to the "photoshopped packaging image" stage will be cancelled for good and forever, ever since Titanium Grimlock + Prowl found their way to TRU.

Wouldn't bet on it, if they were selling into places they'll have had the production run on the planner at the factorys if not already made. If Hasbro made any already we'll see them by xmas. Storing stock for anything longer than a couple of monthsreally starts to add up and lose money.

When I got the email, it was that the pre-orders were being cancelled. The wording was vague on the toy itself, but at the least she was majorly postponed. She was suppossed to have shipped by now. I'm HOPING that she is coming out later in the year, or next year, or SOMETIME. But at this rate, I won't be surprised if I never see her.

We've got at least two Arcee plans that never happened for G1, Titanium, and now looks like Animated may join that club. Grrr

That's just it. I don't think they made it that far. Wave 15 of the Good Joe figures have shown up carded on ebay and Hasbro has said point blank they are not coming. Granted SOME of them are coming in the 7 packs because we raised a big enough stink, but I think these TFs have not even made that far otherwise they would be on Ebay by now.

KICKBACK'S DAMAGE CONTROL:

Do not blame Hasbro.

Do you really think Hasbro would spend the money on these figures to have them created and then go "oops, nope, nevermind" at the last second?

No.

I am almost willing to bet the house on the true answer being that retailers like Target, Walmart, etc., just want to focus on movie toys and leave Animated, an under-performer, behind. There's still a lot of older wave Animated toys sitting on shelves and in warehouses ... there might be a slight resurgence when ROTF hits, but not enough to sustain the line.

Put your blame on retailers on this one, *NOT* on Hasbro. If Hasbro can't get a big enough order for the waves that these figures are included in, they cancel the order. This is screaming "WALMART AND TARGET SAID NO" to me, and that Hasbro has to make the cost-effective decision of *NOT* ordering these figures from their factory(ies).

If you're screaming "FUCK YOU HASBRO" ... then you have no idea how a business model works.

ALL YOUR ANIMATED QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, WORRIES, ETC., WILL BE ADDRESSED AT BOTCON. I PROMISE.

Well, hopefully we'll hear something about this at Botcon. Still, it's hard for me not to be irritated by this, but I'm going to try and hold out for an answer from Botcon.

Though, I hope they don't do one of these to us:

Question:We really liked that Animated Arcee figure we saw at ToyFair. Any chance we might see her released at a later date?

Hasbro Reps at Convention: Yes, we really like that figure too. We really enjoyed making her and we hope you like her as much as we did.

I think I'd flip my lid...
SAF7:
Man, I think Arcee beats out Waspinator (BW, not so much Animated) as the unluckiest Transformer. She never got a G1 toy (or any toy until the Botcon exclusive or the Energon one), she was cut from the first movie, her Alternators is, well, let's just say 'not in character', in Animated all she does is get shot by the EMP, shoved into a hospital, and have information forcibly ripped out of her skull by Shockwave, and now her toy is either postponed or cancelled.
Deadend:
I at least wanted Arcee out of these. T_T

Hopefully they're just being pushed back again till later. But if not, come on! These need to hit market somehow!

Arcee is one I've been waiting on, and hasbro promised last year. T_T
Ash from Carolina:
Ouch if you aren't a fan of the movie line stuff this year is just down right horrible.

Universe gets put on hold for the toy gods only know how long.

The Animated cartoon series ends with no word on it's replacement.

Now one of the figures that a lot of fans were looking forward to also has an unknown future.

I know everyone says wait until Bot Con, but at Toy Fair and ever since then Hasbro has talked nothing but movie so movie could be all we hear at Bot Con.

Thanks Hasbro real good of you to look after your old fans.

Well, all I can say is that (and, I wasn't really blaming Hasbro from the beginning... just really irritated about this) if this is stores saying no... then hopefully Hasbro will release these on HTS or at least find an outlet as a store exclusive somewhere (heck, even a TFCC exclusive release of these would be better than nothing... I'd even rejoin the TFCC if that happened).

Well, hopefully all our questions will be answered at Botcon, because their online Q&A's have been really... evasive lately about anything to do with... well anything really. Lot of PR and "GO BUY OUR MOVIE TOYS!" junk (which, I think is what's really put me off of Hasbro right now more than anything).

Got that right. I'm still bummed that Alternators are gone, but I'm not delusional enough to think that Hasbro should continue creating them for me at a loss to their bottom line. Come on, people - disappointment is one thing, but yeesh.

I hope that the answers from the Hasbro team at Botcon will be clear and definitive. I'm sick of seeing the movie blamed for everything when objectively, all signs point to the toys not selling well and the show being poorly promoted and having a ridiculous time slot.

I enjoy the show too, but try looking at it from a business perspective instead of a fan perspective.

If we've come to the point where Walmart and target are dictating to a company like hasbro what they release for their licences then we're all screwed and those companies have way too much power.

If hasbro have cut the moulds for a product, it will be released at some point in some form.

Yeah I understand the whole Hasbro needing a big enough order to make it cost effective, but even without their sizable order theres still going to be a fair chunk of sales going to places like toysrus and the independants. Transformers in all of its forms has pretty much always been a seller and a hell of a lot of places outside of T and W wouldstill take on that stock.
For those two to stop a production run their percentage of the production run must be well over 50%.

Theres also the possibility that Target or Walmart have demanded that they be exclusive to them., which is not out of the realmsof possibility either
